I just finished taping an interview with Carl Huttenberger who was once a Seventy in The Church of Jesus Christ & was recently confirmed into the Community of Christ. More in the comments.

We just taped it this morning and I'll probably release it in the first week of September on my channel Mormon Book Reviews on YouTube. It's The Church of Jesus Christ (Bickertonite) he was born and raised in.

When I post one of my YouTube videos on my profile it always gets marked NSFW. Even after I remove the label the video is still blurred and my account is considered NSFW. Is there anyway to fix this?

My channel is Mormon Book Reviews on YouTube and it's not a NSFW work type of channel. This happens whenever I post from my laptop and only on my profile.

Thomas Murphy links Native American myth and folklore to Book of Mormon Stories.

Dr. Thomas W Murphy joins Steven Pynakker on Mormon Book Reviews for his first video interview since the publication of Unsettling Scripture: Iroquois and the Book of Mormon. Dr. Murphy's first book offers a fresh perspective on the study of the Book of Mormon by centering Indigenous narratives about its origin. The Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) have stories of their own about how Mormons came to be that take center stage in Unsettling Scripture. Dr. Murphy takes these Haudenosaunee oral traditions seriously and highlights surprising similarities and differences with the Book of Mormon.

I just recently received the book "Wayward Lamanite: A Native Women's Journey Outside the Story I Was Given" by Ember Hudson. More in the comments.

I just recently received the book "Wayward Lamanite: A Native Women's Journey Outside the Story I Was Given" by Ember Hudson. Native voices and the Restoration are an ongoing conversation we are having here at Mormon Book Reviews w/Steve Pynakker and today's episode is no exception. Thomas Murphy returns to discuss his new book "Unsettling Scripture Iroquois and the Book of Mormon" published by The University of Utah. This was a very fascinating conversation and is among the very first interviews with Thomas about his book. He told me that Benchmark Books sold all of their copies of the book at this past weekend's Sunstone Conference! Carol Lynn Pearson's "Lost" Interview. Her interview with Valerie Hamaker of Latter Day Struggles & Steven Pynakker.

In December of 2022 Valerie Hamaker of Latter Day Struggles Podcast joined Steven Pynakker to Interview Author, Playwrite, Feminist Mormon Icon Carol Lynn Pearson. Unfortunatly, the interview was never released because it was intended to be a preview of a series of interviews that Valerie and Steven had planned to conduct with Pearson. Events beyond our control prevented this from happening. With the recent passing of Carol Lynn we felt it was important to finally release this previously unknown conversation that we hope will bless you. RIP Carol Lynn Pearson you legacy will always be remembered and honored in this space.

Jacob Hansen and Kolby Reddish have a conversation. Thanks to everyone here for helping inform this conversation!

Kolby Reddish and Jacob Hansen return to Mormon Book Reviews to talk with Steven Pynakker about Same Sex Couples adopting children, why the Prophets Seers and Revelators of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were wrong about the Black Priesthood Ban for 130 years, and how the Collective Witness model works to understand truth.

This evening I'll be taping a conversation between Jacob Hansen & Kolby Reddish. Please leave any questions or comments here to help inform the conversation. (More info below)

This conversation was set up between us after Jacob had made some comments about how the church was always wrong about the Black Priesthood ban and that Progressives in the Church are a "cancer". Jacob agreed to have a conversation about this topic with Kolby Reddish and myself. I'm not exactly sure when I'll release it, but it'll be tomorrow or Monday on my platform Mormon Book Reviews on YouTube. Please keep the questions and comments civil. Thanks in advance.

Queer Mormon Church at Sunstone!

Evan Sharley returns to talk with Steven Pynakker about a new book of Revelations given to The Restoration Church of Jesus Christ in the past and finally compiled in one place by her. We also discuss this trailblazing church that was created for LGBTQ believers in the Restoration that many feel laid the groundwork for the Reform Mormonism movement. She also previews the booth that Reform Mormonism will have at this year's Sunstone Conference and all the cool stuff they will be giving out!

*For a short period of time I accidently posted the logo of a different Restoration Branch on the Thumbnail. The Covenant Christian community and Reform Mormonism group are not affililated with each other. I apologize for the mistake.

Christian Flag with Cross flying at an LDS Ward? I've reached out to the person who took this alleged photo. If you have any information about this please DM. Thanks.

Does anyone have any information about the River Revival Network? It has a Bethel connection, but they are seemingly trying to scrub their affiliation.

My name is Steven Pynakker and I work in the Mormon space and it appears that a Bethel affiliated guy is trying to infiltrate our community. I've reached out to the mods and received permission to post this. Also, I am not a Mormon (aka Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) but I am a Deconstructed Evangelical.

Micah Wilder an Anti-Mormon Evangelical Sex Cult Leader. An interview with author Dave Chadwick about this tragic story.

Steven Pynakker interviews Dave Chadwick, author of the Mormon missionary horror novel Curse of Scruffy. Steven and Dave discuss Dave’s life, faith journey, creative work, and the experiences that shaped his unusual entry into Mormon-themed fiction. They also explore Dave’s research into the downfall of the band Adam’s Road and its founder, Micah Wilder, including how that story influenced his own writing and thinking. By all accounts Lynn Wilder, Matt Wilder and some others affiliated with the Adam's Road ministry were not fully aware of Micah's behavior and certainly do not condone it.

A lot of South Siders like to claim that because Pope Leo is a White Sox fan, that the team has some Divine favour. However, this past Fourth of July Holiday week suggests to me that the Mormon Missionaries that attended one of the greatest offensive games in Cubs history proves otherwise.

Final score was 23-3

What Mormon Prophets REALLY think about America w/ J. Danny Chadwick

Steven Pynakker interviews J. Danny Chadwick, compiler of the new volume "Prophets, Pioneers, and Patriots: Liberty, Zion, and American Ideals in the Journal of Discourses". Steven and Danny discuss the origins of the book, Danny’s personal faith journey through Mormonism, and the spark that led him to gather early Latter-day Saint sermons on America, liberty, the Constitution, Zion, and the kingdom of God. They also talk about how the book was created, including the role of public-domain and Creative Commons source texts, modern technology, and large language models in making the project possible. Along the way, Danny reflects on how working with these sermons has affected his own life and faith, and what he hopes Americans, Latter-day Saints, and Utahns might take from this collection as the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Pauline Hancock Book of Mormon & Jerald & Sandra Tanner

Here is a description I asked my guest Jason to write about this important interview:

In this episode, Jason R Smith talks with Steven Pynakker about Pauline Hancock, the first woman to lead a Book of Mormon believing church. Hancock's influence was far-reaching and she was particularly instrumental in the early ministry of Jerald and Sandra Tanner, outspoken critics of Mormonism.
