How is anyone taking Harvard Law seriously anymore?

https://preview.redd.it/b829fpov3zhh1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=8549ef7d7a0fdf53912ed0886ca533da1e996eac

Seriously, the last time I had an attorney tell me they graduated from Harvard (during an upstate luncheon/CLE retreat) I couldnt help but be like, "ah, well thats quite interesting!" Maybe I am a jaded 30 year old but the whole pedigree from T14 is so expired and the secret is out: major institutions like Harvard are riddled with the rich and powerful who were all too happy to take money from Mr. Epstein and friends even right up to 2008 and AFTERWARD.

No, I didnt go to a fancy shiny law school but I am proud that I did not, since the worst thing my Dean ever did was get a little too drunk on St. Patrick's Day (he was Irish to be fair). But cmon, can we all stop pretending that Harvard Law is a respectable institution? Not saying the grads are not well trained and talented, but most of those grads go into BigLaw anyway and um... many of those firms are just as bad.

No one in my family wanted the samosas I ordered…

  1. My dad already left to get food, and I ordered them before I noticed he had already left.
  2. My brother and his girlfriend were about to go out to have a sit down dinner
  3. The filling was too spicy for my mom

Would LOVE and 100% GIVE ALL MY MONEY to a yoga studio

C'mon, how is there no cute yoga studio on Lefferts? I am so tired of driving to LIC to my favorite studio (Form + Flow) when a business like that could easily thrive in KG. There are 2 "studios" I've tried on Austin but my experience at those places didn't make-up for the 15-20 min walk I'd do with my mat. Rent cant possibly be that bad. Anyone else?

Sharing my 1 in a billion story because I’ve had a rough year.

TLDR: I scored a huge 2 bedroom rent stabilized prewar in a beautiful neighborhood near transit for $1,300.

Without going into the details, 2026 was rough for me. Financially speaking, not so much. I got a new job. Pays well but is very stressful. Got burnt out. Just as I approach my lowest ive felt in years, a miracle happened.

I moved into a nice spacious rent stabilized pre-war in queens in 2024. Building is nice. Rent was around $2,200. I got many compliments on it even at that price. It’s a lucky score even in this economy.

April 2026: my super tells me a 2 bedroom is going for rent upstairs, and I can have first dibs if I want it. With my new job, I’m like hell why not? I live alone but my guests and parents can stay in the spare room and even make it into an art studio. Maybe one day have a family.

Bad news: the unit was deregulated in 2024. Tax credits expired. Oh well. It was rented to me for $2,600. Not bad right? I didn’t complain. But I did keep a note in the back of my mind to order a rent history from DHCR when I had the time.

Good news: I got a letter from DHCR two nights ago that was sent to all tenants in the building. It declared all units in the building are stabilized. None are deregulated. My landlord was never receiving tax credits. I was like, whoa. Okay. The next morning, landlord calls me up and tells me he made a mistake (no shit?) but that he was going to issue me a new lease with the new calculated rent.

This is the part I find most interesting: my new rent is now ~$1300. This is because the unit was empty for 3 years as the landlord didn’t not want to rent it for that much. The old tenants were in this unit for 60 years. So I only have this unit because he tried to rent it to me. Otherwise, it would probably remain empty.

I’m thankful my landlord got ahead of it and just told me the truth. He didn’t know I got a letter. Would much rather this than drag him through the rent overcharge administrative process. I’m going to get a FAT check from the rents I’ve paid the last few months.

It’s like winning the lottery. It might be even better than winning the lottery. I’m keeping this place till the day I die I’d imagine. It’s beautiful too. 8 windows and wall moulding, hardwood. I don’t mean to brag. But for the first time in my life, I feel like I have financial freedom. It’s truly incredible. Life has its moments. This is mine.

Why is the trip out of grand central such a crawl?

I swear it takes 15 minutes just to crawl out of the tunnel. And once we leave the tunnel, it’s 5 mph until we pass woodside (which my train doesn’t stop at). What gives? It always means a late arrival for me.

I can’t crash out on food like I used to

I’m only on 1.5 and I have been for over two months. About to graduate to 4 as I have started noticing the food noise increasing. I’ve been snaking here and there, and can eat a whole meal now.

But I cannot, repeat, CANNOT, crash out on food like I used to. I lowkey had a binge eating problem and could put down several meals with snacks on a given day. Now, I struggle to eat a whole chipotle bowl for dinner. I did manage to eat a whole bowl and even a couple chips, BUT that was my capacity for the day. No late night snacks or bonus meals.

I’d imagine this is how we should be. Eat what you need, what you want, but don’t self destruct. Id imagine this is what it’s like to be regulated. I appreciate it A LOT and I’m so much more conscious of every bite I eat, which was always my goal. I want a healthy relationship with food and the 1.5 has helped a lot.

Wish me luck on 4 mg.

(29F) Tried to avoid Ozempic Face, was unable to... I think there is something else going on

I've lost weight rapidly before. I was really trying to avoid too rapid of a loss to avoid Ozempic Face, as it were. Ive lost about 15 lbs since April 7. Is that a ton of weight? In my opinion, no not really but I've 100% experienced hollowing below my eyes and generally around the neck. I am feeling quite pretty and attractive, but considering I have another 20 lbs or so I want to lose, I am worried that the face sag will get too intense.

Not to disregard all the literature but there HAS to be something encouraging the hollowness in the face. Its so distinct and not at all like my experience losing 15 lbs in the past.

Graduated law school 2023, am currently in my 2nd role post-graduation. I am over three months into this role, and its been going alright. The health insurance is a godsend. I am still in the early stages of my diagnosis (ie still getting tests, need 2nd opinion, etc.) Im in NY so I know theres like paid time off for shit like this, but does anyone have any guidance or have veen through this?

I don't know what my treatment journey will be like, so maybe its hard to ask this question before knowing but I wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with a diagnosis relatively early in their career. Thank you.
