Is there anything about Sjögren’s that causes dental crowns to fall out easily?

I know there’s potentially other causes, just wondering if Sjögren’s has anything to do with it.

My crowns fall out every few months despite excessive precautions. Temp ones barely last a week.

I couldn’t find any correlation when I searched.

What's the CPE class itself like?

I'm about to start my first CPE class soon. I am already familiar with the placement itself and have no questions at all about that.

I am wondering what the CPE class itself is like. I'm not sure what the correct words are--the classroom hours portion of the CPE experience. What happens during those classes? Do we have homework assignments that need to be done in addition to class and placement hours?

[Desktop web-Edge] Can't create polls in any sub

I can't create polls for subs that I'm the top mod and mod of. The poll option is totally missing.

I've confirmed both subs have the poll post type enabled. For the one I'm top mod of, r/Sjogrens, I've actually created polls in the past, so I know how to do it. 🙂

👀Shared Directory of Provider Reviews

I have created a directory at the request of the members of this sub.

This is just a collection of your feedback and should be interpreted as individual people's opinions only, so take it all fwiw.

The intent is to help people find specialists who treat Sjogren's and are knowledgeable about it.

Hope this is helpful.

One step forward, one step back on Vought's politicization of American science

In genuinely good news, Senate Republicans look set to join us in putting a (temporary) stop to Russell Vought’s proposed rule politicizing billions in federal grants. The leadership on the Senate Appropriations Committee has reached a bipartisan agreement on a bill to fund the government through December 11th, delaying any painful choices until after midterms, and the resolution includes a block on the implementation of the Vought proposal while it’s in effect. We’re still a ways away from seeing this passed into law (it cleared the first procedural barriers in the Senate 89-4, but it’s unclear how the House will respond) and Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) reports the GOP explicitly rejected an effort to kill the rule permanently, but our voices are clearly being heard on this disastrous measure.

In the meantime, the work continues. In June, the National Science Foundation quietly updated its Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide to align with the not-yet-finalized OMB rule, essentially attempting to implement it before it’s finalized. But like the proposal itself, this guidance is subject to public comment, open through August 24th.

Stand Up for Science is urging us to get our objections on record ASAP. ✍🏻 We can submit here, find guidance on how to write our comments from Elisabeth Marnik, PhD here, from Elizabeth G. here and from SUFS (aka Science Fight Club) here. ✍🏾

🏫 SUFS will be holding a seminar on this new element to Vought’s threats next Friday at 2PM ET. We can sign up to learn more with them here. 🏫

Public comment on the proposed DACA rule closes Aug 4

Aliento, a Phoenix based organization working with DACA recipients and undocumented students, says DHS and USCIS have proposed a rule that would introduce discretionary barriers for DACA applicants tied to arrests, charges or allegations rather than convictions alone. Aliento says the proposal does not change DACA's existing eligibility requirements outright, but could still have significant consequences for applicants. The rule is not yet in effect and the federal public comment window is open until tomorrow August 4.

Personalizing the comment in your own words is encouraged, since identical form comments carry less weight in the federal record. 😊

Nee Jolie NailMuse?

https://preview.redd.it/tt2ko40cxggh1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=08d606740f4103a2758d054c506c5fb3b6a8c78d

Is this a safe and effective product?

I have naturally long nails but a few of them break regularly. I would like a way to fix the broken ones instead of cut them all down each time when it happens.

I imagine I would do a full set of these nails and the product would allow me to extend the broken ones so it all works out. Would that look natural or would the longer ones' white part show through and look mismatched?

How do you get these babies off? Does it damage your nail or hurt when you remove them?

Is there a similar product from a more reputable company? I can't find any.

There's so little information on the site and sites selling similar products. It seems too good to be true--then again, I've bought beauty products that seem too good to be true and sometimes they're actually good.

Alllll of the reviews on their site are 5 stars, like they were written by AI.

Tell Your Senator - Vote NO on the SAVE ACT

The House has attached the SAVE Act as a provision to the National Defense Authorization Act, a must-pass defense spending bill, that the administration wants to hold hostage until it includes the voter suppression they need to win the midterm elections.

The SAVE Act would require all eligible Americans to provide proof of citizenship by presenting a passport or birth certificate when registering to vote. This is IN ADDITION to state voter ID laws already in place.

Here's the problem: More than half of Americans don't have a passport. Millions also lack easy access to birth certificates— especially married women whose legal names no longer match their birth certificates. With 8 in 10 married women changing their surname, many would face major hurdles just to vote in the next U.S. election.

The consequences would be devastating.

The cost of obtaining these documents is an unofficial poll tax on the poor, people of color, young people, married women, and LGBTQIA+ voters.

The SAVE Act would also upend online voter registration in 42 states, making it impossible for Americans to register to vote by mail, and STOP voter registration drives nationwide.

Take action: Tell your Senators to vote NO on ANY bill that has the SAVE Act attached-- including the NDAA. Our right to vote is at risk! Legislative trickery should not be used to sneak voter suppression into federal law.

Attend your local school board & government meetings

This is something most people can do.

School boards, city councils and the like are being infiltrated by people actively implementing Project 2025. They are doing this right now in your community. This is your chance to push democratic norms, speak up if you want to and report religious overreach.

If you can't go in person, stream it.

Report religious overreach to Freedom From Religion Foundation or similar organizations.

If an official does or says something inappropriate or untrue, speak up when you're allowed to make a public comment, and follow up with letters to the editor and social media posts.

Imagine if every single one of these meetings had 10 pro-democracy people in the audience doing this.

Volunteer for things you can. If your city has a volunteer board who votes on which organizations get licenses or grants, join and ensure a fair voice is included. If your school board has a committee to select books, join and ensure ridiculous book banning or hateful content gets voted against.

Do they pray before the meeting? Sign up to be the one to lead the prayer. Include affirmations about equality, fairness, etc.

Don't cede your local ground. Nobody else participating ensures the P2025 people get their way.

Urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to Vote NO on Todd Blanche Confirmation

https://ujoin.co/campaigns/4551/actions/public?action\_id=7121

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche treated the Epstein files like a PR problem instead of the largest sex trafficking investigation in American history. Under his watch, the Department of Justice exposed survivors’ personal information, left millions of files unreleased, and failed to pursue accountability or investigations into perpetrators who are still alive today. Survivors deserve an attorney general committed to justice and protecting survivors, not damage control.

Urge the Senate Judiciary Committee to vote NO on Todd Blanche's confirmation for Attorney General.

Dangerous Cuts to Public Health Surveillance of Transfused Blood: Help Bring Congressional Staff to the 7/22/26 Briefing

https://preview.redd.it/xkswz68c22dh1.png?width=1686&format=png&auto=webp&s=2cc964a1694b5655f39f56b3d0125fc70fdba505

Action requested: Click here to email your Congresspersons or email, call or visit your Congresspersons' offices separately

Why: CDC's programs that monitor infections in our nation's blood supply were closed in April 2025. These programs effectively halted the HIV and Hepatitis C infections in clotting factor (used by people with bleeding disorders) in the 80s/90s. Such a pandemic ultimately affects:

  • Persons with bleeding disorders
  • Persons with cancers
  • Persons with sickle cell anemia
  • Burn victims
  • Military
  • Law enforcement
  • YOU or your loved ones, if you need a transfusion for any reason

Pleas, protests, ongoing outreach to CDC and visits to Congresspersons have not been successful so far.

History: No More Bad Blood

Opportunity: On Wednesday, July 22, a congressional briefing will be held about the work of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by the “Friends of NCBDDD” coalition.

The CDC's Division of Blood Disorders (DBD) sits within NCBDDD and delivers critical bleeding disorders programs that our community depends on. including public health surveillance, research, data collection, and initiatives that improve care and health outcomes for people living with bleeding disorders. Helping congressional offices better understand the importance of NCBDDD also helps reinforce the value of the Division of Blood Disorders and the work it does on behalf of our community.

Please take just a few minutes to email your U.S. Representative and both of your U.S. Senators, inviting them to send a member of their staff to attend the briefing. A strong turnout from congressional offices will help increase awareness of NCBDDD's work and the vital role the Division of Blood Disorders plays in improving the lives of people with bleeding disorders.

Thank you for taking action to help ensure Congress understands the importance of these programs and the continued need to support the CDC's Division of Blood Disorders.
