lawandcrime.com"Task failed successfully." - Chili peppers, probably
Millions of years ago, the ancestors of the plants we call chili peppers had a dilemma: how could they discourage mammals from eating their fruit without deterring the birds they would have liked to eat the fruit (since the seeds were more likely to make it through a bird's digestive system intact). Their answer? A toxin called capsaicin, which instilled a burning sensation in the mouths of mammals but not birds. Then bipedal, mostly hairless primates called humans crossed the Bering Strait. When they came across these peppers, they actually liked the sensation capsaicin provided and were perfectly willing to eat them. While it might have seemed like the plants' strategy had backfired, humans developed agriculture and spread chili peppers to areas which they could never have reached on their own, so it was more of a win-win.
And yes, I know this kind of straddles the line between history and prehistory, and chili peppers didn't consciously choose this strategy, but I hope neither of these dampened your enjoyment of my meme.

edition.cnn.comA retired general walks into a hotel bar, dressed in his old uniform, and sits down next to an attractive young woman.
They hit it off, and since she has a thing for men in uniform, she asks, "Why don’t you come up to my room?”
He responds with, "I'm flattered, but at my age, I'm not sure things would work out the way you hope."
She says, "but you're the distinguished kind of old, and you're still in good shape... tell me, when was the last time you had sex?"
"Oh...", the general responds sheepishly, "sometime around 1958".
"Well," says the young woman, "I'm sure it'll all come back to you."
So they end up in bed together, and the general leaves her wowed. When it's all over, she says, "General, that was wonderful! I knew you hadn't forgotten a thing since 1958!"
The general responds, "Well, I should certainly hope not. It's only 2130 now."
