I love them so much

Hey everyone, I just needed a place to gush about this ship because it has done something to my brain that no other piece of media ever has.

For some context, I've never been to big on shipping culture. Outside of a few character dynamics that I really like I've never really had serious investment in fictional character relationships in other anime shows or games.

But putting these two together? The chemistry and the dynamic changed me.

There is something so alluring about this ship. Their dynamic leads to so many interactions that are over-the-top cute. Not even accounting for the aesthetic appeal of their design contrast, something about these 2 being in love just hits me. Ruby brings out the best parts of Weiss and Weiss brings out the best parts of Ruby. Maybe the parts that the characters don't share with anyone else but each other.

Just for the record, I'm not personally attracted to either of them aside from the fact that they are aesthetically cute. It's almost like I'm crushing on the ship and not the characters.

And yeah, it's really the cute factor that hits for me. I feel like as an outsider to shipping culture, I've always viewed things like fanfic to be sexual in nature, but that's not at all the case with the WR content I've been finding and recently seeking out. And it's like I want them to stay pure in that regard. That said I love some playful innuendos and heavy flirtation, but keep the more, let's say intimate, parts simply implied.

Honestly I'm so in love with this ship that if Weiss canonically ends up with Jaune or anyone other than Ruby I will be outraged. Even though I think Ruby is too in love with the plot for a relationship in the show, but I digress.

Anyway, I just wanted to gush about this ship. Anyone else start out mostly indifferent to shipping until WhiteRose (lovingly) ruined them?

I read Through the Flames by Mikotyzini, and I need to talk about it

Mikotyzini is and always has been and always will be my favorite fanfic writer. Rush was my first introduction to WhiteRose, and quickly made it my favorite ship. Flashing Lights and Diva are also among the best I've read and just reinforced that love.

But Through the Flames is something else. I didn't expect anything to beat what I've read, but this story is legitimately among the straight up best fiction I've ever read. The emotion that comes though this writing is beyond words, it shakes me to my core and has left me breathless. The romance, the angst, the ups, the downs, the rollercoaster it's taken me on. The dichotomy of feel-good and tragedy is masterful. I've been more emotionally invested in this fic than I thought I could be in fanfiction.

Anyway, I just need to gush about this fic, it is unbelievable, it will make you love WhiteRose even more. I highly recommend you dop everything and read this story, it will change your life.

I'm so happy and thankful for Mikotyzini for sparking my love of our two dorks and indirectly introducing me to this wonderful community.

Is there still a weekly Smash Bros local at the UMC?

When I was an undergrad there was a Smash Bros weekly tournament open to students and non-students alike. When covid hit the local shut down and I don't know if it ever came back in some capacity.

Why is ECB rising in price recently?

I've had an ECB in the bank for forever, since I switched to an SGB when EGW arrows became the meta. But I really just like the look of the ECB and didn't have the heart to EoF it. As the arrow meta got bigger the ECB was tanking in price.

I've been on my GIM for the past several months and thus haven't checked GE prices in a while, and back on my main I see that suddenly ECB price is dramatically rising? Why is this? When I went full-time to my GIM it was al like 670, now it's back up to 878?

It's not back to the same value I originally bought it at, around 1.1b, but why is it going up now?

Elite Tectonic or Masterwork Magic with an FSOA?

Never used much magic but after running with the FSOA and crit build in Leagues I have fallen in love with the style. I'm hoping at least some of that love transfers into the main game.

Assuming that I have the cash to cover either, is Masterwork Magic or Elite Tectonic better with the FSOA? I'm leaning that Elite Tectonic is better due to the crit passive that has massive synergy with the spec, plus flexibility with boot and glove slots. But I also recognize that Masterwork is better in stats or in passive if I'm taking a lot of damage.

I'm not super experienced with magic in PvM settings, being primarily a ranger, so I'm trying to determine if Masterwork is that important for surviving some mechanics such that it outweighs the benefits of the Elite Tectonic crit chance.

Or do I just keep grinding money until I can afford Tumeken's?

Any input welcome.

Leagues crit build is the best if you're trying to learn PvM

In my journey I started with crit, respec'd into Lord of Light, respec'd into poison/barkscales, and ultimately went back to crit. Final blessing build is szsS gzzZ.

I wholeheartedly believe this is the best experience if you're hoping to use the League to learn PvM and transfer that knowledge to your main account. LoL and Poison have gimmicks that can trivialize bosses but the crit build is basically just regular gameplay but with damage cranked up to 11.

With this build and Icyenic Faith I've been able to experience basically every boss mechanic and not get merc'd by chip damage or messing up a mechanic once or twice. All of the other builds having all of the DPS on a timer is fine for novelty but they don't actually teach anything. With crit I actually experience and have to learn how to handle mechanics.

Going back to the main game I'm sure I'm going to struggle with incoming damage, not being able to just take the flat nullification from Icyenic Faith, but I feel very confident in my actual ability and knowledge to handle mechanics in the main game that I didn't before this League.

Are the Heart achievements possible with Barkscales/poison build?

I'm currently working on the League task to get every The Heart combat achievement. I've gotten the hard mode killcount on everything, but I'm having trouble with the Helwyr task to keep 4 wolves alive and the Twins task to utilize the blue bomb attack.

This issue with both of these is that I have the Barkscales blessing, so if I get hit 5 times the boss gets hit with a poison proc of 20k+ every few seconds. Even if I turn off revo, unequip my weapon, and switch from Deflect to Protect prayers, they always die before those mechanics happen. On Helwyr there's no way to keep those dogs alive for more than 2 seconds.

I'm literally standing in the hard mode arena, weapon in my inventory, using a standard prot prayer, and the bosses kill themselves.

Is there a way to like turn this off? Can I use an anti-poison on the bosses? I was planning on doing 1 more respect anyway but this seems like a massive oversight.

What the hell are people doing to get dragon so fast?

I've been playing pretty consistently since the first day and I'm only at 43k points. I've got 21 skills at 99, 16 skills at 50m. Done every boss a dozen times for kc tasks, a lot of HM bosses, 4000 points from some of the grandmaster boss tasks. Everything that is within my ability that I can think to do has been done, and I'm still 5000 points away.

So what are people doing to get dragon in like a week??

Logistics to hosting and organizing a local?

Not sure if this is the right sub or if this is a valid question, but here goes.

I have only a couple friends who play Smash (Ultimate) and in my area there are no regular locals to speak of. And what started out as an off-hand comment, we started thinking about the possibility of hosting our own.

Does anyone have experienced as a TO? We have a potential venue at a local indie arcade, but disregarding venue are they any big outlying issues to consider? I have very little experience with locals at all, only going to a few when there was a weekly hosted at my university before covid killed it any it never came back.

This might be outlandish to consider, but as my friends and I see it there could be a need and we might be able to satisfy it.

I've never seen this follow-up attack

I have hundreds of hours in this game, and suddenly got this weird follow-up attack with Ryuji. It's not his standard follow-up where he goes in on his own, but he does this duo thing with Joker.

Why am I only seeing this animation now, is there some requisite that I never had before?

Justice rank 8 event

Fun fact for Justice rank 8 and the duel with Akechi. The Robin Hood he uses for the duel is different than the Robin Hood he uses in your party.

I had spent some time leveling Akechi in Mementos, such that the Robin Hood in my party had learned Megidolaon, the 'severe' variant. Yet in the duel, Robin Hood used Megidola, the 'heavy' variant. In grinding I had dropped the latter and replaced it with the former, but the event Akechi's loadout was different.

And unfortunately it was a very easy fight because of the level differential which is a huge bummer. I wish I had known to do the rank event before leveling Akechi.

"Clean" NG run, grey area of using DLC as fusion material

Spoiler just in case.

It's been a long time since I've done a fresh NG run, and my gimmick this time is no gimmick. I'm attempting to play the game how a "casual" would play the game. I'm not actively building and optimizing personas, and even if I get a spell like Victory Cry thru network fusion I replace it. And the important thing to not is that I am not playing with DLC personas.

I'm at the mid point of Sae's palace right now, and I'm now at a moral crossroads. I have the Twins at rank 10, and once I finish this palace I will have Judgement rank to, in theory the ability to fuse Satan. And with the Twins VIP perk I have the money to do so. There are 4 ways to fuse him, one of which requires Faith rank 10, which is unattainable until mid-late January, and the other 3 use Messiah Pic, a DLC persona.

I am currently at odds with myself if I can justify using DLC personas as fusion material if I'm still imposing the rule of not using them for combat. Satan will be a huge benefit in Shido's palace and beyond, but I don't know if I will feel to much like a power spike that I have not earned, and could soil the run.

And not to mention that at some point I would love to break out Lucifer which I can only do post-Shido because of Justice rank 10 being a req, and Satan is a part of that fusion. So if I go the route of not using DLC at all, then Lucifer will also be locked out until very late game because of Sumi's confidant. Likely couldn't use him in Maruki's palace at all.

Just airing this out here, this is likely just a me thing that is feeling this conflicted.
