Such beautiful words wrapped in a false light.
Now dark, they shatter like your promises—broken and gone.
Now dark, they shatter like your promises—broken and gone.
They say words are a weapon
fine tuned
sharp
deadly
but they never mention
the silence
the absence
the loss……
the ending.
(I wanted to try prose)
Simple, direct, and to the point—that’s how she’s always been. Efficient and clear, she moves forward, quietly wandering where she needs to go. When life blocks her path, she doesn’t cause a scene; she simply steps aside and continues. She’s plain, they say, if they even bother to notice. And that’s ok. For inside her lives a quiet kind of wildness. The fires of passion burn molten, the laughter is beautiful, booming strong and deep, and her playful mischievous nature strains for its release. But they don’t usually get to see.
She woke and reached for warmth,
but only a cold emptiness
met her hand.
The whisper of laughter,
the remnants of joy,
the feelings of excitement
fled into the grey morning.
She shook her head
to clear these thoughts,
to chase them far away.
For that was how she found her strength
to make it through her day.
From her mind they take a tumble,
The words come out all a jumble.
She shifts them around,
Tries out their sound,
And creates a most pleasant rumble.
She wears her heart on her sleeve.
Perhaps she should not.
"Protect it," they say,
"Don’t give it away.
Keep it secret, keep it safe,
Lock it up in a faraway place."
She laughs when she hears,
As if someone cares.
It’s old, bruised, and battered—
This heart, to no one, matters.
With head held high,
She leaves it lie
Upon her arm.
Beating softly,
She goes on.
God, she wished it could be simple—just a scrap of paper with will you be my friend? carefully written on it.
His hand, sliding gently
over the curved slopes,
journeyed down the soft, generous plain
until he reached the secret valley.
His glistening fingers explored,
penetrating the depths
while teasing the pulsing mound...
until, with a gasp,
she shattered—
his touch guiding her
through the storm.
Hand cradling her cheek,
He presses his lips to hers,
Two hearts beat as one
(My first attempt at this WOW thing please be gentle)
With every ripple,
The water mirrored the blushing sunset.
With every wave,
Her reflection grew distorted.
Her heart whispered,
“That seems about right,”
As she stood on the shoreline,
Drowned in shadow.
Soft under her hand,
Light pressure, slowly stroking,
There… a gentle purr
Reaching out to brush a tear from her cheek he replied “No- you are holding the rest of us together.”
She had kept his words
close to her heart,
treasured,
believed.
She knew better now.
Lifting her arm,
she opened her palm,
and watched them fade away
