Replacement light fixture

I am having a hard time deciding what to replace this light fixture over our island with. My style is very cottage-y and vintage but I also like some modern elements. The main issue is that our ceilings are very low and having a fixture like this makes the ceilings feel even lower. Would something more flush mount look ok? Would love some ideas!!

Convulsive VS with needles happening again, feeling embarrassed and upset

I’m a 39F. I started having VS specifically with blood draws and sometimes with acupuncture as well. The first time I remember fainting from needles was after I got my belly button pierced when I was 18 years old. Ever since then it’s been an issue but in my 30s I started to overcome it a bit instead of avoiding it because I at least need to be able to get bloodwork done.

In the past few years I’ve had several successful blood draws and vaccines with no issues. Then a few months ago I passed out at an event where I got acupuncture (very simple treatment, not many needles), fell out of my chair and hit my head on the floor. Then today I passed out at a routine blood draw and got extremely sick and nauseous, sweating like crazy. I threw up twice. They wouldn’t let me leave for a while so they could monitor me. One of the employees had to stay late after they closed to make sure I was ok. They said I was convulsing like I was having a seizure which hasn’t happened in years. I’ve felt sick rest of the day… luckily had saltines and Gatorade.

I’m so ashamed and embarrassed that this is happening again. I don’t even understand why like the needle doesn’t hurt at all and the lab I go to has very experienced people. My sister who is a medical professional doesn’t help bc she says she’s never heard of this happening to anyone and it feels kind of dismissive.

Does stuff like this happen to other people? What has helped you overcome it?

Struggling after gaining weight back during rough patch

Hey all. Last year I (38F) lost over 25 lbs using CICO, walking, and weightlifting. Went from 180lb to 154 which had been my lowest since my 20s when I was under 140lb. I felt great and my confidence improved, looked much better, my body felt good and I built muscle and strength too.

Unfortunately, after some life events and relationship stress, buying a house, moving in October and losing our dog to cancer last month, I’ve gained back nearly 15lb since the fall. I have been back into my habits of exercising and weighing/tracking my food, but not always consistently, so the scale is not budging past a few pounds. I was 168 this morning. I am an emotional eater so I am sure that has not been helping.

I feel such a loss of confidence and not looking forward to summer and wearing a swimsuit right now whereas last summer I was all about it and wanting to wear tanks and shorts all the time, even wore crop tops. I also feel burnt out and tracking is overwhelming me at times. I feel like a failure because I finally got to my weight loss goal and now here I am all over again.

Not sure what I need here but maybe someone can relate or has advice. Thank you for reading ❤️

Thorne Creatine Monohydrate

Hi all. I’ve been taking about 2.5g of the Thorne Creatine MH for about 2 weeks. Unfortunately it seems like I am one of the people who get the GI symptoms and bloating even on such a low dose. I really don’t feel like myself.

Wondering if anyone else experienced this issue and if it’s better to switch to a Creatine HCL product instead or keep going until my body adjusts? I really don’t want to be feeling like this in a few weeks but everyone keeps talking about the benefits of creatine so I don’t want to give up.

Thanks for any advice!

Today’s food log

Getting back into my tracking this week. I hit most of my targets and came in right under my calorie goal.

Had Eggs, toast and chicken sausage for breakfast. Tuna salad wrap for lunch made at home with Greek yogurt is the GOAT for protein goals! Then an easy dinner with a Kevin’s meal with rice & green beans. Drizzalicious are my absolute fav after dinner snack.

Came in just under my 1720 calorie goal with 131g protein.

Hi all- Its been about 6 months since my treatment was completed. I thought my teeth would have “settled” more by now but if skip my retainer for even one single night my teeth look and feel very different by the next day.

My ortho only told me to wear my retainer at night which is what I’ve been doing. Is it normal for my teeth to be shifting like this? Should I be wearing rhe retainer during the day?

Just did Alex’s club bangers from 4/25 and it crushed!! 🥵🔥 Is it bad to double up and do the 2pm club bangers live ride too ?? 🤣 I actually was trying to do Emma’s low impact live ride today but it kept glitching for me which I haven’t had an issue with before.

Hello all. I work on a small team at a non profit. I have worked there for over 10 years. I am on a senior management team along with several other senior managers. I noticed some workflow issues with a particular task within my department and created an ad-hoc committee of the people involved in the particular task to work through it.

A few weeks later, I get several lengthy emails from one of my peer managers (who is not at all involved in these tasks) asking to be in these meetings because it pertains to their level of expertise and that they need to be involved for X Y and Z reasons. She also CC’d our boss and others in the working group. The way it was worded seemed very defensive and unnecessary.

I agreed to allow her to attend the meetings as she requested to as I am not hiding anything—but explained the purpose of the committee did not involve her area, and that anything that concerned her area would be communicated and she would be included. However that didn’t seem to help and she continued to take it personally as if she was being intentionally excluded and bypassed.

Later in the day, I noticed she was being CC’d on basic emails to me that had nothing to do with her whatsoever. One of her reports then sent an email to her and CC’d me with a list of any upcoming meetings scheduled with me the next week (these are regular meetings that again have nothing to do with her).

This peer manager has had issues with almost every single employee where I work (many staff have said that she creates a toxic and unhealthy environment) and burned many bridges due to her insecurity and taking minor things extremely personally. We had some conflicts in the past but mostly had a good working relationship - we even had lunch together just last week.

TLDR: Peer manager felt intentionally excluded and bypassed in meetings that didn’t need her oversight or involvement. How do I deal with her passive aggressiveness and micromanaging without being defensive or losing my cool? I also want to protect myself professionally as she is CC’ing our boss.

Hello! I need a 4 week strength program that is not for beginners (intermediate to advanced) focused on progressive overload and is NOT HIIT.

I started Total Strength with Andy in the past but it was too easy. I usually do a 6 week 3 day/week full body strength training program through an online personal trainer (not through Peloton) but have a break in their programming and want to try something new.

Appreciate any suggestions.
