hes not exactly a super major character but he's got some banger ass lines/moments imo so i wanted to ask what yall think.
my favorite has to be the hentai joke it takes me out every time. him juking troy like a dbd survivor pro is a strong second place
I do not fathom why else would these people get so mad about these posts
I know other mods let you do far more heinous shit it's just that I find it funny Ars of all things is like this too
He thinks I'm sharing the deep secrets of the Benzene Dao out of kindness or spite for my former sect but I'm doing it because I have to
wainwright & hammerlock as friedrich ahlers-hestermann's young men in a garden pavillion (1904)
Regarding DeadECHOs (spoiler-free)
"ugh another complaining post" No, actually, the exact opposite.
If you at all enjoy the Borderlands setting and style of humor, please, please, PLEASE listen to DeadECHOs. It's great, it's in-universe to a fault, we're only on episode 2 and it's already given the "other" side of the fandom infinitely more speculation fuel than all of BL4 and its DLC. I've had multiple conversations with people so incredibly excited for the next episode they can't even wait a week.
If the credits (and my perceptions of Gearbox) so far are any indication, this is an internal passion project written by the VAs of the series' characters. It's honestly a miracle to see it be promoted so widely on GBX's socials, considering how little they've promoted any non-game Borderlands content up to this point.
What is being released now is Season 1. If we give the creators enough support, we might just get a second season. If we unjustly blame them for the faults of BL4 or whatever else (as I've seen a few times already), then the execs will write it off as a loss.
A confusing thing in Borderlands DeadECHOs (spoilers)
Episode 2 confirms Jakobs apparently has an army.
IF JAKOBS HAD AN ARMY WHERE THE FUCK WERE THEY DURING THE EDEN-6 SHIT
i know aurelia's the ceo at that time and theoretically a corporation should be loyal to its ceo no matter what if shit like atlas and hyperion is any example but jakobs is literally based on institutionalized nepotism. its effectively a corporate feudal monarchy
youre telling me not a single fucking soul wanted to save the one surviving pure-blooded heir
the only explanation that makes sense is wainwright Established a proper army after the fact but I'm lowkey afraid that's not gonna be explicitly said
Not a meme (monday), just sharing the satisfaction I felt using my own KubeJS-coded recipe
and it feels even worse because source is 100000x easier to get a william of
god forbid someone THINKS about. uh. checks notes. how sanctuary citizens get food and water
A criticism of DeadEchos episode 1 (spoilers)
As peak as deadechos is so far I cannot shake the thought that they made Junie a Jakobs because they needed to solve the "jakobs is a family corporation passed down by blood but wainwright is gay and old" issue and just picked the most contrived solution. Long Lost Heir ex Machina, basically.
Wainlock testtube baby was Right There, dawg. But instead we might be getting something that stinks of "we wrote ourselves into a corner and we will not be exploring the implications of that".
Were they afraid of being considered homophobic for addressing the elephant in the room? Did they think test tube baby would be too "woke" (notwithstanding 90% of DeadEchos' audience is Borderlands Lore Enjoyers, an exceptionally queer group of people)?
I'm hoping they try to spin this trope in a way that doesn't make me want to make out with a broken mirror (unlikely), or even that this rumination of mine does not come to pass (unlikelier) but, like, iunno man.
A BL3 story thing that I couldn't unsee once I noticed it (rant)
So, Typhon DeLeon and Leda Calypso.
Leda was an Eridian researcher, a very successful one considering the fact she found their goddamn homeworld. She's also implied to have been a Siren.
But for some inexplicable reason, when Gearbox decided to retcon Tannis' interest in the Vaults and Eridians as being caused by an external source instead of her own insanity, they chose her husband instead.
Ah yes. Because attributing the achievements of a woman scientist to some guy has no horrible historical precedent at all. Because this game doesn't suck Typhon's dick enough. Because Leda was not RIGHT FUCKING THERE. Uh-huh.
FYI, the canon excuse is that Leda "never wrote anything down" because she didn't want that knowledge to fall into the wrong hands. A reasonable thing from a Watsonian standpoint, but from the Doylist one it feels like such a cheap copout.
Maybe I'm just being insane and seeing sexism where there isn't any but once I noticed this I could not unsee it. Anyone else think the same?
so i realized this one gif has immense forum weapon/reaction image potential
What is a bandit, in-universe?
I promise this is a serious question.
For the past year and a half at least I've been going absolutely insane over bandits, namely what the fuck even are they in lore. Is it an arbitrary socially constructed label? Is it an objective one? Why are so many characters that should be considered bandits under most definitions I can think of are never called bandits even once?
I've dug so deep into the topic I feel like I've lost touch with the actual consensus of the fandom, if such a thing even exists. Therefore, I ask the wider community to jog my memory: if you have a clear-cut definition of bandit^1, then please do share it.
^1 With the sole exception of "Dahl convict labor left alone on Pandora", since BL3 more or less decanonized that one by establishing that the CoV had 10 billion members, and there is no way there were this many bandits on Pandora alone considering the lack of intensive agriculture on the planet. Not to mention the frostbiters of Xylourgos and the Devil Riders of Gehenna, which are bandits in everything but name.
