Trinity Solderless ™ Gold 3 Way Toggle Switch Replacement

I hope this isn’t against the rules or anything because I would gladly buy an EMG solderless 3-position toggle switch in gold if they made one - but they don’t. This seems to be the only solderless way to go since official EMG is out.

I have changed all of the hardware in my ESP EC-256 to gold and all the electronics to active; the very last piece is changing the EMG B289 3-POS switch I used to make it all solderless to a gold switch. It’s going to irritate me until I do it. My goal is I don’t want to re-run the wires - tight as hell.

I can’t tell if this will be just a quick “take the switch cavity plate off, unplug the EMG switch from the quick connectors, swap in the Trinity one, replace the quick connectors, replace the plate, good to go,” or not. Any input or experience?

Import to TONEX 2.0

Has anyone figured out how to import new *.txp files into TONEX 2.0 on Mac? The option to do so isn't in the Presets or Models browser and it's pissing me off.

New Tonex Cab & pedal

After playing through my Mac Mini via an AXE IO since Christmas, I finally took the plunge to get both the Tonex Cab and the full-size Tonex pedal. IK had marked everything down which means so did Guitar Center & Sweetwater.

I just go both in the mail. I’m going to spend the evening hooking it all up and playing around; what would have liked to have known when you first got either the pedal or cab?

Any tips would be appreciated. Just to clarify, the original set up was guitar into my Boss XS-100 drop pedal, into the AXE IO that’s connected to my Mac Mini, then out through Audio-Technica MTH-40x headphones.

Capture Request: Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 100

Having a helluva time tracking down a premium, quality, V2 capture of a Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 100 lead channel with all settings at noon with the Deep switch pushed in. I’m trying to create Hatebreed’s Wayne Lozinak’s tone on the last two records (and his live tone), but I’m just not finding the right capture with these specific settings. I’m even willing to pay something to like Amalgam or Sonic Drive or Metal Junkie Store, but none of them offer it.

Anyone have any ideas or maybe something I’ve totally overlooked?

Am I out of line? - Value considerations.

Good morning!

I’m just here to ask people’s opinions. I’m posting in the Harley Benton community and Reverb community, but also a few other communities to get an idea if I’m off the mark or out of line. I’m completely open to being told I’m undervaluing the item because I’ve only been into guitars for a year, but I feel like this retailer (they have a brick and mortar store) is severely overvaluing this item. If someone buys it for sticker price from this guy, great for them, so I don’t mind posting the pics and someone else scooping it if it’s a “deal.”

On Reverb, this store is selling a used Harley Benton SC-Custom III FR VBK. They retail brand new for $435; B-stock is $362. I know in the US (where I am and so is this store), hundreds of dollars are added for tariffs and import fees, but this store didn’t pay that and I’m sure didn’t take it into consideration when buying or trading for it.

And the condition of this specific item is far from simply B-stock. The stock pickups have been changed to DiMarzios - which I don’t care about and, as I understand it, really doesn’t up the value of a guitar. Or at least shouldn’t. I know stores don’t seem to give a shit if you’ve “upgraded” items - they give you the same no matter what. I’m changing those pickups immediately. I want to put in EMGs and upgrade the tuners and have a decent hardcore riff machine and do dive bombs and palm mutes.

The backplate for the FR cavity is missing. There is a large chunk taken out of the back of the horn. How this guy can ask $350 (plus $50 shipping) is just absurd to me. I believe fair market value for this guitar in mint condition is $300 at best. With the damage to it and the mods I don’t want, I would value it at $200 AT BEST, maybe even lower to me. Hell, they can keep the DiMarzio pickups, electronics, tuners, and even the bridge and stop bar, and I’d still pay about $150 for it since I already own most of the upgrades I want to put in it (which altogether would be $250 for the pickups, $100 for the Grover locking tuners temporary till I buy some cheaper ones and put the Grovers on an actual Epi Les Paul, and $200 for a legit bridge), but they did not go for that idea either.

So, I offered $225 plus the $47 shipping, so about $270. Countered with $320 plus shipping. I feel like he and I just aren’t even in the same ballpark with the valuing of this specific instrument.

I’m not complaining about this guy or store. They have to make money. I’m genuinely wondering if I’m way off the mark and undervaluing; I’m trying to calibrate what things are actually worth. I know it’s subjective.

Setup confusion.

For this particular post, I'm trying to do a proper setup myself on my new Epiphone Les Paul Custom Futura Twilight Shift. And like every other time I've done a setup, I'm screwing up at the truss rod, so everything is off moving forward. There's something about the core concept I'm clearly missing.

Because I've been screwing up and just don't have the experience or knowledge, I got a StewMac Neck Relief Gauge for a good price. I know it's not necessary, but I have it, so it should help me, right?

I zeroed out the gauge by placing it on a table with a bubble level - I adjusted the level until it was perfectly center then adjusted the gauge on top of that level so it was at "0" and tightened the dial lock. So, that means the gauge is calibrated, right?

I then hold the guitar in the playing position and use the neck relief gauge. It initially read 85 - since the bow isn't that obvious to me, that means that the relief is -15. I adjust the rod to get it to 0 - I can't remember which way I turned it (clockwise or counter clockwise, because, by now, neither directly means anything to me - I'm just testing to see which direction gets me to zero). However, once I get to zero, I am having fret buzz on the low frets. That means the truss rod needs to be loosened to add relief, right? So I turn it counter clockwise to loosen it and it goes negative again.

I'm very confused and frustrated because the entire "relief" system feels like dealing with a double-negative in English. Can anyone give me ANY idea how to simplify this or a video that shows me specifically how to use this gauge? The videos I've found only show me the tap/capo ways. I figured with the tool costing $150 new, StewMac would have a white-glove walk-through video, but, no.

WHAT AM I MISSING (BESIDES EVERYTHING)?!

I have an Epiphone Les Paul Futura that I just got. I’m planning on EVENTUALLY changing the ProBucker Ignites to a pairing of EMG 81TW/89R. Im going to play the Ignites for quite awhile, but I know I’ll probably eventually make the switch.

If I do, I’ll want to switch all of the electronics to solderless and I’d also like to keep the push/pull “out-of-phase” effect that is on one of the tone knobs.

Would this do the same thing?

So, in September 2025, I bought myself a birthday present - a Firefly FFLX gloss black with the Snakebyte inlay at the 12th fret. I have upgraded it with locking tuners, black knurled knobs, and a set of black chrome Het Set pickups.

I was trying to adjust the truss rod because of backbow - turning it counter-clockwise while looking down the neck from the headstock - and I heard a big crack. Now the truss rod turns with no resistance and doesn’t seem to be responding to adjustments. There’s no rattle, but it doesn’t see promising.

Have I ruined the guitar? From what I can tell, replacing a truss rod - if I could find a luthier to do it - would be more expensive than the guitar cost. So should I just take the mods out, put the standard stuff back in, and enjoy my new wall art?
