Currys selling an i5 + 16gb RAM Lenovo for £10k ($14k)

My dad sent me this and an i3 version with the same monitor to choose for him. The i3 one was £564 but this one is shocked me when I opened it up and it was listed at £9,999.00

Someone added an extra 9 by mistake?

AHI 6 but longest hypopnea 183s - where to even start?

I had a private at-home sleep apnea test last year, as I have been struggling with nearly falling asleep in school (and then in meetings at work) since I was about 17 (nearly 10 years), often can't make it through the day without napping around 6-7pm, and wake up with headaches a few days per week.

The test came back with an AHI of 6, and the guy who reviewed my results seemed to imply that wouldn't be worth trying CPAP for. However, my longest apnea was 26 seconds, and longest hypopnea 183 seconds with an average hypopnea duration of 53 seconds out of 22 hypopneas in 6hrs. From what I can tell, that hypopnea duration is pretty abnormally long? The person I spoke to was focussed on the AHI which was definitely on the low end, but I don't believe they considered the full picture.

A year has passed at this point still untreated, and I've moved country (UK->Aus) since then. Do you think it's worth getting a CPAP trial?

Does anyone know if specifically in Australia I would need to start the whole process again with a sleep study, to be able to get a CPAP and recommended pressure settings to start with? Or can I give them my Sleep Disorders Clinic results from the UK?

This will be my 2nd time using doctors/healthcare services in 10 years, and this time it's in a different country so I'm a bit lost honestly - I don't even have a GP. I'm not looking for a diagnosis, just advice on what to even do or whether to bother. Thanks.

What do you do after finishing a training program?

Say I just finished a 10-12wk program. I've maxed out in the last couple of weeks, maybe PR'd. Do you normally take eg 4wks of lighter training, off-program, before starting a new program or redoing the last one? Do you jump straight into a new program the week after finishing the last one?

What's common, and what's the rationale?

First week of meaningful study (16hrs)

Set myself a bit of a challenge to be as competent as possible before taking a solo trip to Japan around October this year, trying to do 2-3hrs per day consistently before then. My expectations are low (I'd like to be able to recognize a few words while there and not feel totally lost at all times, I'd be happy with that). But still, thought I'd share my learning log here.

So far I can recognise most Hiragana and read sentences albeit slowly. My apartment is littered with notes in kana, which I read out loud when I see them to associate words with rooms and objects/furniture. Katakana is getting there, but I've spent less time on it (my initial Hiragana practice involved writing each character out 10x before moving on to spaced repetition and using Duolingo's Practice Kana to quiz myself).

What happened to Low Origin?

I've been watching Low Origin since I was basically a kid, in person at events way back when Rockingham was open, and online.

I know Tye Jeffries has taken over their socials and bought one of the cars, they announced as much on Instagram.

But does this mean LO as we knew it in the UK is dead? As a drift team not a merch brand I mean. All I see on their story now is content out here in Aus / selling merch. Is it a team anymore if it's just one guy using the brand name? Not throwing any sort of shade, just confused - maybe I missed something.

My second drift day (first dry event). Stock IS250 manual w/ LSD

Dry was a big step up from the wet day. The point where it clicked was when the organisers forced me to lead, and worrying about holding the car behind up made me actually fire it in aggressively for the first time. At that point I realised how much more you have to commit in the dry!

Stock suspension?

Lots of talk about drifting on stock angle as a beginner, but how long would you leave stock suspension on a budget grass roots seat time car?

I have a manual IS250 and it has crazy body roll, if you load the suspension up too much it launches you back the other way into a spin when you try to transition and throws you out of the seat (if I hadn't hit my head on the A pillar 20x at my first event, I'd have gone out the window).

Watching other people's in-car Vs mine at the same track theirs is a lot more stable, they float from lock to lock whereas I'm getting yeeted, and I have to tiptoe around it.

Just wondering if I'm supposed to try to learn to drive around it for eg my first year, or if I should throw some coilovers on it after a few events.

Also would like to know if there's anything that *should* be done to the alignment at this stage or if I might as well keep driving it as it came. The car has almost zero self steering / self centering right now, doesn't feel great as I have to manually steer if a lot more than I'm used to on the sim.

Finally bought a drift car and did my first event after 10 years watching

Wanted to share this, I've been watching drifting online + in person since about 2014 and the stars never aligned to where I could buy my own drift car and do it for real. Just moved country and picked up a stock IS250 6spd manual with GT86 torsen diff and did my first wet skid pan event. With many more to come!

Performance issues finally solved

I've been wondering why my DaVinci Resolve Studio has always ran terribly with a Ryzen 5 7600X, 32GB RAM and RX7600 GPU. I'm talking 5s wait after pressing the play button for 60mbps h.264 playback, and 2 mins for the preview to update after touching a slider in the colour tab. Playing back colour graded footage was impossible, I would get max 10fps, and had to render in place every Fusion composition.

Upgraded to an RX9070XT and it was 2x faster, but still wouldn't play back edited footage in real time. Bare in mind I've been editing in this state for 4 years at this point...

Reinstalled graphics drivers for the new card, did a full install this time (I used to uncheck the Adrenaline GUI since I never used it). Adrenaline pops up after a reboot saying my system is in CSM mode, and newer GPUs don't support it. Weird, I upgraded from MBR to GPT and disabled CSM years ago, or so I thought.

Turns out my BIOS had reset at some point, reenabling CSM and, importantly: disabling Resize BAR and above 4G decoding. I had no idea. Basically my CPU could only access 256mb chunks of VRAM / GPU memory at a time due to Resize BAR being off, and couldn't map more than 4gb of memory to PCIe devices, resulting in awful performance in Resolve.

The performance difference is insane, today I can playback a Fusion composition at 4k, full playback resolution, with no render cache, in realtime. Yesterday it played at <5fps on half resolution. I'm saved.

Will 9070XT stay at an all time low price?

9070XT are currently $890 in a bunch of stores. The price history on PC Part Picker shows they've been at that price since March, so I'm assuming they dropped before EOFY sales not as a direct result?

I'm wondering if the prices are likely to stay this low, so I can afford to wait a couple months, or if I would be better off buying this month just in case waiting costs me $200.

Do the CSL DD / GT DD shaft disconnection issues still happen?

A couple years ago when I ordered my GT DD Pro this was super common. I upgraded to an eBay clamp which fixed the issue. Did Fanatec ever release a revised version, or are they still shipping units with this known issue in 2026?

Upon creating an account with my email, I have someone else's parcel showing up with their full name and address. We have no details in common, they live in QLD, and it looks like I can even redirect their parcel via my app.

Contacted support, asked to be put through to a human and... they cancelled the chat 8 mins into waiting for a support rep 🫪
