Had to see it in person!

I I recently visited my local boutique to check out the new gold-on-gold Moonwatch, and it was absolutely stunning!

Although I personally love the motif on the subdials with Moonshine Gold, I find myself slightly more drawn to the version with green subdials, with the green color appearing less matte compared to the gold-on-gold version.

Curious if others have seen it & what y‘all think!

Tell me how f***ed I am

Hi everyone!

Recently went swimming and as I rinsed off before going in the pool I noticed the helium escape valve on my Seamaster Chrono was loose, so I tightened it of course but now it got me thinking:

How long had it been open? Did me showering off get water in the watch? I haven’t ever gone swimming with the watch before today but now I‘m paranoid water may have gotten in, even though it’s not visible in the dial or caseback.

Any recommendations? I’ll go to Omega on Monday, but curious to see how cooked I might be. TIA!

No idea what my taste in watches is

If Nico sees this: what’s up mate congrats on the teeth

A seemingly random collection, but every watch has a story. I'm glad to still have the Fossil chronograph my dad bought me when I was 7, along with the Citizen and Tag diver he gave me before he died.

I found my taste in Omega and MoonSwatches, love em or hate em. The Monaco and QlockTwo are probably the most unique!

Always looking for the next new watch! Any thoughts?

What percentage of your collection is comprised of MoonSwatches?

So far I’m only at 19%… curious to see where everyone‘s at!

[SOTC] I don’t even know how to describe my taste in watches

Hi everyone!

Not the most focused collection, but every piece has a story. I’m especially glad to still have the Fossil chronograph my dad bought me when I was 7, along with the Citizen and Tag diver he gave me before he passed.

Over time I discovered Omega and promptly fell down the MoonSwatch rabbit hole (I know they’re divisive, but I enjoy them). The Monaco and Biegert & Funk German time watches are probably the outliers, but that’s part of what makes the collection fun for me!

Always looking for the next addition! Any thoughts?

Help Exposing a Doorbell Entity to Apple Home

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a solution to be able to expose a doorbell entity to HomeKit for the sole purpose of having my HomePods play the native doorbell chime when my doorbell rings (currently rigged into HA via a
contact sensor.... Ideally with the sensor, open = doorbell
ring).

I'm aware I could use automations & whatnot to accomplish something similar, but those will have delays and interrupt the HomePods if they're already playing music.

I was able to set up and expose a camera using Generic Camera to Homekit, which I understand Homekit requires in order to treat the accessory as a doorbell, but have been unable to sort out the rest.

I'd be thankful for anyone who might have some tips because with my research thus far I haven't had much luck.
Thank you!

IKEA Myggbett shitshow

Hi everyone!

I recently purchased IKEA‘s Myggbett door & window sensors as I was curious to test them out…. Priced at $7.99 for a Matter over Thread sensor (and based on multiple YouTube reviews), my expectations were low.

I purchased seven sensors for use in my smart home for trivial things… putting them on cabinet doors, etc., so I’m not relying on them by any means.

Out of the seven I was initially able to pair with HomeKit and Home Assistant via Matter, only five of them remain connected a bit over a week later with two of them offline and seemingly unable to be re added.

I have multiple Thread border routers (three HomePod minis and a compatible Apple TV) and use a UniFi UDR 5G Max for my network but still can’t seem to be able to do anything to get them to re add, continually getting a „pairing failed“ error. My other Matter over Thread accessories (multiple Eve Door & Windows & an Aqara U200) have been rock solid reliable in my configuration.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks?

For the price I’d love to keep using them but if they continue to be this unreliable I’ll just get some Zigbee sensors during Prime Day. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I was not aware that they perform best with IKEA‘s lower voltage LADDA rechargeable batteries, I will definitely give them a try! I didn’t mention it in the original post, but this still doesn’t explain why I can’t add their smart plug… I get the same result with that one.

Looking to detect when your faucet is on?

I struggled for a long time finding something that worked, but I think I finally have! It’s not elegant, but it works.

I noticed that the water lines to my kitchen faucet move a bit when turned on or off, so I used an Aqara vibration sensor, some Scotch tape, and Home Assistant to expose it to HomeKit as a faucet 🥳

Absolutely in love!

I haven’t had it longer than 48 hours and it already has received more compliments than my Silver Snoopy does 😅

Can you guess which Hilton property I’m having a beer at?

Something tells me it’ll go quick!

Edit: it is not in North America

r/MoonSwatches is under new management!

Hi everyone!

As many of you have noticed over the past few months, this subreddit has been plagued with its fair share of spam and a lack of competent moderation.

That will be changing very soon!

Some suggestions have already been discussed in u/pile-of-bricks previous post, so please feel free to provide feedback there via comments and upvotes as we begin to provide this subreddit with the attention it deserves.
