I originally posted this on Royal Road. It's a fun, light-hearted progression fantasy with a snarky talking weapon and a cocky kid who's in way over his head.

Instead of a legendary sword, he ends up with a loud-mouthed ancient staff that never shuts up—and is almost always right. The same staff that once toppled kings and outlived empires is now being used to scratch his back. It’s not amused.

Throw in clan wars, old grudges, and a Demon Lord on the horizon, and you’ve got one overconfident kid with a stick stumbling into problems bigger than he realizes.

If you've ever read a chosen one story and thought this kid is way too confident for someone who hasn't earned it yet, this one's different. 

Clan wars, blood feuds, a Demon Lord nobody's ready for, and somewhere underneath all of it, a coming of age story that earns every hit it lands.

It's funny until it isn't.

In my short lifetime, I have seen a number of movies. And I'm not too picky either. Opposite of it actually. I welcome them all. From serious, to drama, to action, and whatever suits my fancy. But there's always one that is dear to my heart. Surprisingly, it's not one from Hollywood.

This has got to be one of my favorites.
