The Age of Sigmar, a decade of war

Now I am the first to admit that I was not very happy about the then death of the old world. My dwarves had stood proudly on the table top, facing down all manners of enemies. So, when gw dropped the axe, I was pretty heartbroken.

Also, I had been playing 40k for years, so to see another game that leaned more toward it, was discouraging. I liked how fantasy worked. I enjoyed those big blocks of troops slogging it out by some forsaken tower in the middle of the board. I didn't want fantasy in space is what im getting at. Its what kept me away for the beginning of AOS.

But, after a year I decided to give the game a try. My first thoughts were, of course, a little harsh of what I thought was an over simplified game. Though, as I kept going, I found myself falling in love with my little Sig Marines.

As time and editions went on, I constantly found it hard to deny that AOS might be gw's better game. Smoother, easier to learn and better minis, the game rapidly took to the forefront of my wargaming agenda.

Now, as I look back on this last decade, fighting across the mortal realms, defending and invading, playing campaigns and tournaments. I find it hard to want to break out my spacemarines. To want to slog through the absolute mess 40k has become.

In closing this is me, 30 years fighting across the empire, imperium, and the mortal realms, admitting that AOS is, in my opinion, there better game. Now I play 40k, but only combat patrol or crusade (which is currently now unsupported in 11th), i play Horus Heresy, i even still play Battlefleet Gothic from time to time. But given a choice, I still would rather just play AOS.
