Crafting for mecha games, started with tank. SO TEENY

Hi! I'm a crocheter/crafter. I try to embody poorhammer in my soul. Cardboard terrain, little wooden peg soldiers, crochet tanks. Here is the teeniest vehicle I've ever crocheted.

I used to use xps foam but I ran out and so instead I'm working with plastic canvas inside the fabric and reinforced with stuffing.

In comparison here's some of my other crochet tanks.

I'll post pictures of my first mech in this same scale soon. I'm debating on doing a dreadnought or one of the admech bots maybe?

Feedback is always welcome!

After action: the guard fell and the dragon was slain (crafted pieces)

Hi everyone. I had my mini mayhem yesterday in which the guard commanders were mia (no players showed) and so chaos overran Eratus IV.

One player showed for the afternoon game in which a paladin, mage, monk and a barbarian, rogue, ranger entourage of "actors" were filming the season finale of the hit fictional 90s fantasy TV show The Path of Orion. They had to find the amulet of orion guarded by ko bolds, cross a flooded river (of which it was my first full painted terrain piece and I'm rather proud of it), and then the final battle with Kalvaxis (I panicked and I think that's from fantasy high dimension 20) the dread dragon lord (played by a statue my aunt made me). The god obsessed paladin and the barbarian were dropped by the dragon and it wasn't until all of the minis were around each other that they passed the task roll to activate the amulet for the third and final time needed to vanish Kalvaxis.

System used was Wiley games fistful of lead based trio of fantasy books for the fantasy one and galactic heroes with grim dark codex for the failed guard defense. Quite a fun and lean system. Everything was hand crafted or painted by me except the dragon. And you can see some crochet work as well.

Can I use mobile frame zero for narrative play as a gm, and can I use crocheted frames?

Hello everyone! I'm a crocheter/crafter and forever gm. I'm looking for a system that can accommodate larger crafted models but also that i can run for a few players as a narrative experience for 1-4+ players.

I love that anything lego can be used, and if I was into collecting lego it'd be great, but I use crochet mostly, and I love crafting game pieces. Any suggestions on how I might accomodate these requiremtns with mobile frame zero?

Thanks in advance!

Crafter and forever DM looking for mech based rpg systems (or similar vibe) that I can craft for and run

Hi! As the itle says, I'm a forever gm fiber arts/foam clay crafter and I'm craving mechs to run and craft, or other vehicles/fun things that aren't just humanoid minis.

I'm already looking into lancer, I have and am debating trying salvage union. I have mecha hack but it seems too light for what I'm looking for.

Mostly I'm looking for....Something not insanely crunchy like battletech war game or such, but not so light that there's no tactics to be had on a tactical map or tabletop.

I also need something lite enough for either one shots or be able to craft and run every week or every other week. So somewhere between heavy crunch and narrative but tactical combat would be great.

I'd love to do mechs either in crochet or clay, but I'm more familiar with crochet. unfortunately crochet mechs are going to start at 50 mm wide bases, though could allow for easier hardpoint usage using neodynium magnets sewn in or on. I'm not sure how easy it would be for air dry foam clay mechs.

Any system suggestions would be loved. I have a few games like mobile suit alpha I think and gun frame and those are fine but they're more skirmish wargames than they are games I can GM. I find I don't like competitive games but instead love telling high energy and epic stories. I'm a forever GM for a reason.

Any suggestions for vehicle/mech/tactical games in those realms would be great!Thank you in advance!

My current collection of Warhammer themed minis, scifi or generic terrain, and of course, TANK TANK TANKS!

I'm getting ready to run 2 fistful of lead based skirmish games this weekend as a gm'd narrative skirmish experience. One is using the grimdark codex for galactic heroes 2e which is a wh40k conversion for the game. The other is fantasy themed version using their trio of books. They'll be facing chaos as guardsmen for the first game and an adventuring party vs kobolds and a dragon for the second one. Here's the collection so far. Thoughts? Apologies for the clutter

My first nid made of air dry foam clay, wire, foil, and acrylic paint markers

Hi! I'm a crocheter/crafter making game pieces and exploring the poorhammer spirit of cheap and homemade. You can check my previous posts for my coffee can deff dread, my crochet pieces like my tanks, and my painted peg soldiers. This is the first piece I made with the above materials. It was quite fun! He's a bit out of scale but so is everything I do that isn't a 30mm tall peg soldier.

First squad and change hand crafted for miniature gaming!

Hi! I'm a crocheter and crafty person. I've been working on finding game systems to run GM'd battles in for a few months and I've made crocheted pieces and tanks and terrain but someone mentioned doing painting of little wooden pegs. And here's my first infantry squad and the second in progress (and a bonus cadian). 20 dollars for the 60 count paint markers, 20 for the 100 count peg people. They're my infantry beans for 5 parsecs from home so far. Regular human infantry. Check my posts for the tanks! And stay tuned for more!

Choosing/determining scale/size for crafted pieces, 5pfh: tactics

Hello, I'm a crocheter/ crafter and I have been hankering to do some gming in a tactical game with mixed arms combat. I already had 5pfh and got tactics today. Now, I want to do games and keep it to at most a 4x4ft space, but I want to use my own custom pieces. I know a lot of minis are 15mm to 28mm. My custom pieces generally are based on 50mm and up bases. Pictures attached. I got some advice to use wooden peg minis and mod them into what I need, and use my crochet skills to make vehicles and such. I also craft my own terrain. I'm looking for estimated/average dimensions of the various vehicles in tactics. These are my two tanks so far, though I'd be remaking them to be more scifi than ww2.

I know it's technically minis agnostic but I'd still like to have at least a consistent idea of size to work around. Also how big are the horde, the bug hunt bugs, the swarm, the hulking humans, etc.?

Any help would be appreciated!

Crocheted told to post their crafted deff dredd and crochet minis!

I posted in wargaming and skirmish sub reddits asking for suggestions of games and using these pics as examples of my work, and was told about this amazing place and told my deff dredd belonged here. I'm not allowed another hobby and especially not miniatures as they're too expensive and require too much space I don't have. So I found systems that don't really care about your minis like galactic heroes 2e, gaslands, etc. I modded the rules slightly to work with my scale. I ran a narrative galactic heroes with the grimdark supplement at my local game cafe. It was guard vs orks. I fielded this behemoth of a deff dredd and it was a hell of a lot of fun! And now I'm making tanks! There's a few guardsmen, a few little ultramarines, a death guard and such. I also crafted all of the terrain and even made my own stat cards for the units with canva (not pictured). The yarn is cheap, about 3-5 dollars a skein which is about 350 ish yards, plastic canvas which is relatively cheap, stuffing, buttons, and of course time and patience.

Hopefully these are appropriate for this sub and can be appreciated here! More examples of my work in my other posts!

Crocheter looking for vehicle based wargames/skirmishes to make pieces for

Hello!

I'm back and looking for suggestions. I've done little star wars and wh40k minis (on 50mm bases) for galactic heroes 2e by Wiley games (with the grim dark expansion for wh40k). Well recently I've gotten really into making tanks and vehicles and mechs. I'm looking for games that focus around those aspects, and maybe some infantry I guess if I have to, though the scales might be different or off. As the title says, I'm not one to buy plastic models and paint them, instead I crochet my own minis and craft terrain out of stuff like cardboard, foam, felt, and plastic pieces! Any suggestions for rules? I know about tonks, tanks for the apocalypse, the wiley systems. I'm curious about 5pfh: tactics, and I'm really craving something with a low model count, miniature agnostic, not a ton of book keeping and something I can play co-op, head to head, or as a GM for other players, as I tend to play by hosting events at my local gaming space. I can try to make mechs again, just kind of lost interest since I couldn't decide between western mechs and eastern mecha (that's how I've been taught to describe them at least. The difference between battletech/mech warrior and gundam.) I'm not too picky for genre as long as I can do mechanized stuff, though I prefer sci-fi or weird things over just straight up ww2 or such.

All suggestions are loved!

Attached are a few pics of my tanks, and you can check my posts for the gaslands cars and minis I did for the star wars and wh40k games I ran.

Green tank is 13 cm long from front to back of treads, 11 cm side to side, 14 cm from top to bottom, including the rurret, and 20 cm from tip of barrel to back of turret. the blue tank is 10 cm front to back, 8 cm wide, 8 cm tall, 12.5 mm for turret full length. I'm trying to reduce the sizes a bit.

Chibimon and pokeloaves I've designed and crocheted.

As the title says, these are just a few of the designs I've made. Berries, pokemon, even pokeballs. AND YES THEY OPEN AND HOLD POKEMON! Sorry if some photos are of potato quality. More when I can get pics! I've done quite a few so far. Too many to post them all here! I hope you enjoy!

[Galactic heroes] imperial guardsmen hold the line against the green tide!

Hey all! I recently ran another skirmish event using my all handcrafted terrain and pieces. Last time was star wars and this time was a Warhammer themed galactic heroes! I made everything here including the unit cards with all of the stats and such!

Turn one the orks came rushing in from the north towards the manufactorum complex the guard were defending. First were a bunch of grots and a few shootah Boyz. All badmoon ladz!

The guard held out mostly though the guard's commissar was stabbed in the face by a grot. My orks pulled in a weird boy and got close in but we're repelled by heavy sniper fire and grenades and lucky rolls.

Round two the deff dread took the field! It stomped its way up and with multiple linked big shootahs showered the puny guard with 40 shots in a single turn! 3 hit. Very orky!

The guard commander very quickly found out their puny flashlights had no hope against the orky dreadnought. The veteran overcharged the hotshot las and it overloaded and blew up taking out a guardsmen, the veteran, and even the trench they were standing in!

End of turn 2 looked very bad for the guard but then...the comms officer voxxed that they were being reinforced by a sentinel, a psyker, an ogryn, two guardsmen with a las cannon heavy weapon set up and their commander.

Before the orks could respond and reinforce the guard launched a full scale counter attack and took out the deff dread, blowing it up and taking out half the board and several guardsmen!

In the end the guard held long enough for reinforcements and took the day!

I ran it as chaoticly as possible and as orky as I could. I gave all the orks and grots high shots but low chances to hit so while I was rolling 5-10+ shots using d10s I was only hitting on 9+, but I still krumped a few humies!

Honestly I've been loving this whole thing of making my own pieces and modifying rules to run for players against my lads or the empire or what have you!

I'm thinking of doing a small multi shot campaign in June!

As the title says. I got my first taste of how fun this hobby type can be especially when mixed with my crochet hobby. And I want more. Fistful of games is fun but I'm looking for more. I have 5 parsecs and 5 leagues, but I'm not sure they're fully what I want. 5 parsecs tactics and planet fall look fun and I've heard good things about frost and star grave (but yikes there's so many books and they're so expensive!)

I do need games that are more lenient in scale as my base humanoids are on 50mm bases. Any suggestions? I need to be able to treat it more as an RPG and GM it as that's what my gaming space prefers and to be honest, as a forever GM I can't escape it.

Any suggestions?

As the title says I ran my first skirmish RPG on Sunday may 3rd for my local game space's May the Fourth weekend and it was a blast. I took Galactic Heroes 2e from Wiley games and crafted all my pieces and terrain and heavily modified the game system and gmed it essentially.

The game was star wars themed and had the two players controlling the rebels and the imperials controlled by myself.

Scene one was "the defense" the small squad of 6 rebel troopers had to hold a landing zone and data center long enough for the millennium falcon to land and reinforce their garrison with more troops and the heroes. They did really well, with their sniper taking out several guys and their heavy gunner going toe to toe with the heavy gunner storm trooper. They used a light side point to keep their scout from dying in a mortar strike and lasted long enough for the falcon to do a low fly by and blast my troopers away.

They chose to bring Luke and Leia and their heavy gunner, sniper, and their jetpack troopers I called skyriders for scene two, the siege, where they had to take a power station. They infiltrated the skyriders in deep and dropped the melee specialist one into the imperial frontline and took several guys out. The sniper blew away a couple of my guys and with efficient grenade usage they took the power station with relative ease.

In scene three they took chewie, han, Leia and Luke and I learned to fear the monstrous combo I created accidentally. Leia had the battle command trait which let her give someone else an action. She would activate Luke and he would fastball special the wookie into groups of enemies and absolutely annihilate them. Luke rushed in and took out the first couple of troopers and was cocky until Vader took the field (preceded by the imperial march of course) and absolutely bodied Luke. Luke retreated and they fastball specialed Vader. He fell back and they fought through a few rooms and finally they got to the communications relay and after using the fastball special on r2 to dome boba Fett and kill him and chewie throwing Vader into a wall, r2 uploaded the virus to infect the entire navy and cripple them at least long enough for a concerted counterattack.

All in all it was a blast and I'm doing a 40k version on May 15th! It was stressful getting it all done in 2-3 weeks and as you can see Leia and chewy didn't get finished and boba Fett was played by a space marine.

I'm looking for more systems to gm this way! I have 5 leagues from the borderlands and 5 parsecs from home, a bunch of forbidden psalms/morkborg stuff but I'm also looking at 5 parsecs planet fall and tactics. Any feedback on those or suggestions?

I've heavily modified a scifi skirmish war game called Galactic Heroes 2e to run more like an RPG. And it will be played with things I've hand crafted and crocheted! Behold some of my pieces! I still have so many rebels and villains/heroes to make. I also made custom unit cards in a 90's CCG style. I'd love to hear what you all think. I've been giving into the star wars Tism for a bit!

u/kyhypnopupil — 4 months ago

I've been posting intermittently here when I have more pieces done for my skirmish game piece collections. I'm getting ready to run a star wars RPG skirmish using a heavy modified galactic heroes 2e by Wiley games. I am crocheting all the pieces and making stuff out of cardboard, felt, and other things I've got around the house. Attached are pictures of the board as of Saturday and the unit character cards that I designed in canvas to give the players backstory on the back and stats and equipment on the front. I'm super chuffed with the cards and the terrain set up.

I'm running an RPG skirmish star wars session for 4 hours on Sunday running the players through it kinda like DND as the dm. It's shaping up to be fun. I'm part of my local game space's may the 4th weekend celebrations.

I still have many units and terrain to finish but I've been having a blast.

I'm modifying galactic heroes to be more RPG friendly, changing and adding weapons and properties, and giving special abilities to heroes and villains and such. Due to being basically 50mm scale I'm changing move and weapon ranges and I'm really hoping it goes well!

I'm happy to answer questions and welcome feedback and ideas!
