I've been a .net developer for about 20 years. I've made few Android apps that I want to publish on the Apple app store. I don't have a Mac or an iPhone or iPad. I was considering buying a used iPhone. I am building the iOS app in azure devops What are other primarily Windows developers using to test iOS apps?
Physical apple devices?
Cloud emulators?
My daughter(8) did pre-team last year. She did pretty well and we were convinced by the coaches to move her up to Bronze team. They went from 2 practices a week for 2 hours each to 2 practices a week for 3 hours, both on weeknights. It seemed a bit excess for a bunch of 7-10 year olds. Then we started getting the cost of the mandatory competitions and uniform. So here is the breakdown.
Team Practice: $254x12
Competitions: $1308
Team bag: $44
Leotard: $278
Jacket: $55
Pants: $47
Total: $4502/year
Between costs like this and $700/month car payments, I can see why well-to-do Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. To me, this is insane for an 8 year old. We've already committed to this year, but we won't be continuing. This year, we have 1 competition that's 4 hours away, 1 that's 3 hours away, and 2 that are about 2 hours away. We live in a major metropolitan area, second largest city in the state. If we keep going, eventually, they will have competitions on Friday's in other states requiring her to miss school. How are we ok with this? What are we doing!?

First time at VIR and an IMSA event. Also my first time shooting race cars. I'm still working through 100s of raw photos. Here are some of my better shots.
The space is 39 1/2" wide. There's about 9 1/2" between the air vent and the wall. It's a 9' ceiling. The screen is a digital calendar and can stand in a flat surface. The thermostat will not be moved unless you can give me a good reason to go through the trouble.
Edit. Just for clarification, the shelves would be on the wall with the thermostat not on the wall with the vent. They would only be 9" deep so they don't interfere with the vent.
I've done some plumbing work in my house with the help of a friend who has the PEX crimp tool. As someone who works in the tech industry, I can't help but notice when new tools and techniques get created, packaged, and sold as the next great invention. On the suface, it seems silly to me that to do plumbing, you need a $70+ tool to make connections when we used to just need a $5 can of glue that would last the average DIYer their entire life.
As a plumber who works with PEX and has worked with PVC, is PEX superior or did it have really really good marketing?
Edit; Lot of great comments. Thanks! I might be using PVC as an inaccurate description of the plastic pipe that came before pex. I'm not real sure. My annoyance with PEX comes every time I want to replace an outside spigot or add a water line for an appliance. I have to borrow the tool from my friend or have him come over and do it for me or buy the tool. Whereas, in the past, I could just chop the line, add a T, and run the new line to whatever I wanted. I do realize that PEX is far easier and cheaper than copper. Guys who do or have done copper have my utmost respect. You all do, really.
I have a bunch of reusable spools from Sunlu. I would like to buy refills instead of more spools. The problem is, I can always find filament with spools $3-5 cheaper than the refills.
For me, it was deluxe in middle school in the mid 90s.
I wanted to let you all know that we dropped the price of GT Pro Tune to $14.99 for the Advanced version and $7.99 for the lite version. We've also removed the time limit for the trial version and added a few extra cars so you can better evaluate the app before buying. We've also added some nice quality of life features since launch. You can now upload screenshots from the game to read the values needed to tune your car. This makes it much quicker to setup a new car.
I setup a sql database hoping to use the free tier to test my app. As you can see, I set it up somewhere around July 4. I pretty much did nothing with it other than seed the database. My app isn't running yet and nothing is connecting to it. I did leave SSMS connected. Is this why burned through my free compute time?
I've been a gamer since I played number munchers in 2nd grade. Growing up, I dreamed of competing in video games like Jimmy in The Wizard. I bought a PS2 just to play Gran Turismo 3. I've played every one since casually. I even worked on a tuning app for GT7. I had low expectations going into the movie. I was pleasantly surprised with it.

Edit2: I'm an idiot. I had to cancel my subscription and recreate my account this past December because I broke my phone and didn't have the backup code. I never resubscribed to the premium version.
I've been changing my own oil since I could drive 25+ years ago. My last oil change cost $40 and about 20 minutes of my time. I'm older now, obviously, and saving $10 a few times a year isn't as critical as it was when I was younger. Despite the horror stories of some quick change stations making mistakes, does it really save that much money to change your own oil these days?
Self-service:
5 qt synthetic oil
oil filter

disposal of oil (usually just drop it of at a parts store when I get a chance)

Full-service:
~15 minutes + time to drive there (might not be a factor for most people who live or work close to a service station)

To be clear, I have no intention of not continuing to change my own oil. I enjoy the satisfaction of doing it myself. I generally refuse to pay someone else to do a job that I can do myself.
