couple items from my collection

when michael passed, my grandma bought just about every magazine she could find. i’m sure there were more collectibles, maybe t-shirts and posters. but i remember being six years old, sitting on the floor, going through every page. it was everywhere and my little brain just could not fathom it.

unfortunately, we had to throw away most of her magazines as they were left in storage and got ruined. i’m slowly trying to build back a collection, especially now that my grandma has dementia. we share a deep love and appreciation for michael. it’s bittersweet to see her remember the words to his songs and talk about the jackson 5.

so far i have an original pressing of thriller and a magazine from july 2009. i’m looking into official tour merch from dangerous and i would love to get the ultimate collection box set. my humble little mj museum lol i can’t wait to share more as it grows

planning a trip on my own- help!

hi! i’m sure this has been asked before but i’ll still give it a shot lol my friend and i are going to nyc for three days next month. we’re seeing harry styles the day we arrive (wed.) thurs is free all day and then we see him again fri night and leave sat morning.

i’m still looking into hotels and airbnbs bc there’s so many options to weigh and factors that go into it. i was wondering if you all could help make my life a little easier in the meantime. since its just two of us, what transportation makes the most sense in the city? walking, taxi, uber, subway?

i’m making an itinerary but we’re not too picky! we have a to-do list but i’d like some non-touristy places as well. the general vibe is honestly just chick flick, modern carrie bradshaw, pastel maximalism if that helps. thank you in advance <3

places we wanna visit!
anita’s gelato
new york or nowhere
lego store
mure + grand
something soft photobooth
a shop of things
museum of ice cream
glossier
murray’s bagels

new picture of jaafar as mj <3

posted on bill corso’s ig! if you zoom in, you can see the notes that were taken from previous makeup tests. so much time and dedication went into this.

jaafar was otherworldly in his performance but i’d like to also acknowledge the makeup and costume departments. they truly helped enhance jaafar’s performance as well as capturing michael’s essence. i expect riots in the streets if they don’t get an oscar nom lol not that we need it though!

birthday girls trip

hi! i have no doubt this one has been posted time and time again but alas lol i’m turning 24 in march and wanna spend an extended weekend trip w friends there (debating between this and r/charlotte)

my best friend’s sister lives there and is very involved in the music scene. she can get us into clubs and shows but i’d also like some other activities and shows. i’m not too picky! the vibe for the trip is very pink, messy, gold and pearls and boas, 00s chick flick if that helps at all lol thank you in advanced!

mj related things in nyc?

i hope this is allowed :)

i’m going next month for a few days w my best friend. we’ve both been on an insane michael kick since the movie. i’ve always loved michael but it’s definitely a different appreciation now that i’m older.

i know there’s a couple murals but i can’t seem to find anything else. do you all know of any activities, sight seeings or souvenirs related to michael in nyc? thanks!

michael’s kids?

i just saw this on ig. i know peyton riley mcconville was added on imbd a couple years ago before there were any trailers or official updates. her brother reid was rumored to play prince. seems that she posted an update about her casting on her story. i literally have no idea about any of this lol but i’m interested to see if/what they add with the jackson kids.

edit - phrasing

just watched for the 100th time

i saw michael in theaters for three days straight when it came out. went on vacation, came back and saw it two more times. bought it on prime video and watched it almost every night for a week and now i watch a few different scenes here and there.

this time, i watched only the performance scenes. and i don’t mean oh i’m looking at the screen and i hear the music. i mean like truly observing and taking it all in. watching every step jaafar took and how he somehow, by nature or insane amounts of practice or spirituality, captures every micro-michaelism. i hear the music and i see the dancing and i feel transported to a time i never lived in. i’m just still so in awe because i know i’m not looking at michael but it feels like i am. i know it’s jaafar and i know he’s acting but how??? how is that not michael???

i’m a very spiritual and religious person (much like michael) and i think this movie is truly just otherworldly. idk what is is but i just cannot get enough of michael and his character, his beliefs and principles, all of his knowledge and creativity. it feels like 2009 all over again where we’re celebrating michael for who he was. where everywhere you look, someone’s singing or wearing something michael inspired. my 7 year old cousin sings billie jean and moonwalks around the house all day. a child born 10 years after michael passed.

all this to say, this feels like so much more than a movie. jaafar said he wanted to wipe his uncle’s slate clean and tell the real story and that’s exactly what he did. he has made everyone so incredibly proud and i hope he knows that. through all the lies, tabloids, abuse, michael remains number one. even now with trashy “documentaries” and people willing to lie for a quick buck. he remains the King.

the order that made me quit lol

i hope this doesn’t count as a complaint post 😭

i found this in my camera roll from may lol i quit literally the next day. it was teacher appreciation week and someone ordered 41 assorted baker’s dozens for 7 different schools with a 6am pickup. she talked over me the entire phone call and said she wouldn’t pay unless we could do the tuesday bagel deal. i came in the night before to prep everything. our industrial slicer was broken and the bagels were too hot for the small slicer so my AGM and i hand cut all 533 bagels with serrated knives. i accidentally packed them by dozens and realized it with only like 10 boxes left.

i tried my hardest to keep everything in a good assortment but it was like 10 at this point and i just wanted to finish. i fixed the count, sorted and labeled everything by school and had all the cream cheese ready in the fridge. i was there from about 8 to 11. my GM wanted me back at 6am and i had told him the entire shift before that if i came in that night, i wasn’t coming in early. i had done everything except hand out the orders and take payment.

i came in at 8 like i was scheduled and got bitched at immediately about how everyone was behind and the cafe wasn’t ready because i was "late." by lunch i was still getting told i was lazy, never did anything, and didn't respect management. (i was our catering lead without the raise which is another story, the only person to get employee of the month twice within the year we’d been open and had already been thinking about quitting. when my GM asked where i wanted to work for lunch, i said it didn't matter because i was leaving. he brushed it off and said i’d never quit. i walked out five minutes later and never went back.

is there a name for this?

screenshots from a few of my pinterest boards. i doubt there’s a real name for this but how would you describe it? keywords i’ve been using are charlotte york, soft maximalism, chick flick. it’s just kinda hard for me to describe bc it has quite a few different elements and eras. thank you! :)

more fan casts for pt two!

so much happened in michael’s during and after bad so i was trying to pick the most important people or scenes that fans would want to see.

kenny ortega - i had the most trouble with this one. alfred molina is only a few years younger than kenny but i think the phenomenal makeup and fx team could make it work. molina’s voice reminds me of kenny’s too. they’re also both of spanish descent!

elizabeth taylor - sherilyn fenn played her in a 1995 made for tv movie. it’s incredibly hard to find an actress that not only looks like her but has her essence. hoping her estate will allow it :(

iman and naomi campbell - these are a little left field but for a good reason!!! i think it’d be a cute homage to have modern supermodels play the ones from the 90s. i cannot imagine a pt two with no remember the time. in the closet has gotten a second life from social media so i wonder if they’ll show it.

chris tucker - nick darnell is an actor and comedian who plays the grinch at universal. he hasn’t been in a lot of movies but he does a killer chris tucker impression and has a lot of the same energy and humor. would also make a great big break for him.

eddie murphy - again, this is bc i’m dying to see remember the time lol tyler james williams and eddie are very close and i think TJW could pull off a modern look at the short film.

my fancast for part two!

lisa marie and debbie rowe - liz is known for her no-bs, outspoken, stubborn characters. LM described herself as a rebel who did things she knew her mother didn’t like. she wasn’t afraid to say what was on her mind which michael said he liked. with riley keough taking control of LM’s estate from priscilla in 2023, i wonder how likely it will be.

debbie and michael weren’t as public. i think sarah could really pull off debbie’s more quiet and private demeanor as well as showing how she was behind the scenes. debbie was incredibly devoted and loyal to michael. sarah did an amazing job as carolyn bessette kennedy and i’d love go see more of her.

thomas mesereau - mike myers had a cameo in part one as walter yetnikoff, it would be cool to see him again as thomas mesereau who was michael’s lawyer in 2005. he’s incredibly goofy so it’d be cool to see him in a more serious cameo!

tatiana thumbtzen - i’m not too sure how likely it is to see her but maybe she could have a cameo like ola ray. sarah jeffrey reminds me of her and i feel like i saw somewhere that they wanted to film twymmf?

janet jackson - in the event that she chooses to be in part two, i’d love to see stevanna play her. she’s randy’s daughter and jaafar’s cousin. i know people were really rooting for halle bailey and i love her but stevanna is another option as well!

imbd cast list

a few interesting names that stuck out to me. these are either things that were filmed in pt one and didn’t make it (reshoots, runtime cuts, saved for pt two, uncredited, etc.) or things that could be happening soon!!! interested to see who else we might get and what will actually make the final cut!

andy warhol - artist and studio 54 regular. painted michael for time magazine in 1984.

siedah garrett - duet on i just can't stop loving you, co-wrote and sang backing vocals on man in the mirror, and toured with michael during dangerous.

jennifer batten - briefly seen in bad, but we'll probably see more of her. michael's lead guitarist from 1987-1997 and for the super bowl halftime show.

rory kaplan - victory tour keyboardist/equipment manager and bad tour synthesizer player.

miko brando - marlon brando's son and one of michael's closest friends. first to reach him after the pepsi accident, later worked as his bodyguard and michael was his best man at his neverland wedding.

steve rubell - studio 54 co-founder. michael spoke fondly about him and the environment he created at studio 54, calling it a safe haven and escape.

neverland employee!!! - confirms neverland is intended to be shown or has already been filmed.

david bowie - defended michael and other black artists over mtv's lack of representation. his wife iman later appeared in remember the time.

john lennon - never met but michael bought the beatles catalog, covered come together and was close with yoko ono and sean lennon. wonder if we’ll see paul mccartney.

mick jagger - collaborated with the jacksons on state of shock which was originally supposed to be freddie mercury.

david williams - session guitarist who played on triumph, off the wall, thriller and bad. toured with the Jacksons during triumph.

johnnie cochran - represented michael in 1993 and later recommended thomas mesereau for the 2005 trial.

lapd officer - could relate to the 1993 investigation or the neverland raid. jaafar confirmed they filmed the raid scene. he said he was so emotional he had to stop after only a few takes.

brad buxer - keyboardist, composer, and musical director on michael's tours. (also brad from the iconic video clip.)

santa barbara sergeant - likely tied to the 2005 case and the neverland raid, when michael later spoke about police brutality.

dick clark - hosted the jackson 5 on american bandstand in 1970 and michael later performed dangerous for his 50th anniversary special.

gregg wright - victory tour guitarist who was later personally chosen by michael to play the beat it solo live.

liza minnelli - one of michael's closest friends. she was like a mother figure and constantly defended him. she got married at neverland in 2002 (yes that's when he side eyes and giggles lol)

him and his massive hands

we all know michael had big hands but this is insane. almost the same size as mickey’s gloves. unreal.

michael + bambi eyes

michael once said he wore sunglasses bc he believed eyes are the window to the soul, he didn’t want anyone to see what he was dealing with inside. every time we see his eyes, they are big and expressive. they’re always so soft even during his worst moments. i think that says a lot about his spirit and who he was <3
