Today, as usual, a guy paid for his stuff, grabbed it, and left his cart in front of me. This happens all the time. I finally spoke up and loudly said “hey don’t forget your cart.” He did grab it, but just parked by the counter instead of putting back.

Around eight years ago, a barber at the Navy base in Norfolk got caught scamming Sailors for tips. He was inside the smaller store and the only chair with his own register. I got my haircut twice a month for six months and card reader was “down.” He was just gone one day and I asked the new barber if it was fixed. The old guy realized we would tip more often if using cash, so he just lied about the machine not working. He finally got caught because too many people complained to the other cashiers about his reader never working.
