Is arriving at 12pm (ish) too late? Going to Universal Studios Hollywood on 9/15

For context. my husband, brother-in-law, and I are going to Universal Studios Hollywood on 9/15/26 or 9/16/26. We are planning on renting a car to do so, and would likely arrive there (from Anaheim) around 11am-12pm.

We mostly are just wanting to do Super Nintendo World... and anything else that is worth doing... but I know for sure that is on their list! Does this leave us enough time to explore?

Thanks!

Bacterial bloom with filter change

I’ve had my ACF since April (I adopted him in bad shape and he’s doing so well). I had a HOB filter but it was so loud and the water level had to be pretty high with it so my guy almost never hung out on the bottom of the tank.
I changed to a sponge filter for this reason about a month ago (I kept both running for 2 weeks and kept the old cartridge next to the sponge to colonize the new filter. Ever since I took the HOB filter out the water is so cloudy. The water parameters are good (testing with API kit). I do have extremely fine sand in there and some plants.

Is there a water clarifier that is safe for my ACF that you’d recommend or should I just take all the sand out and go from there?

I just want to make sure he’s okay. He’s acting normal but it looks not great aesthetically.

Medication questions (Wellbutrin/Pristiq)

I have been on bupropion (Wellbutrin) since March and it’s been working nicely. It was paired with Zoloft but the Zoloft was making me way too sleepy so ~8 weeks ago my psych switched me to Pristiq.

I really loved it but I just had my 2nd menstrual cycle on it and it was HELL to say the least. I won’t get into details but it was not normal and lasted only 2 days. I was also having (and am still having) intense night sweats and cold sweats during the day for about 3 weeks now and was regularly feeling like I was going to pass out the week of my period (not normal for me).

I talked to my psych and she said if I feel that it was the switch to pristiq, to discontinue use. So I did, I was on the lowest dose and I am remaining on the lowest dose of bupropion.

Now here’s my question. I am EXTREMELY anxious now that it’s been about 3 days off of pristiq. My eye will not stop twitching and I’m STILL sweating on and off and at night. I did like the way Pristiq was making me feel, but I just don’t know if any of the hormonal side effects are worth it? But this withdrawal anxiety f-ing sucks too. Anyone else had this experience? :(

TL;DR- discontinued use of pristiq (lowest dose) after 8 weeks due to terrible menstrual symptoms. It’s been 3 days and I’m so so so anxious. haven’t felt like this in months. Is this worth it? How long will the side effects last? What can I do, really don’t want to be this anxious/depressed?

Looking for an expert to speak about space weather on nature podcast!

Hi everyone! I am a producer for a small nature podcast with a fun platform focused on getting more people outside and interested in nature. I am currently searching for a heliophysicist or auroral physicist that would be interested in speaking about space weather with a focus on auroral phenomena.

If you're interested in learning more about the opportunity please feel free to message me or comment here!

I would also be interested in suggestions for an expert who may not see this! Please share with them or comment their name (or socials) and I would be happy to research and contact them myself.

Thank you.

Looking for recommendations for a speakeasy that serves food or surprise foodie spot for my husband's birthday!

For context my husband is turning 40 in two weeks on a Tuesday. I've gotten a hotel room for day use so that we can have a room service brunch and cocktails by the hotel pool. after that we're going to head to three dots and a dash for drinks.

i am looking for somewhere fun and surprising to go with good food after that. he is an asian food lover, a ramen loooover... but also loves a good steak or burger. I was thinking high five ramen because the concept is so fun to me, but if there's anything else I should consider I would love to know!

Thank you! :)

Best rooftop/outdoor pools with day pass access in Chicago?

My husband is turning 40 in a couple weeks and I wanted to do a Vegas-esque day... but in Chicago. His fav thing to do when we go to Vegas is lounge by the resort pool with a cocktail in hand and check out a great restaurant later in the day. Wondering if this sub could direct me to the best outdoor/rooftop pools in Chicago that have day passes and maybe a bar? bonus points if there is a unique and fun restaurant or cocktail spot near by!

thank you :)

Nokia 225 4G - mint mobile (so far so good)

I just switched over to my dumb phone yesterday. Mint says this phone doesn't work on their network, but it does...perfectly.
I am so happy to have switched from my iPhone (verizon) to this phone on mint. I love that all this thing can do is call and text! it's perfect!
I'm also obsessed with looking at everyone's every day carries. if you have a 225 what do you carry with it?

What can I get to eat detritus worms?

I have a great little ecosystem going on in my ACF tank! I have some detritus worms and my guy isn’t eating them very much. He is small (about 2.5” body), is there any other critter I can put in my tank to eat them? *I know it’s not typically recommended to put other things with ACFs but has anyone had any luck with it?

First volunteer day as a land steward tomorrow- I’m nervous!

I (34F) am attempting to make a career switch right now and have been doing a lot of environmental volunteer work, to see what I am most interested in pursuing. I’m still learning and don’t know much but I really take this seriously and want to be taken seriously. Field work is something that I feel like I will thoroughly enjoy but I’m feeling anxious about it.

Any tips or words of encouragement?

Hi! First timer here! I got some hitchhikers in my recently purchased plants and I’m just curious if yall could help me with an ID. I know the pics aren’t great! These guys are tiiiiny.

u/lilferalkat — 3 months ago

I know that bladder snails are generally considered pests but I’m really excited about finding this hitchhiker!
I started my first tank a month ago (rescued a frog), and now it’s cycled. I was moving plants to a second tank (oops I already have mts)… and I found a bladder snail!
The last plant I purchased was 2 weeks ago so it took me a bit to find it! I’m hoping my frog ate the rest 🤣

I have a clawed frog in here so I haven’t gone full walstad yet for obvious reasons (he kicks up everything). so I have mostly floating plants, which I’m totally okay with! I have anubias, amazon sword (some of them do have little propagation nodules!), hornwort, red parrot feather, java moss and water wisteria as well as a few others.

I feel like some of my plants don’t look very healthy suddenly and I’m wondering if I’m just being dramatic?

This is my very first tank and I’m starting a 10 gal for a mystery snail today as well. I want to make sure I’m getting it right. That one will be a walstad!

Do my plants look like they’re dying to you?

Tank is cycled
PH 7.6
ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 10
Temp 76

Hi everyone, no judgement please- but I'm trying to stock my tanks with only captive/tank bred or rehomed animals. If anyone is rehoming anything in IL I'm happy to consider!
Currently looking for:
a school of galaxy rasboras/celestial pearl danios
a mystery snail
a rabbit snail

I know that there are a few stores that sell tank-bred stock BUT they also sell wild caught and I'm trying to avoid supporting those.
please don't down vote me! I'm not judging you! :)

I posted here a while ago (sometime last year) about my baby pacing and being extremely uncomfortable night after night. Eventually, it did lead to focal seizures and escalating symptoms. We’ve gone through multiple tests and multiple vets to finally have found one that wants to get to the bottom of the issue (after 3 f****** years). Which I’m grateful for but I’m scared and also feeling guilty.

Signs are pointing to potential kidney disease or Addison’s disease. My boy is 11 and I’m just really not ready for him to go yet, not that I ever will be.

I’m feeling guilty because I should have pressured the vet into more testing sooner, but I didn’t know any better. I also feel guilty for getting frustrated by his behavior when he wakes me up in the middle of the night and there’s nothing I can do for him. I overall just wanted to give him the best life and I feel like I’ve failed him :( my husband and I are going on a trip in September and my dog’s fav person in the world will be watching him but I still feel guilty, scared, and heartbroken over this whole thing and don’t want to leave him.
