UK: Does anyone remember the KOLOR brand? Looking for a specific gold/silver shade

The bottles looked like this, this particular shade is called Decadence.

I’m looking for information on a different colour they had which was a sort of champagne shimmer/metallic with both tones of silver and gold in. We would have bought it from Superdrug (or possibly Boots) around 2000. We remember it being very sparkly and ethereal looking.

Grateful for any information anyone can share! From googling, I think Kolor was a Superdrug specific brand or that it later became Collection 2000? Bit confused by what I read about that second part and may be completely wrong as I thought Collection 2000 was around the same time. We also had a beautiful Khaki with gold shimmer from the same brand.

LynB shopping experiences

Has anybody shopped from LynB in the US? What was postage like? What do you think of the polishes you received? Are they true to the photos, more sheer, colour accurate etc.? Would you recommend?

Thank you!

What type of opal and best care advice?

Hello!

My husband bought me this cute second-hand opal cluster ring for our anniversary but he forgot to screenshot the listing so we don’t actually have any information about the type of opal!

Can anyone tell me what type of opal this is please? I’d like to find out how best to care for it so that I don’t accidentally cause damage.

Thanks in advance!

Postage to USA - Stamp or larger label?

Hello!

I want to send a postcard to someone in the US and have never dealt with international postage before.

I’ve had a look on the Royal Mail website but can’t find the answer so thought I would ask here in case anyone knows.

Will it be a stamp/stamp sized sticker that I buy for the postage, or will it be a larger label? I’m trying to decide whether I need to put it in an envelope or whether a postcard on it’s on will be fine.

Thank you in advance :)

Anyone have any advice on how to deal with difficult family?

Another post on wedding planning brought this to mind and since it’s two years down the line and still an issue, I thought I would ask for any advice/experiences lived.

My husband and I got married two years ago and, since both of our surnames have meaning for us and we wanted to be the same name, we chose to go double barrelled. We are both happy with this decision.

When my FIL found out, he had a massive rant about it to my husband over the phone, insulted me, called me not good enough, compared me to other women who had taken his name and basically blamed the whole situation on me and called me a snob. He got put on a low info diet and my husband screened his calls for a few weeks in response. This was two years ago; FIL still won’t acknowledge our married name and only sends things addressed to our first names. We rarely see them (once or twice a year) but husband speaks to his dad a few times a week since his mum died a few years ago.

The name thing hadn’t come up again until a couple of weeks ago when his siblings found out that we had changed our name to double barrelled. From then, they must have been ranting and saying nasty things behind our backs in front of their kids because when we saw the kids recently, they were clearly parroting what had been said in private, none of which was very nice.

We already live far enough away that we don’t see them often, and I don’t really speak to any of them unless it’s a brief video call for Xmas or bdays. I’ve clearly not been accepted into the family as despite having been around since all the kids were born and us being married, the siblings have all taught their kids to address me using my first name, not aunty (my husband is uncle) which again is rather hurtful and makes me feel very leftout and excluded. Husband’s family are always trying to push him to do things without me (I’m sick so can’t do much), obviously he ignores them as he’s a homebody and we love to spend our time together, but it’s annoying that they’re so thoughtless and pushy.

Do we just accept that this is how it is, and get over the disrespect? They’re not bad enough that we need to cut them off, though they all seem to have become not very nice people and have become a bit more extreme in terms of racism/sexism/right wing politics, but we only need to deal with it for a week a year and the occasional phone call. As it is right now, they’re all on an info diet, they don’t really know much about us, we don’t send photos, we live largely separate lives to them outside of brief phone calls.

A small moan

I know it’s not scream into the void Saturday yet (at least in the UK) but I just need a brief vent.

I’ve been severe and bedbound for four years now, can’t really get out of bed or go anywhere without severe consequences. I can usually cope with it because I am lucky to have a wonderful husband, a cute puppy to cuddle and loving family. I might not have the life I envisioned but I know I’m luckier than many to have these things.

My husband’s family live about 6 hours away so he rarely sees them. They’re visiting this weekend and I can hear them all on the other side of the house having fun, food and giggling while I lie in bed in the dark.

I’m happy my husband is having a nice time but god I’m lonely and hate missing out. I wish I could be the wife he deserves and be able to live a bit more life.

Tonight they’re having takeaway; I’m in a gut flare, feel very nauseous and can barely eat and the delicious smells wafting through the house are teasing me. Tomorrow they’re going out to the city I spent my youth in and I just desperately want to join them. I miss the sunshine and the breeze. I miss pretty architecture. I miss walks in nature. I miss browsing market stalls and sitting in a coffee shop with a nice drink.

MECFS is so unfair.

Moan over.

How stable are the components of stainless steel?

I’ve read that 304 stainless steel contains elements like Nickel and Copper. Are these metals stable if exposed to water/acid/heat, or do they get released into water for instance?

Anyone know if they’re going to replace Midnight Drive before all the rewards change in August?

It’s been out of stock for a few days and I’m hoping they change it or restock it since I have enough points to spend

Do you have any unusual gift/food/drink subscriptions you think are worth it?

Looking at presents for the OH and I’ve got some subscriptions in mind, but wondering if there are any slightly more unusual or exciting options which I might not have stumbled upon that are good value.

TIA!

What time do you take your Mirtazapine, if you take it?

I’m in another gut flare so we’re adding my emergency/flare drugs back in, of which Mirtazapine is one as one of the side effects is increased appetite.

I also have issues with sleep so I usually take this at night but it’s seeming to be counterintuitive as it triggers restless legs but in my whole body which keeps me awake.

How long before I’m planning to sleep can I get away with taking Mirtazapine?

Quote check please!

Hello!

Really grateful for all the really useful info on this sub, it’s really helped us learn and narrow things down.

About us:
Hampshire. WFH. Currently 4000kWh yearly electric use. Heating currently gas. Petrol car. Single phase property supply.
Plans for multi-split AC in a few years time (definite project), and would like to leave the option for ASHP and/or EV.

We’ve had numerous quotes and have finally whittled it down to between two local installers who are both MSC certified.

QUOTE 1:

29 x Longi S10 all black 490kW panels (system size 14.21 kW)
1 x 12kW single phase Sigenergy inverter
1 x 9.04kWh SigenStor battery
1 x Sigenergy Gateway SPF
29 x optimisers
All mounting, scaffolding, labour, DNO application and bird proofing included.

Expected annual generation: 12,578kWh
93% self sufficiency (this doesn’t seem realistic, it’s an open solar generated calculation so didn’t take into account degradation, shading or system losses etc.)
Estimated payback: 6 years

Experience: 10 year old company with 18+ years experience on the team. Also able to do electrics which is handy as we need some separate electrical work doing and our electrician has retired recently.

Well reviewed online. 5 year workmanship guarantee with indemnity.

£14,250
Additional 9kW battery £2,500

QUOTE 2:

36 x AIKO Neostar 2S ABC 460kW panels (system size 16.56kW)
1 x 12kW Sigenergy inverter
1 x 9.04kW SigenStor battery
1 x Gateway (not sure which one, am clarifying)
All mounting, scaffolding, labour, DNO application and bird proofing included.

Expected annual generation: 12,777kWh
53% self sufficiency (this seems more realistic than Quote 1 and the calculation was based on our actual roof measurements)
Estimated payback: 6 years

Experience: appears to be a 2 year old solar company, over 17 years of electrical experience. Not sure whether they can do additional electrics, will be clarifying this next week.

Well reviewed online though reviews only go back a year. They offer a free monthly health check on the system for the first year after install, presumably because they’re a relatively new company and want to provide post-install support. 5 year workmanship warranty with indemnity.

£12,500
Additional 9kW battery £2,500

Which quote would you be leaning towards?

Is there anything we should be watching out for when picking a quote/installer? For us, the sticking point is the level of experience that we’re comfortable with and we just can’t seem to decide.

And if anyone has any recommendations on tariff’s, feel free to chuck them my way, we haven’t researched them yet but are aware that Octopus Flux is not currently open to new customers.

Help finding a post/user

The other day I’m sure I read a post about someone trying to create a dupe of Garden Path Lacquer Arrives Without Warning (pictured) because they’d missed it at HHC and it was their white whale. I thought it was on this sub but could have been on r/frankenpolish.

Their dupe attempt was really good, and I think it had ILNP lighthouse, some kind of black flakies and maybe Dam crushed peppermint dreams in case that helps.

Well I was just browsing HHC and it looks like that polish has come back with overstock so I came on to add a comment to their post, just in case they still wanted it and didn’t know, but I can’t find the post!

Does anyone else remember the post? I just didn’t want them to miss out if they were still wanting it

Thick blood?

Anyone else notice that they have thicker blood than normal?

I’m in PEM atm and had a blood draw today. My veins were not playing ball and once she finally got some blood, my nurse commented that my blood was much thicker than usual for both me and a normal person.

Not sure what bearing it has on my health/me/pem but I’ve had the feeling that while I’m drinking lots, I’m dumping water into the tissues and bloating so this could explain why that’s happening.

Has anyone else experienced similar?

I’ve just received my sale order made on Saturday (super fast shipping time to the UK!) and I’ve started swatching my pics.

If you have

Playing with Sapphire

Starry Eyed

How many coats does it take to get it opaque? Mine have taken 4 which feels like a lot, I was expecting 2-3 for Play with Sapphire and 3 for Starry Eyed.

Thank you!
