Hi! Can I hear about your anal symptoms please. I have suspected LS in the vulva area (symptoms dating WAYYYYYY, WAY back blamed on yeast always) and now the anus has decided to tag along. Issue is, I had two vulva biopsies in a place that was irritated right inside the opening in the front. I do not know the technical term right there. Both came back negative for LS and positive for a type of dermatitis which flared INSANELY after using a steroid for suspected LS. I am having such a hard time finding a treatment that doesn't make me worse. Derm #1, I have 2 and the second is my friend, says I visually look very much to have LS due to atrophy and scarring.

Anywho, my anus started getting funky in spring/summer and never has before. I have internal hemorrhoids and I know those symptoms well. This is different. I was starting to feel "swollen" and having to manually separate my cheeks when I would have gas. Hard stools were making me bleed and tear slightly. Pooping was NOT fun but it wasn't severe as fissures I would read about either.

All of a sudden in July, I got random stinging pains like someone was pouring gasoline on a cut at the anal entrance. Then add in BAD burning in August. I only had a little itchiness once; burning has been the main symptom. The past month has been awful in the rear. I saw a colorectal surgeon the other week who told me I look ANGRY in there. She'll put me under Friday to take a biopsy and fix my hemorrhoids plus a skin tag. Not sure it's a good idea other than the biopsy as I don't wanted any extra issues so debating that part.

I am nervous about what to treat it with because I got this awful dermatitis from the Clob and Tac. Ugh.

My original question, before going on a rant, was what anus symptoms you have. I am mostly having burning and the stinging feeling of alcohol being pouring on me around the rim which brings a sharp sting along. I feel raw and rash like. The doctor prescribed an oral steroid that did nada. Other possibility is just dermatitis there but after this long? Hmmmm. Wouldn't the LS has settled by now if just a flare? Hmmm. Vaseline may soothe slightly but isn't helping the major issues. Any help is appreciated! Thank you! :)

Ugh. I’m super confused. I have had some hemorrhoids since 2013 when I delivered my son. They become external at times and then recede. I do get some bleeding from them at times.

In the spring they were acting up so I treated them with hemorrhoid cream which helped. I have had issues for the last handful of months with hard stool that has been difficult to get out. When this happens, it seems to tear my skin slightly around the anal opening and I bleed onto my stool a tad.

This used to happen sometimes and I’d heal pretty quickly. I added a stool softener last week so I am hoping it gets better BUT now I am also wondering, is my LS playing a part in that area? Derm noticed it was a little red but was unsure what from. Gastro doc, who did a colonoscopy in June, said same but no further thoughts as it seemed minor.

All this to say, how would I know it’s LS there? Maybe not know for certain, but what signs am I looking for? Thank you!

Hi. Does anyone feel very sensitive and exposed in their clitoris and hood area? This came out of nowhere a few months back for me. I can tell I’m sensitive with wiping and sometimes feel tiny little pains when moving. I feel like my nerves feel exposed or like this area feels “there” when I never used to notice it. Any ideas?

I did go through a period of pelvic and stomach clenching due to severe stress and this came on right after. Zero clue if that could be related. At a loss but would like for it not to feel so sensitive. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hello. I’ve been having abnormal bleeding since December. I had some benign granulation tissue removed from the posterior of my vagina that I thought was causing it but nope. The bleeding comes and goes. I am on combined BC and take my placebo pills which I have been doing for 20 years other than two pregnancies. I am a 43 year old female (5’9 and 120lbs) and this is freaking me out after my OBGYN confirmed yesterday the blood is coming from my uterus. I’ve been under a ton of stress this last year but not sure that means anything. Here are my uterine imaging findings from a few months back and guess I’ll need a biopsy too. So scared as I have horrid health anxiety. Any words of comfort please? Thank you!

1. Transabdominal pelvic ultrasound
The report said “Transabdominal and endovaginal imaging was performed.”
From that combined pelvic ultrasound:
Uterus: 9.7 × 3.9 × 5.4 cm
No free pelvic fluid
No uterine mass or fibroid was reported
Overall impression: “Otherwise unremarkable exam.”

2. Transvaginal / endovaginal ultrasound
This is the part that gives the closer look at the uterus and lining:
Endometrial lining: 4 mm
Right ovary: 2.2 × 2.2 × 1.5 cm, normal Doppler flow
Left ovary: 3.1 × 2.1 × 2.4 cm, normal Doppler flow
Bilateral ovarian follicles; largest 12 mm on the left
Prominent parametrial vasculature, which the report said can be seen with pelvic congestion syndrome
No endometrial mass, polyp, fibroid, abnormal thickening, or other uterine abnormality was described
Impression again: “Otherwise unremarkable exam.”

3. CT abdomen/pelvis with IV contrast
“Pelvic organs: Normal.”
“Soft tissue: Normal.”
No pelvic/abdominal mass reported
No adenopathy
No free fluid
No concerning uterine finding reported.

43 and breakthrough bleeding after years on the combined pill — hoping for feedback please!

I’m 43 and hoping to hear from anyone who has experienced something similar, as well as any physicians who may have insight.

I’ve been on a combined birth control pill for about 20 years, aside from my two pregnancies. For years my bleeding was extremely predictable. I take my active pills, then usually take about 3–4 placebo pills to have a withdrawal bleed, and then restart my active pills. I do not take the pill continuously.

Over the past year, I’ve started having breakthrough bleeding on and off while taking the active pills. It’s not constant, but it keeps happening intermittently, which is completely different from how my body responded to the pill for all those years.

I’ve also been under extreme stress/anxiety this year and have lost a significant amount of weight, with periods of eating considerably fewer calories. I’m wondering if that could be contributing, or if being 43 and approaching perimenopause can change how your body responds to a pill that worked well for years.

I’ve had a pelvic/transvaginal ultrasound. My uterus measured 9.7 x 3.9 x 5.4 cm and my endometrial lining was 4 mm. No concerning uterine or endometrial mass was reported. Both ovaries looked normal with normal blood flow and there was no free pelvic fluid. The only notable finding was prominent parametrial blood vessels that the report said can sometimes be seen with pelvic congestion syndrome.
I’ve also had a CT of my abdomen/pelvis that did not report a concerning uterine/pelvic mass or evidence of metastatic disease.

I am following up with my OB-GYN and understand that new or persistent abnormal bleeding needs to be evaluated. I’m not looking for a diagnosis here — mainly hoping to hear experiences or insight.
Has anyone had a combined pill work perfectly for many years, with predictable withdrawal bleeding, and then suddenly started having breakthrough bleeding during the active pills?

If so, I’d love to hear what your doctor ultimately thought was causing it, especially if you were in your 40s, had significant stress or weight loss, or had reassuring imaging/a thin endometrial lining. Did changing the pill, stopping it for a while, or simply going through this phase eventually resolve the bleeding?

After nearly 20 years of such predictable bleeding on the pill, the sudden change is what has me confused. Any feedback or similar experiences would be really appreciated.

Hi. I am a loooooong time sufferer who just was visually diagnosed by OBGYN and derm after finding an article on the condition and having thought I had yeast infections for decades. Ugh. My OBGYN has seen me for over ten years, never mentioned this, denied me having it and then when I asked on follow up he pointed out I likely due from the atrophy, fusing and paleness. Thanks doc. Another rant for another day.

I was prescribed Clob ointment and estrogen cream. I wasn’t sure what was causing discomfort so we took out the estrogen to gauge the Clob on its own.

I have now been on almost two weeks and feel worse. Is this anyone else’s experience????? I keep seeing people post quick relief and I have some redness, swelling, angry tissue and am not feeling relief.

Did it take a while for anyone else here to feel relief from a steroid or is there an issue at hand? Thank you!

Can I ask a general ENT question about benign posterior throat cobblestoning?

I’m 43, never smoked and don’t drink. I developed a persistent throat tickle/rawness, mucus/throat clearing and occasional raspiness. An ENT performed a flexible laryngoscopy and documented posterior pharyngeal cobblestoning, which he reassured me was benign/reactive. The remainder of my oral cavity/oropharynx, tonsils, larynx/vocal folds, hypopharynx, nasopharynx, neck and lymph nodes were normal.
I don’t have obvious postnasal drip and I’m unsure about silent reflux. About a month before this started, I had an unremarkable endoscopy other than a small hiatal hernia. I had also taken PPIs from late May through June—about 2 weeks at 40 mg and 10 days at 80 mg—and stopped without tapering. These throat symptoms appeared about a month later in mid-July.

What else can cause benign cobblestoning when postnasal drip isn’t apparent? And could reflux/rebound after stopping a PPI potentially fit this timeline? Could histamine issues play a part? Thank you very much.

Hello! Looking for feedback here as I am confused. Thank you in advance.

I started having stomach issues this spring so my GP advised a round of OTC PPI at 40mg per day for 2 weeks. Didn't really help but my stomach was getting more and more weird. She then prescribed a stronger course at 80mg per day for I believe 10 days. This was done between the span of 3 to 4 weeks between the end of May and middle of June.

I did a colonoscopy and endoscopy-overall unremarkable with no significant findings on biopsies. Stomach got better....could have been horrible work stress.

About a month after coming off the PPI, I started getting some odd symptoms:

* Dry feeling throat

* Feeling like my throat it is very sensitive where food will trigger a cough

* Cobblestone along the back of my throat

* Voice changes - will get raspy as the day goes on. Also "feels" sort of muffled at times.

* Slight burn feeling at times in throat

Those are probably the biggest symptoms. Two weeks ago today I made an appointment with an ENT. He did a scope through my nose and into my throat. Said benign cobblestone because the bumps scared me! They could have been there for a while but I never look in there, ha. Not sure if he checked my vocal cords but hopefully. At the time I was not having voice issues though.

Anyway....any ideas what is happening to me? I do not notice post nasal drip and I do not notice obvious acid coming up. I have not been sick that I am aware of. The PPI may have NOTHING to do with this but I also question, is it rebound acid and I am just not feeling it? I have never had this issue before. Thank you!

Hi! I visited an ENT the other week for symptoms I am dealing with. The lovely doctor did a scope through my nose into my throat. There was also a resident there learning the ropes. The practice’s portal is down so I called about this question a couple of days ago but no access to records currently and the nurse has not called back.

Is part of the scope being able to see my vocal cords? I know he looked at the cobblestoning in my throat but curious…would he likely have looked at my vocal cords as part of the exam? Having hoarseness so wondering and thank you!

Hi! At the end of May and throughout June, maybe 4 weeks total with a slight break, I was prescribed a PPI at 40mg twice per day. I thought I had possible gastritis with weird stomach issues but a colonoscopy and endoscopy ruled things out.

Around July 10th, give or take, I noticed my throat felt off. My voice was kind of raspy, it felt irritated as though I could cough easily, ticklish and when I looked inside, I had all these red lumps along the back of my throat.

I got a quick appointment at the E.N.T. who scoped my throat and nose but not sure how far down he went. Said typical cobblestone and said reflux/post nasal drip are the two biggest contributors. To my knowledge, I don’t deal with either currently. No history of reflux I’m aware of. Haven’t been sick lately.

A month later I am still dealing with these symptoms. Froggy voice after use during the day, maybe slight burn at times and the previously listed symptoms.

Could this be rebound and my throat is irritated even if I don’t really feel anything coming up? Super confused and thank you! 🥴🩷

I went on a PPI for a few weeks, can’t remember the exact amount but two or three, at the end of May into June. I was having stomach issues so they prescribed a PPI as a shot in the dark. I have never had reflux issues. I took 40mg in the morning and 40mg at night. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy, unremarkable, and came off the PPI sometimes mid to end of June.

A couple of weeks after, I noticed something odd one day. I was feeling like I needed to clear my throat and my throat seemed easy to trigger with a cough when food touched it. There was also a tickle. We went away that weekend and I did not notice it but the following week it came back. I thought to look in the mirror and saw these red lumps on the back of my throat. Freaked me out!

Went to an ENT who said cobblestone throat from some sort of irritation. He did the scope from my nose to my throat but not sure how far down he viewed. I now have the same symptoms but also a strained, raspy voice.

Could this be some sort of silent rebound from the PPI??? I have NEVER dealt with this prior to the PPI. I’m confused.

Hi! Doing this therapy on my daughter and it is flaring now that we’re not treating with any topical. Is there anything to put on when she’s really dry/itchy and also, anything for dry lips? I have been trying to go ZERO but don’t want her uncomfortable. In the same breath, I don’t want to put anything on where we’re starting over! Thank you. 😊
