Why does the severity of my acquired nystagmus fluctuate so wildly?

I have acquired nystagmus that my neurologist hypothesizes is due to nerve damage. I’ve noticed that since I’ve started some new med increases (more topamax and more gabapentin) my nystagmus is all over the map. Sometimes it’s like it’s barely there, sometimes it’s still very intense. It’s still awful when it’s dark/at night no matter what, but I’m just confused. I see my ophthalmologist on Thursday and I don’t know how to explain this to him?

When are y’all taking your abortives?

I have been prescribed both Nurtec and Zazpret to take for my migraines “as needed”. The problem I’m having is that I wake up in the mornings at like a 2-3 and then the migraine ramps up to a 6-8 after a couple of hours pretty much every day. I’m also taking Emgality but this is only my second month on it and so far I’m not seeing incredible results.

When are you guys taking your abortives? At the first sign of any headache, even when it’s not that bad? Or when you’re in big big pain? I feel like I’m messing up by taking it only when I’m already at a really high level.

At a loss as to how to get into this account

The phone number is one I no longer have access to, the recovery email no longer exists, and I don’t recall the password. Help? I really need to get into this email today.

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of Pulse.

May we remember, may we mourn, and may we continue to fight for equality and justice as we remember the 49 lives lost.

My therapist said a word I’m not comfortable with. What do I do?

In our most recent session, my therapist said “that’s retarded” to mean something was stupid.

Now, I have campaigned my whole life to end the r-word. Anyone who knows me knows that from middle school, I ran the Best Buddies club and I’d kick you out if I heard you use that word. I personally have never said it and I don’t hang out with people who do, it means that much to me. I think it’s never acceptable to use.

Do I say something? Do I let it slide this once? My therapist and I have a good working relationship.

Work Question

Hi all,

My acquired nystagmus has made it so that reading a screen for an extended period of time is very painful. I get severe migraines now and I am currently out of work on disability, trying to navigate how I could possibly return to my job.

My job is entirely in front of a computer screen. I am only able to read a screen for about 20-30 minutes before my head begins to hurt badly and I need an extended break, if not to be done for the day.

Any suggestions on other careers or maybe how I could possibly ask for reasonable accommodations, I’m all ears.

When people just don’t understand butchfemme

Just got into a HEATED Reddit argument with a fellow lesbian who could not wrap her brain around the idea that butchfemme is so much more than just an aesthetic and that it’s actually political and always has been! She just didn’t want to hear anything I had to say and couldn’t believe that the roots of butchfemme are and always have been in blue collar 😒🙄

I’m so TIRED of people not understanding who and what we are! I’m so tired of butchfemme being misunderstood as just being a play upon straight dynamics- it’s unacceptable in this big year of 2026.

That’s it, that’s the post. It’s almost laughable really. I’m about to be gone for 4 days and I know my dog will be looked after and loved beyond measure by my parents while I’m away. I logically know that every time I’m gone, even if it’s just for a few hours she’s totally fine- and yet my mind plays horrible, visceral mind movies of her devastated and missing me terribly until I end up texting my mom to confirm she’s okay. And she always is.
