steam's reccent july hardware survey seems to be bugged, 8GB GPUs seem to be the most common still
sorting by windows only, you can see that 8 GB of vram is still the most common. if you choose combined, it shows 16 GB of VRAM as the most common. If you go by linux only. it shows only 1 GB of VRAM, leaving only mac as 16 GB systems (because of shared memory)
Echoes of wisdom runs at 60fps on yuzu, but only 30fps on eden and rarely jumps to 60. Any idea what i can do to fix it?
For some reason, echoes of wisdom runs fine for me on yuzu but not on eden. I know that on yuzu there are issues supposedly (haven't seen any so far) but I don't wanna play far in and have to switch emulators. I'm just unsure why it runs so poorly on eden. I thought it might be vsync, but changing that does nothing. It momentarily jumps to 60 and then back to 30.
Any clue what causes this behaviour? It happens at default settings but i tried to mess around with different settings and nothing changes it.
What are your favourite games or applications you play on arkos?
I just got my r36pro clone and installed arkos on it. It was a really simple installation but now i need to start putting games, and since i don't have wifi on it, and I don't wanna constantly remove and re-install the sd card, i wanna put everything on it once and for all.
So what kinda games (outside of emulated games) or applications do you find really cool and interesting to put on arkos?
Lack of physical games will affect your dogital purchases too
I've seen people claim that it shouldn't matter since they buy digital anyway. It unfortunately still matters because a lack of competition or options on the physical side makes it likely you'll just get worse deals.
Right now the only competition sony gets on their own platform is stores that sell physical games along side the used game market. The fact that that market exist means sony has to compete with it and its prices. Since there will be no physical games, that's an avenue of options that is gone meaning sony will be able to price things however they want and since you're stuck on their platform, you have no choice but to accept whatever prices they choose for you.
I don't like Microsoft and what they're doing in general, but if they do remove physical media and if they do actually end up being more of a pc woth different store options, then that would still make it a better choice for a system, while the ps6 will be truly locked down with no options or anything.
Other than a new sd card (already got them) where do i begin with these R36 pro clones?
Just for fun, based on this listing do you think I'm gonna get a real device, a clone, or a fake?
This is from one of the bigger PC parts stores where i live. I called them and asked about it, they said it's real, but I don't trust them.
That being said, i have 0 other budget options here, amazon isn't available, and ali express takes months to deliver anything in the few rare cases where the item arrived cause I've ordered stuff that never made it. I bought it anyway to see how it goes.
What do you think I'll get?
They've handicapped the steam machine even harder by have 1x16 GB stick, not two 2x8GB sticks...
This is absolutely awful. They've done the thing that shitty prebuilds do, which is have a single stick in single channel memory which affects CPU performance. Digital Foundry says it's because they couldn't get enough 8gb sticks and had to go with 16 instead
Randomly got this post on my feed from a weird subreddit that has a lot of visitors. At first glance i noticed it's likely Ai
Flipping the image and overlaying it on the other shows this is clearly the same image with only the outfit changed. I'm 99% sure this is Ai. I checked the sub, and it's all posts from this same "girl", and I'm guessing it's some sort of scam? Which is weird cause it's a popular subreddit and it seems like reddit doesn't care.
I think DLSS 4.0 (presets j and k i think) might be unironically some of the worst versions of DLSS
I knwo when DLSS 4.0 came out everyone was shocked by how good it looks. But after using it on multiple games for a while, imo you should either use 4.5, or one of the older versions.
I don't see many people talking about it but the 4.0 version has some of THE worst artifacting I've ever seen with DLSS. This video showcases it well (https://youtu.be/WVbs8Vln2AM) but games that have any form of fog and similar effects will have some of the worst ghosting and weirdest lines and grid patterns on the fog and particle elements. It also has a weird foliage flickering issues unless you use raytracing.
Now this doesn't apply to every game, but so far I've had issues with it in cyberpunk, where the foliage flickers a lot with 4.0 if RT isn't on.
In Helldivers 2, the game will look and run fine with DLSS 3.0 or 4.5 preset M and L, but preset K creates so much ghositng that it's pointless to use it in that game. People say that "the DLSS implementation in that game is bad" but the fact that I've seen it behave the same in many games now makes me think it isn't that the implementation is bad, the model itself is really poor.
On top of that, monster hunter wilds. I know, another game that isn't very well optimized, but once again, every other model works fone except for 4.0. and i tried using a mod that disables some mandatory effects that people recommend, and it turns out it just breaks DLSS completely.
Other than that, I've seen people complain about it in assassin's creed shadow, and there's a whole bunch of games in the video I've linked above that have the same issues. God of war especially shows the awful lines that can show up as artifacts in fog effects.
Here's the ghosting on fog effects with default DLSS/preset K vs preset M
It seems like the game defaults to preset K. Look at the bottom right of the screen in the ship to see the ghosting. It's identical between preset K and the default.
Now that the DLSS override is available on the Nvidia app, it seems like the game is using DLSS 4.0 by default, and DLSS 4.5 seems to fix a lot of the issues
Ghosting especially is gone with dlss 4.5 (preset M). With DLSS 4 there's a lot of ghosting when it comes to fog which there's a lot of in this game. I noticed that even swinging the camera with DLSS 4 i was getting a lot of ghosting and weird effects.
After switching to DLSS 4.5 the ghosting is completely gone and looks like native. I put the scaling in the Nvidia app to 80%, and it looks and runs better than native with TAA.
Particle effects are still pixelated for me but they've also always been pixelated at native (running at 1080p) so this isn't any worse.
Elden ring release being announced now before the likely direct next week meas we're 99% going to see the duskbloods in that direct since they likely don't wanna overshadow either releases by the other one
We're very likely getting a Nintendo direct next week, the person who leaked it has a very good track record over all (leaked the god of war laufay game, starfox remake, previous directs etc), and fromsoft announcing the release of the switch 2 port of elden rign ahead of that means they don't wanna focus at all on elden ring in that direct and instead give all the attention to the duskbloods.
So we're very likely seeing it in that direct
Us before gaining enough insight from playing bloodborne at 60+fps and not a poorly framepaced 30fps
The jester fights added in dmc3 special edition have to be the worst addition to that version
The boss itself isn't terrible it's alright. But IMO it kinda undermines the character. I prefer how in the first half of the game he's more "mysterious" and we don't know what he's capable of.
Also while right before the first fight with him he does send blood goyles to fight Dante, his exact intentions would still be unknown at that point, while the boss fight just puts him in the "that's my enemy category"
And there's also the one last fight that doesn't make sense story wise, since arkham would have already been in hell at that point but you can somehow still fight jester.
I'm curious what people on here have felt about that addition to the special edition (and no I'm not new to the series I played dmc3 when i was 9 years old, it just popped into my head while watching someone play it lol)
What do you Microsoft means by xbox helix being able to "play PC games"?
So we found out recently through Microsoft that the next xbox will be able to play PC games. There weren't any extra details to go with that, but most leaks that talked about this a long time before it happened mention access to steam and epic games etc.
I've been seeing though, that the recent change in leadership is making some people think this won't be the case, and thatt he next xbox will just be a console again and that the pc games in question are just Microsoft store games.
The problem here though, is that pretty much all Microsoft store games are on xbox already. So saying it can play PC games in this context is meaningless and changes nothing to the user. And I've been seeing this take specifically on the xbox subreddits, who were also denying the whole "next xbox is a pc" thing way before Microsoft talked about it playing PC games, which makes me think it's just xbox people hoping the next xbox will remain a console and won't be a PC.
IMO it is just going to be a PC using windows with the xbox mode that's being added to windows. It makes sense that this would be the case, considering they are adding this to feature to windows and it seems to just be them adding a console friendly Ui for their next gen system and rolling it out before that console is released and ironing out all the issues. That would mean it would be a windows device that will be allowed to download steam and epic games without issues.
I'm curious what people on here think. Why would Microsoft announce it can play "pc games" if they're just talking about Microsoft store games? Is that just a cope from people in denial of this likely change?
Based on what we know, it's kind of insane how small the ps6 generational jump will be
We obviously don't have anything confirmed yet, but realistically, we know the ps5 won't be a 5090 level PC. It's just not realistic and knowing he prices of GPUs, even the "5080 level performance" rumours sound as bogus as the "2080ti level performance" ps5 rumours back in 2019-2020.
With the ps4 to ps5, we had a 5-6x GPU performance jump. It is an expected and big jump on the GPU. The CPU performance difference is also pretty wide (though that's harder to put into numbers unfortunately).
For the next generation, even if we were to assume the 5080 performance rumour is true, rhat would only put it at around 3x the jump, almost half the last jump. And considering that's the best case scenario, I'd say it's likely quite lower than that. I really wonder if all the extra features like better RT cores, Ai upscaling, and frame generation will be enough to make this seem like a much bigger jump, since even the ps4 to ps5 jump didn't feel as big as it is on paper.
This is what he said the steam machine parts will cost back on announcement, and he still insists it's going to be cheaper than we think.
But notice how on the steam machine part of the controller he puts "$35" and at this point, we've seen that the controller itself is being sold for $99. This suggests either valve have a really high profit margin, or you know.. that this whole thing is incorrect and baseless. So i wouldn't listen too much to what he has to say.
i made this relatively low poly (not PS1 level, closer to PS2 but still) werewolf for my game. Not really looking to perfect it, just thought i'd share this little run animation i made.
I know that we get to fight rom in byergenworth and in a chalice dungeon. They're named Rom in both those fights.
I know you also see a corpse of rom (or one that resembles them) in the ebrietas boss room. I was under the impression that the corprse in ebrietas' room was the same one that we killed in byergenworth but transproted there somehow. But after seeing that you can fight them again in the chalice dungeon, I'm wondering if they're just a type of great ones?
Or is it possible it is the same one and is somehow undying? Does anyone know or can explain more?
