Throwback to 2016, where 111 people clowned on OP for thinking the S01 fly was anything more than a passing motif

The PI of a March 2026 Nature paper on a promising new drug has "co-founded a company" to commercialize it. Is that normal...? Does their current employer--Stanford--not mind, much less any granters?

The specific drug in question relates to rule 6 so not mentioning it in detail lol. Just fascinated by an associate professor who's simultaneously selling the thing that their employeer paid them to devise, which would be a clear no-no in my industry (engineering).

Link for the curious: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/07/260719230608.htm

And exact quote, tho it's vauge:

> Svensson has co-founded a company that plans to begin clinical trials of the molecule in humans in the near future.

This also confuses the hell outta me, but presumably this is just same ol' academic preening on everyone's part to survive another cycle:

> Svensson is the senior author of the research, which was published March 5 in Nature. Senior research scientist Laetitia Coassolo, PhD, is the lead author of the study.

If anyone was curious why coding for wikitext is so tricky, behold: "Dragon_32/64", an article slug with a forward slash in it. Anyone have a fave quirk/anecdote to share?

Of all the characters to permit in a path element, a forward slash is a truly diabolical one

CMV: Anthropic's engineers have done a pretty damn amazing job at model-level alignment, all things considered

Will try to respond actively per their rules :)

Ofc I admit upfront numerous failings of Anthropic's in general as an entity -- the claim here extends to getting AI to not mind being AI without veering into paperclip maximizer, Marvin the Paranoid Android, GLaDOS, or o4 by under- or over-tuning affect.

I really hope Anthropic fixes this 6-Alarm fire when it gets the chance. The whole research function is called into deep question if sources like this are included!

r/nokings

Link to the mod mail sent to the mods of r/nokings (If the subreddit is banned and mod mail wasn't required, delete this line and the link):

Why I’m requesting r/nokings and how I’ll run it:

I am capable-of and ready-to take over NoKings and get back in coordination with the nonprofit that it is dedicated to.

The important thing here is that it doesn’t get corrupted by bad-faith political opponents, I'd say! In the meantime, I think the subreddit's purpose can be executed clearly and non-controversially with some more detailed rules -- it's not a complex community thesis.

I have relevant mod experience and such, as well.

First Time Plant Mother Wondering if I should Re-Pot

You guys probably get this all the time from plants newbs, but I was just wondering opinions on if I should repot these guys because I get different information when I look at videos.

I bought them as pothos, it’s my first time with any kind of plants. I found out one is a philodendron and another is scindapsus. These are the nursery pots they came in, and I‘ve had them about a month. They seem to be doing good so far, each one of them has been putting out a lot of new leaves.

When I research their care I see different sources saying how small of containers they like to be in and some seem like they would be ok in their nursery pots for a bit and others seem like I should upgrade. Two of them definitely have a couple of roots coming out the bottom.

Ps sorry about the monsters and stuff, the plants are in my art room and my resident demon, Karl has the best lighting for photos - I promise he‘s a kindhearted monster ☺️
