i guess that *might* be your only career choice..?

with all of this stupid stuff around bashing the NWS for warning tornadoes (amazing), here's some fun stuff about what jobs you can get with a meteorology degree.

the NWS: the NWS always needs new people and spotters.

weather stations: station jobs move quickly, you might be able to get a good job at a news station.

NASA: rockets need perfect conditions to launch. if your mind is really up to it.. go for it.

the children are fighting.

max has, once again, found himself in the middle of school banter that children participate in.

from the outside (my view), this is funny yet stupid on so many levels because its always the professionals Vs "professionals".

Minden, Iowa EF-3 (26th april 2024)

i found this video of the Minden-harlan EF-3 on Instagram so i thought id share it. credit to a man named scott peake.

the Minden-harlan EF-3 was a massive 1 mile wide, multi vortex beast that struck the north side of Miden, iowa.

this beast packed winds of 160 mph (260 kph) in official ratings, with a DOW recorded peak winds of around 225 mph (360 kph).

this absolutely horrifying tornado, at it peak, was just over 1 mile wide (1.7 kilometers wide) and tracked for nearly 41 miles.

this tornado occurred the same day as the Elkhorn EF-4 that happened in Nebraska. in fact, this tornado tracked longer than the Elkhorn-blair EF-4 in the same time frame (1 hour to 1 hour and 5 minute's).

unfortunately, this tornado killed 1 person and caused an immense $112 million in damages.

Orania, South Africa

Orania is a valkstaad in the Karoo region of south Africa.

it is a completely autonomous town that operates as a company/business in order to protect itself from law.

the town was created in 1991 on the eve of the apartheid fall in south Africa. the town generates most of its money thorough pecan sales and uses coupons as their current form of currency.

its extremely hard to gain Orania citizenship, the must haves are Afrikaans heritage, knowledge of the Afrikaans language and white skin.

the current government of south Africa generally ignores the town, despite being against the volkstaad.

my MILs coworker is nuts.

im sitting here watching the news at 10 in the morning, listening to my MIL talk to her coworker..

her coworker genuinely believes that Pauline hanson is a true battler and cares about the Aussie homeless population and minimum wage worker.

she stated "she doesn't care about immigrants, she wants the non-skilled indians to get lost so the jobs can get given to the Aussies" in reference to her saying pauline isn't racist.

her coworker genuinely believes that the woman who voted against minimum wage.. is a battler for the true Aussie workers.

some people genuinely see information directly in front of their face, and say its fake information.

the entire irony that i find, is her coworker isn't Union and earns $27 an hour.. her indian and Nepalese coworkers are union and earn above $35 an hour for the same job.

i can never imagine voting for an anti-australian politician who wants to sell Australia.
