RE has always had this B movie vibe that takes inspiration from films like The Evil Dead. There’s also a really long history of horror comedies involving zombies / monsters - see Shaun of the Dead, Tucker and Dale Vs Evil, Zombieland, etc, etc.

Not only was Cregger’s attempt full on and proper Resident Evil in every sense of the franchise, it was also the best game-to-film adaptation in to date. It’s also just a really fun rollercoaster ride of a film at 95 minutes long.

Personally, here’s all of the things it did absolutely right that makes it a RE experience:
- location changes: civilisation, dark roads and first encounter, creepy farm house, tunnels, city centre, sewers, hospital into laboratory.
- zombie / monster design and mutations
- sound design
- gore and violence
- weapon upgrades
- tragic side characters
- humour and comedy violence that straddles that line between horrid and funny
- the sense that a much wider problem was developing in the background
- first person scenes
- the fact it all gets a bit silly at the end
- References to the game, from diamond keys to actual references to gaming
- Racoon City’s general vibe

Here’s somethings Gregger changed but were successful:
- a lack of shambling zombies - I think this trope has been done to death (mind the pun) so a fresh take / reference to later titles was more fun.
- an unprepared and lacking protagonist - let’s be real, in the games we’d be playing as Maxine (I think that’s her name). Focusing on a clumsy, dorky guy worked well with this story though.
>!- the ending - I think it makes it unique that it ends badly for the protagonist. This is not a video game after all.!<

Honestly, I really enjoyed it and this it did everything it set out to do. It’s a proper romp, a fun, exhilarating, faithful adaptation that makes changes where it seems sensible for the medium. It’s really, genuinely a great film.

I sincerely hope Cregger doesn’t visit this forum, because there is a slew of bullshit takes from so-called fans who can’t fathom what interpretation is; they want a carbon copy of something that already exists, and anything less than that is shite. Those people are not true fans.

I got a "shipped" notice and "label created" on Thursday 13th at 10:30pm EDT. My order hasn't moved since.

I contacted Mezco twice over the last week and they got back to me really fast with an apology and a it will go out "soon".

I don't mind waiting but I was just wondering if anyone in the UK (or internationally) is also waiting on this specific figure, or if you've already got yours. I know quite a few in the USA have got theirs, but Mezco still uses FedEx for international shipments.

In all of my past Mezco direct orders, I usually get the "label created" notice followed up by FedEx updates less than 24 hours later. Most orders appear to go out on Wednesday / Thursday and I have them in hand the following Monday, which I think is really fast for USA to UK.

Note: this is not a complaints thread so please don't just post negativity; I'm a lot more interested in information.

I'm a long time DOOM fan and most enjoy that game when I'm UVMAXing from pistol start individual levels. It seems most modern wads are built around this format, or at least accommodate it.

My question: in your view, what is the most fun way to play QUAKE?

Breaking down the question:

- traditionally, is hard the chosen difficulty for boomer shooter vets?

- do you prefer to play continuous, or do you pistol / shotgun start each map?

- do you save mid level / quick save/load or do you only save at the end of each level?

Now, obviously, there's play however you want, but I'm more asking what the general consensus is on the most fun way to play QUAKE.

I think this is one of the best sets I've seen in TEKKEN 8 so far. CBM (Jin) VS Keisuke (Kazuya). Just pure poking, punishment, reads, movement, spacing, and execution.

I haven't finished watching the tournament yet, so please don't spoil the result, but I really like the FT3 format of the EWC. It allows for more reads and more mind games; less bullshit.

My original Hitbox sometimes disconnects while playing TEKKEN 8. I've ordered a new cable from SmallCab (EU based retailer - I'm from the UK) to test.

I've also been looking at the recent HitBox PC edition and I have a couple of questions:

1. is it currently in stock on the USA website?

2. is the HitBox PC / HitBox Ultra essentially the same size as the original HitBox in terms of custom art? Loading the custom art template from the official website only has one size.
