Dark romance follows the same way pornography did

Okay, i guess, we all agree that DR is basically porn getting printed. It doesnt contain any real plot, because the whole point of this “books” is sexual pleasure: MC are sex dolls who serve only one purpose, to arouse; the plot is based on a sexual fantasy and has no real lore, ideas and even sense. Growing as a genre, DR develops the same issues pornography did—as the time passes, it becomes more and more extreme, to the point of getting completely sick and immoral. if in the beginning those labeled as “porn” contained just naked women and it was enough to satisfy people’s pleasures, now the very first page of pornhub contains extreme kink like rape, degradation, facefuck, etc. The dark romance follows the same way: with time it gets worse, and it will keep getting worse. If in the begging the genre was just “highly questionable”, now it openly exploits themes like pedophilia and gore, often in their extreme forms.

I have some controversial thoughts about DR and media like this. I think authors of those stories that openly glorify and exploit violence not even trying to look like they condemn it should be sued, because it works as a propaganda. There’s a difference between literature like Burgess’s “Clockwork Orange” and similar, that genuinely tries to dig into the nature of violence, and a piece of porn that mindlessly propagandizes and normalizes it, and its huge. Unfortunately, it does its damage to society. No way things like “loving rape” and “loving a rapist” should be normalized and popularized in the society. People stop seeing rape as wrong. A lot of authors try to make a reader sympathetic to the MMC and openly put the responsibility for his actions on his victims. This is fucked up, because often it made genuinely, without the “I’ll show how bad is it” view. Basically, it turns our progressive culture back.

Obsession with “showing dominance”

I find this genuinely creepy how this people do literally ANYTHING in purpose to “show dominance/submission to a partner”. Like, if they have sex, it must be about dominance, they can’t just enjoy each others bodies and make each other feel good. If they have a moment of tenderness, it’s must be about showing the dominance as well. If they live together, it’s mostly about one serving another. If they take a walk, they can’t just go for a walk, they must do something to show their dominance too, like wearing that horseshit collars or other. If they go out with their friends, they still keep using the situation to “show their dominance publicly”. And they go deep telling a story about how satisfying it is to be the only one left with all the chores around the house like a slave, and it’s not even about sex, it’s about starting a fucking dishwasher. Every smallest, tiniest interaction is supposed to be about the power dynamic. Every single movement is not just a movement, its a DOMINANCE movement. I really start feeling like bdsm is a disease that affects brain in a way that doesn’t let people think.

me when i hear “oh youre so skinny what is your diet” once again

my diet is called debts and scurvy. a few month ago i nearly died from the consequences of severe starvation when i stole food and only ate once in three days and that was shitfood with barely any nutrition like instant noodles. my organs stopped working properly, i stopped assimilating food. i have a damn scrurvy in the big 2026 😭 im f18 and i look a few years younger because i probably cant grow anything because of multiple deficiencies and malnutrition. so my diet is what i would not recommend

i just get so pissed every time i get asked that very same question, because why the f would you think im anorexic i was just working like a fucking mule without sleep and food!!! in my point of view asking any person such things is just so, so damn tactless. why do you care? its none of your concern. i hate with my entire soul being reminded of the hunger i went through and every time people point out how i look i had to do this and remember how terrible i looked back then which i try to forget. my muscles just werent there anymore, i literally had nothing, everything was hurting and the back muscles werent capable of keeping my back at least remotely straight and looking in the mirror was genuinely terrifying, it was like looking at another person with wild hungry eyes, i felt like i was becoming an animal who just wanted food, sleep and warm and did anything for this. i dont want to remember this ever again, existence like this alone is just so humiliating.

if you figured that your child is a serial killer (or a terrible criminal some other way), would you still consider them your child, or disown them?

I know for parents its probably hard and painful to imagine, but Its a genuine question, i asked it on a different sub recently but didnt get many answers, so i decided to ask it here. Im genuinely interested to know how most people would do.

Anybody had very severe reaction at quitting?

Hello, ive been prozac for a year and it was the first drug that helped me greatly. I was on 20 for 4 months, then i was on 40 because 20 wasnt enough. About a month ago i decided to taper off, because i already took the course doc prescribed. So, i thought i was going slowly (i didnt as i understand now, i basically jumped from 40 to 20 to 2), but after about a week when i stopped taking it completely ive got that hell of a reaction when i was shaking severely, like i couldn’t even walk, had extreme panic, nausea, diarrhea, the whole list of withdrawal until i took it. I had big memory issues, so i thought that i was going way slower than i actually was, because a week or two somehow became a month in my head (i was starving back then so the issues came from malnutrition, i feel stupid now, but i was fighting refeeding syndrome at that moment and couldnt think about anything but this). It made me really scared. I felt terrified by what happened because it lasted for two hours even though it was my fault, so i tried to learn the reasons it can be so severe, only then i learned that if you weight less, its harder for you to taper off and im under 100 lbs, i dont know if it mattered or the fact that i was very malnourished. Then it happened another time when i was trying to go 10 mg, it was almost as severe as it, i didnt understand what i was doing wrong and i feel extremely dumb and embarrassed. I take 20 and two times a week 30 now and im rather fine, but still scared. I just wanted to ask if someone was there or maybe made same mistakes, im really fearful 😭 Please tell me if you had that severe quitting experience too, i just want to feel that im not alone. Because im still quitting i feel rather anxious about things overall right now, but about the quitting itself the most

Akathisia

Anyone ever experienced akathisia from b12 deficiency? I had severe b12 deficiency going on for years due to being celiac, i was very low at it. When i was taking b12 pills it barely helped because of my bad gut health, i can only take shots. So, i was already very low at b12 at fourteen years old but since i had very bad surroundings and circumstances nobody cared and it kept getting worse until i was so low at it ive got akathisia. Before that (at the age of 16) i already struggled to sleep for a while because my feet were burning so much and i had no idea what caused it. At 17 ive first got my akathisia, it was so bad i genuinely wanted to kms. I begged to take me to the doctor but was rejected so i had to figure out what it is and how to fight it myself, it took about a half of a year. Then i learned that b12 deficiency can cause it if it is severe. I was taking supplements since then and it went away, but the deficiency was still there so i moved to shots now. I wonder if anyone here was that bad with the deficiency thing.

Can I use names in my book if Im a no-name or its gonna be disrespectful?

So, Im writing a novel set in a culture where people have names. I was born nameless, but I want my characters to have a name, because I was always interested in people who had a name and really wanted to have one too! Do I have the right to name my characters, or its gonna be offensive to those who naturally come from having-a-name culture?

I want my characters to be named like this:

1. name

2. last name

What do you think? Is it gonna be politically correct enough?
