Three reasons why the opening scene leak doesn't matter.

Three reasons why the leak / rumor of Tobey Spider-Man dying in the opening act won't matter:

  1. There is a rumor that in addition to Tobey fighting to defend his universe, Doc Ock and Green Goblin will also fight Magneto while Deadpool and Wolverine fight Spider-Man. This means that the Earth-96283 is not the original Earth-96283 from the Raimi trilogy, it is the branched timeline created in NWH when Ock and Goblin were pulled into the MCU timeline. They were returned to Tobey's universe alive and cured, therefore making a branched timeline where they wouldn't have died as villains. There is also another rumor that Tobey will actually have an Iron Spider suit instead of his original suit, which Octavius helped Peter to create after having been cured, his tentacles were subdued by Tom earlier using the iron tech. This explains why the leaked set photos of Tobey don't have him in costume, but in the CGI gear instead. So basically, everyone in that universe is just a variant of the actual Earth-96283, therefore there is no actual significance to Tobey or anyone in that universe dying. The original Earth-96283 is either still intact or can just be written off as having been already pruned, Goblin and Doc Ock are dead in the original timeline.

  2. It's Disney, Secret Wars will end with undoing everything that Doom could and possibly will inflict on anything and anyone, just like how the snap in Infinity War was completely undone with no consequences.

  3. Even then, everything is going to be reset and rebooted after Secret Wars so anything not in the MCU is screwed either way lol

HOW did sandboxed Instagram know what I searched for in Brave!?

Okay, I REALLY need to understand how THE FUCK Instgram knew that I searched something, on the BRAVE BROWSER, on my phone (Android 16)

Here's what happened:

  1. I'm scrolling through a Telegram channel. I come across an article from a small blog that happens to be about an animal rights activist. I open this article in Brave.
  2. I highlight the activist's name, search it on Brave (which is my default browser), and tap an article on MSN about the same story.
  3. I close the tab, open Instagram - which is running in the Work Profile provided by the Shelter app from F-Droid - and IMMEDIATELY when I start scrolling, I see THE ACTIVIST'S INSTA PROFILE reporting THE SAME ARTICLE that I just opened.

I had Instgram in Shelter. I was running BRAVE - the browser that, you know, prides itself on privacy, and what's more - I HAD THE SETTING ON TO CLEAR BROWSING DATA ON EXIT. Telegram, Brave and Instagram in the work profile should NOT be talking to each other. That is absurd. So someone PLEASE tell me how the hell did Instagram know? Serious responses only please, so everyone and anyone who needs to know can understand this shit.

If I become an EU (Irish) citizen, will I be subject to Chat Control and other EU affronts on digital privacy?

I am currently a British citizen, eligible to get an Irish passport since I was born in Norther Ireland (the island of Ireland). If I get an Irish passport which means I would be an EU citizen (again), would all the EU's invasive laws like Chat Control apply to my devices? Will they start spying on me since I would be an EU citizen?

What happened here?

I specifically instruct my project not to use the rule of three, give it a simple alternative and it still uses the rule of three. What am I doing wrong?

Why is a 2-page CV usually considered a bad thing?

You can print a 2-page CV on one sheet of paper (double-sided). So why is a 2-page CV often considered a bad thing? I have about 6 YoE, but I have always had my CV at 2 pages and never had an issue.

Does Windows GDID only attach when Microsoft account is used to login to Windows, or always when using an MS account with any app (Outlook, Office etc?)

As in if you only use a local account to sign into the OS but you use MS account for the default Outlook app and so on (where you go to windows settings > Accounts > Email & accounts)

Can't start Flashpoint

I just installed Flashpoint on a new laptop and I get this error message. Another thread from 4 years ago said to install Visual C++ Redistributable 2015 but I already have that installed (as 2015-2022 redist, both x86 and x64). Can anyone help please.

Is credit card the least bad way of verifying age as opposed to ID or face scan?

For example on Steam. I have always bought games with my credit card, but I never actually saved it in my account, so to them I'm not age verified and I can't view NSFW game pages. I don't really mind verifying my age by credit card for Steam since they already know my real name based on the PayPal and billing address I've given them, that is probably saved in a file somewhere on their servers.

But in general, credit card should be the least bad way to verify because it includes no face or ID scan, so they can't save a picture of your face on their servers, right?

My theater experience (no spoilers)

Bit late, but I saw the episode in theater and it was awesome, I had no real issues with it. Before it drops online tomorrow I just wanted to share my experience. Honestly, it really shook my expectations.

The theater had like 10, probably 12 people in the entire theater and they were completely silent. I heard small laughter exactly once and I can't even remember during which scene it was, but that was about it. It was an evening showing on a Friday as well so I was half-expecting it to be as bad as this sub made it out to be.

I should probably also mention that this was in Japan.

Are people not concerned with the increasing amount of laws and bans in this country?

Every week there seems to be a new law announced that affects ordinary people. The Online Safety Act. The new smoking ban for anyone born after 2008. Phones banned in schools by the government. Social media banned for under 16s. Image / video scanning. Digital ID. The lot.

Can the UK govt settle the fuck down for just one second? It's like a never-ending stream of legislative dystopian diarrhea that, sadly, spills over affecting the rest of the world. And it's not like they don't have any more pressing matters to deal with over there.

I didn't really achieve anything in my roles - do I HAVE to include metrics and achievements even though they never presented themselves?

A common thread I keep seeing in CV advice is that recruiters / employers look specifically for achievements rather than just what you did at your job. Well the reality is that for a lot of people, many people don't get to do anything super-noteworthy - not because they don't want to, but because the opportunity never really came up or they never got the chance to work on a big project and make an actual, measurable, tangible impact that you could write a blog post or article about. They're always up for it but management doesn't often give them the chance to shine, unless you're at a senior level or something like that. In the end most people just go to work, work 9-5 or whatever their shifts are, then go home and forget about what they did that day.

So with this in mind, do you really have to put metrics, percentages, how much you saved / improved XYZ on a CV as a bare minimum, or is it better to avoid making stuff up? Is it better for ATS if you do? It seems it could go either way but I'm curious as to what people here actually think.

How did you acquire your GF / wife / casual relationship? (or your last one)

Q4M since I want to hear both RP and BP perspectives (other pills welcome too). Since I hear a lot on this sub on how the onus is on men to pursue women and drive dating and relationships, I want to know how you managed to acquire your last female partner. Girlfriend, FB, casual, wife - they all apply. What strategies and specific steps did you execute to court and have sex with her? How did you make her your girlfriend? If you don't currently have a gf or partner then talk about your last relationship or the last woman you were intimate with.

Windowed mode

I recently moved and I have a portable monitor which runs at 1920x1280 60hz (yes, 1280p) resolution. Usually I would game on a 144hz normal monitor but I left that at home. Ever since switching, every time I launch Carnivores Legacy it sets the resolution to 800x600, the screen tries to adjust, then it goes back to the desktop - it refuses to focus properly on the game.

Is there any way to run Carnivores in windowed mode to avoid this, either through dgVoodoo or some other setting?

EDIT: It's the white van men and tradies - thanks everyone!

Recently certain acts like catcalling and other forms of harassment in the UK were made an aggravated offense - The Protection from Sex-based Harassment in Public Act 2023. It makes the following grounds for conviction:

  • Catcalling, wolf-whistling, or making sexual/obscene comments or propositions
  • Following someone in a threatening or intimidating way
  • Leering, persistent staring, or cornering someone
  • Unnecessary invasions of personal space (e.g., pressing against someone on public transport)
  • Shouting threats of sexual violence
  • Blocking someone’s path or making obscene gestures

While all of this makes sense on paper, I'm curious to know who exactly are the ones catcalling women that motivated the government to make this a specific crime? And what was the whole background to it? The real story that happens every day.

With these headlines and talk about Google scanning your photos and all that, we need to ask the real questions:

  1. Does Google actually scan every single .jpg, .png, .gif file that sits on your device's file system and your SD card and phones them home, assuming you use an alternative gallery like Fossify Gallery that isn't connected to the internet?

  2. If so, is this scanning done by the Android OS, a background or kernel-level type of service, or just the Google Photos app?

You gotta tell people the actual implications of this stuff to convince them to degoogle.
