Media use of royal titles?

I'm not a royalist but something the media seems to do constantly that annoys me is the misuse of royal titles.

I remember when the Queen died it was published that Charles would become King and that the Queen wished for Camilla to have the title Queen Consort. So why does every UK media post refer to her as just 'Queen'.

Another one is when everything kicked off with Harry, it was said that he would drop his royal titles when he moved to America and stopped his royal duties...yet he's still referred to as Prince Harry.

It also took them a while to drop the Prince title from Andrew.

Radiator TRV Valve

Hi all, Im looking for a 10mm x 3/4 inch TRV Valve for 2 radiators. Radiators are original so 25 years old. I drained the system down last week, took off the current valve to realise the new 10mm valve with 1/2inch connector doesn't fit the existing tail. And the tail doesn't have any internal thread/hex nor any way to get grips or a spanner onto it.

I went into 2 local plumbing shops but neither had any and didn't think they were made anymore. I'm looking to put smart heads on atleast 1.

Don't particularly want to replace the radiator to a newer one just to have a 1/2 tail unless I absolutely have to.

IOF Device Status

Does anyone know how long Octopus will leave you on IOF without them actually controlling the battery?

Theoretically 👀 If I was on IOF, in VPP mode with Sigenergy and I was to join an Axle event and they take over VPP control...post event it doesn't go back into Octopus VPP mode. So I (theoretically of course) put it back into AI mode. In the Octopus app in Devices it can still see the device and the data is live (Correct solar generation, export kWh, battery charge status etc) but its not connected so Octopus doesn't have control.

Agent Lifecycle Administration

So me and 2 others have spent hours already this week manually going through 'Agent 365 Inventory' to implement a manual lifecycle process where agents that have not been used AND updated in the last 90 days get blocked (then deleted after 1 week).

Just general housekeeping, nothing fancy. And yet Microsoft still haven't got a solution to either make this automated (like you can with idle Teams/M365 Groups), or even as simple as select multiple agents from the inventory and block all in one go.

And to top it off you can only delete agent's built in Agent Builder through Agent 365, Copilot Studio is a block only. Can't even delete from Power Platform admin portal from what I can find either, the only way is via the environment within Studio itself

How are other people managing agents like this?

Bedtime Story

Does anyone else think whats the point when reading a bedtime story and the child is completely uninterested and doesn't listen to a word.

My Daughter (5) has always been interested in stories since she was about 12-18 months. She would sit on our lap at bedtime and listen to the story and look at the pictures. Even to this day she has a daily story before bed.

But my son (2.5) has never been interested. Has never really listened or paid attention to the story or pictures. It just seems like its a complete waste of time. We still read daily but the amount of times I end up just skipping pages or paraphrasing sections.

Hosepipe vs Watering Can

I'm sat here with my morning brew reading a few different posts on this sub which got me thinking. One post was absolutely flaming someone for openly admitting they won't be abiding by any hose pipe bans and others with comments saying people are filling 10, 15, 20+ watering cans per day to water the flowers.

Why is it acceptable in this community to use up to 200l of water in a can doing multiple trips without thinking twice about the consumption but its not acceptable to use 200l in a hose?

I'm not in a hosepipe ban area yet, but I use a nozzle so I can switch off flow in between pots and borders so its not wasting any. And I never understood how that is banned but I can use as much as I want from a can.

I'd love to see some research on this but a can could actually use more water vs what you would use with a hose. How many times have you got to the bottom quarter or so of the can and just used it up on flowers you've already watered so you can go back to the tap and fill up before starting a new section? Whereas with a hose you naturally move around so could use less overall.

Yes there are people who take the piss and fill up the swimming pool every day instead of reusing the water and covering it each night, but this is around gardeners and why hosepipe is big no no but use as much as you want with a can

Initial Testing

Hi all

I've recently come across TRT through social media adverts and interested in getting tested as I've been struggling with motivation, energy and low libido on and off over the last 2 years (m32). Its impacting my mental health and also really hurting my relationship with my 2 young children and I want to fix that before its too late. Until now I've just put it down to stress but seeing some of the symptoms of low testosterone has made me think.

About 3-4 years ago I did one of the general health finger prick tests and testosterone came back on the lower side but I never followed up on it.

I'd now like to start the testing process however I'm cautious over using any of the companies that offer TRT services as I feel they could report results lower to get more sales.

So where do I start? A finger prick test then paying privately at somewhere like Nuffield/Spire for a dedicated testosterone blood test and then take the results to a TRT clinic if they are low and require treatment?

Axle VPP Event - No warning

Interesting just had an email stating I had entered VPP mode even though I had 0 warning of any event and therefore didn't opt in (I'm a Sigenergy user). Logged in to the account to check and there isn't even an event right now and there is one for 3pm today (that I hadn't been notified about) . Looks like still some issues with the API.

Not a big issue right now as Im just exporting solar and battery and can recharge, but this would be an issue if it was an unexpected event join during peak hours

IOF Rant

I'm going to break my own advice when it comes to IOF (which is don't pay attention to what its doing because it doesn't make sense half of the time)

But I had the email for the super saver session happening right now, I signed up to it, Octopus has full control of my battery so you'd expect they would save some battery for this period where they clearly need additional energy on the grid...nope they dumped it all between 6-7pm and now I'm importing 1kWh to run the AC unit.

I'm not complaining because I got more exported during the peak prices, but it just confuses me that I give control of my battery to help balance the grid and when they clearly need energy they don't use that period to take it.

Octopus Flux is Back

Just gone on to do my regular check and Standard Flux is now available, still getting the same unavailable message for Intelligent Flux but this is a move in the right direction

Axle VPP Event not started again

2nd time in a week that Axle VPP has failed to take control. The reliability is getting worse not better. I set up a manual export over the hour so I'll still get paid for it but its annoying the consistent issues

UK/EU Admins - Anthropic or Not?

Just wondering what the experience has been for UK/EU admins to get Anthropic reviewed and potentially enabled within Copilot since Microsoft have taken them in as a subprocessor?

Im trying to get risk and governance to review so it can be enabled but there are still a lot of nervous feelings from their side.

Its a hard battle being a Copilot admin. I have weekly messages from senior leadership saying how amazing Cowork looks when can we use it ..then I have to be the bad one to say we can't because its not been approved by Data and Legal reps.

Portable AC Heating Capability

UK based, don't have the funds for a full A2A Heat Pump/AC system currently.

I'm looking at a Portable AC unit (or 2) to use with our annual week of heat in the UK (might have already missed this years). But I also had solar + battery installed this year. I was wondering how useful the heat functions are on portable AC units to use over the winter on sunny days to avoid using gas heating.

Are they suitable if I put it on the landing to warm up multiple rooms? Or is kt similar to AC cooling where it's only really suitable for the room that its in?

Flux future in doubt?

I made a few comments on posts here the last few weeks around my thoughts that Flux will potentially be discontinued, or atleast changed drastically from as we know it.

I had solar installed in Feb, a few weeks later the tariff was pulled due to the conflict as well as other smart tariffs. Very quickly Go etc were readded but Flux was always left unavailable with the excuse 'Due to market price volatility', but surely with Flux it encourages green energy export which means the less reliance on imported energy during daytime, especially during the summer months.

I left feedback on my recent enquiry on the tariff and had this reply which I'm reading between the lines of the Tariff is not going to be what it was if it ever returns for new customers.

"Thank you very much for your feedback regarding the Octopus Flux tariff. With the recent announcement of the new price cap coming into effect from 1st July, we are currently assessing our options and considering what this could mean for the tariff moving forward."

It's 2026 and BBC still cannot provide a UHD app for all streaming devices, especially mainstream like Nvidia Shield Pro. My 6 year old LG built in app has the functionality but not the more powerful streaming device.

Centre channel behind TV?

Tldr would a centre speaker be worth hiding behind the TV, or just stick with no centre at all and let the 2 fronts handle this?

I moved into a new property middle of last year and have been running basically 4.1 without centre channel due to an existing 'media wall' removing the ability to have it.

I will be rebuilding this in a few weeks because currently r/tvtoohigh and I don't like the fireplace. When I rebuild the TV won't be in a recess, it will appear to be 'on the wall' but there will be a recess behind thats not visible from viewing position. Would I get any benefit putting my existing centre speaker in this behind the TV?

I'm not looking for any comments on the media wall itself, I know a lot of people don't like them, but it is what it is.

I've got the Eufy S4 NVR and POE cameras. I'm looking at purchasing a wall display device that I will then be setting up home assistant and getting various dashboards to display on this device.

Can anyone confirm that Eufy has integration that would allow the camera feed to show live on the display? Rather than action notification.
