>Mark Vientos is back in New York after spending the last month in Port St. Lucie with a fractured hand. >There is no estimated timeline for a return, but the Mets said Vientos is “progressing.”

>“He spent a lot of time down there, and he’s got a great tan right now. Looks really good,” interim manager Andy Green said Friday. “Don’t have a game date for him when he’s going to start, but it’s good to see him bouncing around and taking ground balls and hitting. So he’s moving along.”

Mets Notebook: Clay Holmes may not pitch again before trade deadline

>Clay Holmes is headed back to New York to join the Mets, but he may have already made his final appearance with the team that gave him a chance to be a starting pitcher again.

>The right-hander made a rehab start with Low-A St. Lucie on Tuesday and will return to Citi Field to throw his next bullpen later this week, which would mean his turn in the rotation would come up after the Monday trade deadline.

>Still, the Mets could activate him after his bullpen, and interim manager Andy Green said he’ll have some say in the decision. How much say is unknown given the Monday trade deadline. Holmes is a top contender to be dealt, so exposing him for injury by pitching him, either as an opener or out of the bullpen, may not be in the best interest of the Mets.

NFL star Ray Rice's tragic, violent life back in spotlight after man who killed father arrested for second murder
