Leach flapping too much when reefed

Was out in 20-22, 34' boat w self tacking jib. Should have had the main furled in another foot or 2, we were a bit over powered. I have vertical battens. My leach line is fairly tight, but as you see in the video the last section of leach behind the last vertical batten is flapping way too much. We are pinching a bit, clearly if I fall off more it flaps less, but we were awa 48deg. The boat should do 40. Maybe I just need to roll up a bit more main so I can sheet in tighter? Or should that leach line be tighter?

To those who are telling me where the leach line is and it is loose, here is an updated post:

Yes. Thanks, I know where the line is and I tightened it some before I took the video. The slack you see on the right side of the loop (if you stop the video) is from me pulling the left side tighter and not opening the flap and tucking more in. The question is, should it be tighter, which everyone says yes to. It is NOT loose at all like many think.

Lowest temp and second smoke

Since the ninja runs hot, I have been putting the temp at 215 when making my brisket. But the ambient is still 240+. What is the lowest temp I can set this to and still have smoke, or are the 2 independent of each other?

Also, to get a second smoke, is the only way to shut down the grill and restart it? It starts at 5:00 hrs and say I want to add more smoke 90 minutes in. How do I do that? Thanks.

Anybody using Donner throne w motorcycle seat vs. Roc n Soc

Started drumming a year ago w $30 not really adjustable seat. Was looking at a Roc n Soc, but they are $250. Can never find a used one near me.

Then browsing amazon, I saw this from Donner that has adjustable screw post and motorcycle seat. It is about $180 less than Roc n soc and I can also try this out and return it if I don't like it. Anyone have one of these or tried one?

Ambient vs set temp

Smoker set to 220 for a brisket, according to multi sensor probe, inside air temp is 247. I just turned it down to 215. I knew the ninja runs hot, but this is quite a bit more than I expected.

Mopping of travertine tile floors and iRobot

Posting this as I just saw for amazon prime day a iRobot Roomba 105x for $200. I know they are in bankruptcy, but not sure that makes a difference. But not sure if this is a good price or there are better robots available close to this price.

Mostly want to mop tile floors in my apartment. However, I have been using bissel steam mop, and I don't think any robot uses steam, just cleaning solution. I 'think' it is important to use steam, I just use water to go over travertine tile.

Is it worth it to use a robot, or just do this by hand? It usually takes me 30 min I guess, the pita is that I have to unplug and replug in like 5 different spaces.

Which set for intermediate, Yamaha dtx6/Roland Td 07/Alesis Club

Narrowing down my search. Wanting to buy new. Not going to expand or get past this level. Having a tough time picking between these 3. Roland on sale rn for 1k, others are 1.5k. Roland doesn't look to have a 'real' hi hat which is an issue with the Nitro Max I am on now. Anyone play these and can put it in perspective of beginner transitioning to intermediate? (I know if you are playing hours at a time, or in a band these are not what you want).

New R2, real competition for Ioniq5

R2 standard model is 44k, premium is 53k. Sizes are about the same, though R2 is more SUVey, not hatchbackey like Ioniq. But match up well in all things. Rivian doesn't have the network that Kia/Hyundai do, nor the installed base. But I will say that my lease runs out in 18 months and I will be looking if the pricing is still comparable. Or am I missing something?

Water coming out my downspout from tray in the attic?

Air handler etc in the attic. 20 year old system, Trane. They installed a downspout along side of house up to attic to run wires, pipes, etc and also told me that if I see water coming out of the spout next to top of rt shutter, boxed in red, that means water is going into the tray in the attic, and this is not standard.

In the picture showing the bottom of the downspout, there is water coming down it. Third day of 90 deg plus weather. Never noticed this before, is this standard. Or just condensation from wires, refrigerant pipe? Not sure what.

Gastroparesis, maybe/probably?

Posting here as well as zep sub. (writing for close friend who is not too computer literate but is desperate) Been taking tirz for 6 months via vials. Tried this 18 months ago, went from 2.5 up to 15, was on 15 for about 3 months (8 mo total). Didn't feel any effect from the drug up to about 10mg. Even at 15 the only way I lost weight was by dieting really hard, the tirz was no help up to 10 or 12. I lost 20 lbs. Stopped, was just too expensive.

Price came down, started again. Started at 5. Up to 15. Been on 15 for 10 weeks. Same as last time. 1 week ago exactly, ate a power bar for breakfast. Late aft felt queasy. Went out to dinner w friends, couldn't eat. Sun, felt 'off' and queasy. Sun aft started vomiting continously. Went to walk in before they could close, game me some zofran, still vomited, gave script for reglan, sent to ER at community hospital.

They gave an IV, and tried intravenous compazine, but 2 hours later threw up the water. They then gave zofran, 2 hours later, threw up the water. Then inapsine, held down the water, and went home. Mon and Tue drank about 25 oz of water each day without vomiting.

Wed morn felt maybe ok, so tried eating half a bagel. 2 hours later threw that up. 6 hours later I had vomited 8 times, so went back to ER. They gave an IV, zofran and pepcid. threw up the water, so they gave phenegran. That made sleepy and helped. Thu drank 28 oz of gatorade and 8 oz ensure, drinking in small sips. Fri drank 20 oz gatorade and 6 oz ensure, but vomited 3 times, though not that much. Am peeing.

The metoclopamide/reglan does not really help, the phenegran sometimes helps, but only take before bed. still feel queasy all day. have not had solid for now coming up on 1 week, and have only had 600 calories in 6 days, and still feel queasy. am at wits end. The ER visit did blood work both times, all normal. The 2nd ER visit did a CT, all normal.

Haven't had a gastro consult, ER is community hospital. Gave me a gastro to call, but can't get an appt yet. Current plan is to give this a few more days, if improving just ride it out, but if can't hold down 600 calories a day by Tue/Wed (day 10) go back to major ER, get a gastro eval etc/ admit.

Posting here to see what others have experienced and if anyone had this, what they did and what timeframe was. Sorry for the long post, but I thought details would be better.

Simple way to record myself playing edrums and song on computer.

I have searched this, ai'd it but didn't work, so sorry to post another thread about how to use audacity....

I have a laptop with 1 usb port and 1 speaker output. I have a drum module with a line in to listen to music from the computer, audio output (r&l/mon), and headphone output. I have an inexpensive (quanlink) usb sound card with a mic in and headphone out. I want to record a song playing on the computer that I can listen to while I play along with the drums using audacity software. How can I set this up, I want a single mixed track. I am just a beginner, I want to record what I am doing. I have seen 2 tracks but that is much harder for me to time.

I don't have a heaphone splitter right now, which I was going to order. I figured without recording what I do is just take the output of the computer into my drum module input and listen to the song and and my playing via the headphones. I figured my headphones are playing the song & my drumming, so why not just take that output back into the sound card and just record that in audacity. But worried that headphone outputs are very low and I didn't buy a splitter yet. I would think there should be a way to do this without a splitter?

Putting a stove/oven in the basement

I want to convert the basement into a full living space. There is already a bedroom and bathroom walled off. In an open space that is quite large, where the HVAC and electrical box are is plenty of room to make a small kitchen, sink, stove, refrig. This is in MA. I have tried googling this and trying to find code, but don't see anything specific.

Is there any special requirement to have a stove in the basement? Does it need to be vented? Does it need to be a certain distance from the HVAC or electrical? Thanks.

Best sailing angle to destination figured out by my electronics?

I have the speed guide for my boat, a table of wind velocity at each TWA giving boat speed (see attached).

Say I want to goto a point 1 mi directly ahead of me. Assume I can do that at 1kt, it will take me an hour. However, if I bear away, I can go faster. If I bear away 45 deg for 0.5mi, tack and again it is 45 deg to get to the point, I have now gone 1.4mi. If by bearing away I can increase my speed greater than 0.4 kts, I will get there faster.

With this table, if I know how far I am from my destination, the TWA/TWS, and my speed with the wind angle, with some trig and geometry I can figure out my best course. Of course, I don't want to do this, that is what computers are for.

I have a B&G zeus 3 chartplotter and instruments. Is there a way to upload this table, and once it is in there, is there a way if I put in a waypoint that I want to goto, can it give me the best course to sail?

Edrum rec for intermediate

I bought an alesis nitro max a year ago as a beginner. Picked this over the mesh as it had a 10" snare.

I have progressed enough that I would like something that has a hi hat worked via a real pedal, plus some better sounds.

I am NEVER going to get past intermediate. So not looking to spend $2k+ money, but would spend up to 1.5k. Also, dont want to control the set via a computer, want a module. I just want to sit down, turn it on, and play for my 15 to 30 minutes.

I am not sure the Roland low end is worth it, and not sure the higher end is inexpensive enough. Not sure higher end alesis is good enough? Yamaha?

Cleaning the deck w cordless pressure washer?

Thinking about picking up a cordless pressure washer, 600 psi max, (Ryobi 18V, looks like a drill) to clean decks after the winter. I normally use my back and soft bristle brush and then hurt for a few days.

Anyone use a pressure washer, and if so, how did it turn out? also, is 600 psi enough?

Office/publisher

Not sure the flair is correct, more of just a question...

I have setup a few friends doing graphic design work with publisher going back 20+ years. Their entire portfolios are in publisher.

Now that publisher is going away, they are in a terrible position.

I am thinking that if I purchase a copy of office 2019 that still has a standalone version of publisher, they can use this for a bit. Can they install publisher and still have it work with office 365 other apps like word?

Changing from publisher for these people is really traumatic, they know this program inside out, they are not very technical, even when publisher has changed positions on menus or using different keystrokes to do what they used to do made them very upset. Changing to a new program at this point is a nightmare from a learning issue. Not to mention that all their work is in .pub files.

JSX instead for NY to FL?

Just saw this semi private airline https://www.jsx.com/home/search where NY to FL can be ~$500 (if you book a month or 2 out. Otherwise 2x that). I don't know enough about them, but they are not small plane charter, it seems they have regular routes on plane of 25ish people?

With spirit gone, I bet JB will be $300 to $500 for the same flights, so for $200 more, it probably cuts 2 hours off the trip if the airports are convenient.

I wish they had service to New England, don't know if anyone else has this model of using larger jets. Lots of smaller companies using planes with seating under 10 people, but much higher price per person.

Someone should write an app that is like kayak that uses all charter companies and where/when they have seats.

Roc n soc screw thread vs. pneumatic?

Anyone try both the pneumatic lift vs fixed seat post and like one or the other much better? I have read that the pneumatic has some 'bounce' to it, though not sure how much. Most of the office chairs I use these days are pneumatic, but don't really bounce. Though I am not banging around on an office chair...

Semaglutide patent expires in Canada, generic Ozempic available within the month

I know this thread is about tirz and compounding, but GLP-1 loses its patent exclusivity in Canada and 2 companies have said they will have generic available by the end of the month, with 5 other companies expected to have product this year.

If you could get your meds from Canada (and I have no idea if this is difficult to do, have your Dr call it in, I know there is a market for US citizens to get drugs from there), would you move to this product/solution?
