Leach flapping too much when reefed
Was out in 20-22, 34' boat w self tacking jib. Should have had the main furled in another foot or 2, we were a bit over powered. I have vertical battens. My leach line is fairly tight, but as you see in the video the last section of leach behind the last vertical batten is flapping way too much. We are pinching a bit, clearly if I fall off more it flaps less, but we were awa 48deg. The boat should do 40. Maybe I just need to roll up a bit more main so I can sheet in tighter? Or should that leach line be tighter?
To those who are telling me where the leach line is and it is loose, here is an updated post:
Yes. Thanks, I know where the line is and I tightened it some before I took the video. The slack you see on the right side of the loop (if you stop the video) is from me pulling the left side tighter and not opening the flap and tucking more in. The question is, should it be tighter, which everyone says yes to. It is NOT loose at all like many think.
