My last month passive income

Not much but it's fulfilling for me. Didn't spend any money on marketing. Just people found my app on play store and I occasionally post on reddit and TikTok. I built this app for myself to solve my own daily problem in my own way, and now I feel so fulfilled people are even willing to pay and use this app with me. Crazy but thanks!

I built a note-taking app for your lock screen and notification bar

Hi everyone,

I built Zoonote because I got sick of always unlocking my phone and searching for the app every time I needed to do anything with my notes. It particularly sucks when I'm doing my grocery and I had to keep unlocking my phone to go down my shopping list on Google Keep.

Speaking of Google Keep, since I launched last year and kept building features based on user feedback and personal needs, it's grown beyond the lockscreen use case, and it has replaced Google Keep for me. This is my daily driver for note taking now, and it still puts a smile on me when I use it :)

It's got custom labels, color labels, checklists, one-time or recurring reminder, auto sync and one-tap restore, you can create, view and edit your notes directly on lock screen, show images in your notes, speech-to-text, dark mode, (WIP)shared workspace. It's modern, simple, and lightweight (APK size at 1.9MB).

It's also been featured in the ComputerWorld magazine and MakeUseOf website, which was something I'd always dreamed of for something I build!

And Zoonote has no ads, no subscription(might need to introduce it though for the shared workspace feature to cover recurring server cost), no account, no sign-up, no intrusive popups or banner, no user analytics or tracking phoning home. It's 30-day free trial with all features accessible to everyone, then a $9.99 to go Pro forever. This is all just feels right to me and my values.

Anyway, I would love you all to give it a try and let me know what you think to shape this app with me.

How to fix "Unreadable volumes" error on my Seagate One Touch with PW external hard drive?

I'm on windows 11, and it became unresponsive, and task manager couldn't work too, so I had to force shut down my laptop by press and hold the power down while my Seagate hardrive was still connected. And now when I boot it up, my laptop can't detect and connect to the Seagate hard drive anymore. And the Seagate toolkit software is showing "Unreadable Volumes" message.

Any pointers to solve this would be greatly appreciated 🙏

A note-taking app on your lock screen

I'd always wanted to be able to view and edit my notes and todo lists right on my lock screen. Like, I was sick of having to unlock my phone every goddamn time to check my grocery list when doing my grocery. I couldn't find an app like this, so here it is!

Zoonote is packed with essential features:

* Organize with custom and color labels

* Set recurring reminders

* Create checklists

* You can show images in your notes and Todo lists

* Supports speech-to-text

* It has a home screen widget as well

* It automatically back up your notes to your Google drive. And you can restore your stuff on new devices too.

Zoonote is 30-days free trial, then a $9.99 one-time payment to go Pro forever. It has no tracking, no ads, no subscription(although the "shared workspace" I'm building might have to introduce a separate subscription plan to sustain it for those who need it), no sign up required.

Would love you all to check it out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kyw.joonote

I finally built my first app so I can view and edit my notes and todo lists on my lock screen

I couldn't stand it anymore when I'm doing my grocery and I have to unlock my phone every goddamn time to check my grocery list. And I couldn't find an app that can view and edit my notes and Todo lists without unlocking my phone, so I went and build one. Yeah not really an inspiring story but true story nonetheless.

I'm using the app everyday now. It has replaced Google Keep for me. And it's simple, beautiful, fast, lightweight, no tracking, no ads, no sign up, and it's got stuff like labels, reminders, speech-to-text etc.

Anyway check it out and let me know how it is if you want: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kyw.joonote

Thanks!

Troubles applying for restricted Google Drive API OAuth scopes

I have a Android app already live for months. Now I'm building a collaborative feature for it, and I'm hoping I can leverage solely Google Drive APIs for it.

So now I'm applying for restricted OAuth scopes DRIVE or DRIVE.METADATA.READONLY on Google cloud console. But I'm stuck being back and forth with the verification process team between them wanting to see all the permission scopes including the restricted scopes I'm applying for on my oauth consent screen(see image), and me being confused saying how can I show the restricted scopes on the consent screen for them to verify when they haven't approved them?

I have added the restricted scopes in my codes in local build but the oauth screen just says "Google hasn't verified the app" error message. And I can't just deploy this un-approved scopes to production and break existing users oauth flow, right?

So now I'm at a lost how to proceed with the verification team. I think I might have to roll my own backend...

Would love some advise if anyone went through this.
