I needed to add a time conditional to a light sensor trigger automation for 1 hour before sunset to 15 minutes after sunset. This can’t be done in the Apple Home app AFAIK.

I fired up one of my third party HomeKit apps and added the conditional of ‘between 1 hour before sunset and 15 minutes after sunset’. Looked fine, went back to Apple Home and saw that it was shown as a “custom condition”. And critically, it didn’t work. The automation was firing outside those times.

After much trial and error, I discovered the trick: first add just ‘1 hour before sunset’. Save automation. Then add as a separate condition ‘15 minutes after sunset’. Save the automation. Now go check Apple Home and it should show the time conditional correctly.

Important note: if you make any changes to the automation it will ‘break’ again, and you’ll need to remove the time conditional and go through the steps above again.

If, for example, an automation is set up such that when Camera A sees a vehicle it triggers Camera B to record, what happens if Camera B was already recording? Does it interrupt the current recording and make it start a ‘new’ recording? Or is the automation essentially ignored and Camera B just keeps recording?

I’m trying to install the HD solar panel and need to get the battery wand closer to the panel, which means I need to get an extension cable. Does anyone know the barrel size? To clarify, the size of the barrel that connects the wand holder to the shade, not the barrel size of the solar panel plug.

More context: currently running it on an rpi. But it’s running an old version of of the OS and node can’t get beyond 18. So I would have to wipe the card and reinstall and get everything set back up with the homebridge backup.

Or, I’ve got an always on Mac mini running things like Plex. Any reason I shouldn’t consolidate things and just install homebridge 2.0 on the mini?

I want to make sure I’m not overlooking any negatives to running it on the Mac.

I’m already dreading the process of moving to 2.0 so trying to make this as streamlined as possible.

ETA: I’d likely lean towards a native install and not use a VM (to avoid the overhead of VM software).

ETA2: For those that are seeing this latest edit, would you install node 24 or 26? It appears that 24 will soon go into maintenance mode. Does 26 works ok with homebridge 2.0?

I have a handful of Convert to Shortcut automations that use a Get Contents of URL action to trigger a Pushover notification. The automation is triggered based on a physical smart plug turning off. This has stopped working. Other actions within the shortcut work normally, such as turning off other items (using the Control Home action), but the Get Contents of URL action does not. When I test the automation with the play button it works. But when I test by turning on then off the plug, the Get contents of URL action does not appear to trigger. Wonder if anyone could verify if this is OS27 bug or a ‘just me’ bug. Thanks.

All my outdoor cameras are in a room called Exterior. What that means now with OS27 is that I get a lot of notifications indicating activity in Exterior, but without the clarity of which camera and where in Exterior. So I’m starting to rethink my single room for outside. Curious if anyone has already made changes to help make the notifications more clear, and what you ended up doing? I thinking of something like rooms called ‘Front of the House’, ‘Back of the House’, etc. in general I do like the ‘Reduced Notifications’ feature and not quite ready to turn it off.

Nothing revolutionary here but I figured I’d share as it took a few tries to get it right.

The goal: use the light sensor on my FP300 to turn on indoor lights when it drops below XX lux, but only between 2 hours before sunset until sunset.

I used Controller app to create an advanced automation.

Trigger: light sensor drops below XX lux

Conditionals:

• someone is home
• after Sunset minus 2 hours
• before sunset

I use eufy cameras (native HKSV), and eufy’s detection picks up more legitimate events than HomeKit, and when both eufy and HomeKit captures the event, eufy almost always captures it earlier than HomeKit. For those using the *27 beta on their Apple hubs, has there been any improvement in camera event detection?

When searching in the iOS Plex app, search results do not include results from my tuner (DVR feature). I get results from my library, as well as Plex’s free live TV, but nothing from my tuner. It works correctly in the Plex web app. Am I overlooking something, or is this not supported in the app? To add, I do see my guide in the app correctly showing the shows from my tuner, but they do not appear in search results.

I have a use case for a touch-less switch and wondering if anyone has implemented anything like that? Basically wave your hand in front of this sensor to turn something on and wave again to turn it off. It needs to specifically be the wave action and not just the standard broad motion sensing.

I’m wondering if it’s possible to narrow the FOV and shorten the range of a normal motion sensor to achieve this?

If anyone has implemented something like this, I’d love to hear what you did.

Just saw that their client was updated for 3.1 support. Will Firewalla offer AWG server 3.x support in the future?

More generally curious if Firewalla plans to keep up, with some kind of cadence, with AWG development?

ETA: for clarity, my focus is on the built in AWG server, but as another person mentioned, the built in client support also needs to keep up with latest AWG development

Under VPN Client -> Apply To, show any selected client at the top of the list. Just makes it easier to see which are selected instead of having to scroll to find them.

It’s not critical, I use multiple VLANs as a workaround, but just curious why PPSK support was skipped?

For those that have been using this plug specifically outdoors, has it held up to the elements? And how has it performed in general?

I’m referring to the top level VPN Client screen and not a VPN Group. I have a growing list and it would be nice to be able to sort by name. I don’t think this is possible but wanted to see if I’m overlooking anything. Thanks.

Some context: I bought a 2 pack kit of S3 Pros that included a HB3, Set them up, both using multi bridge. All good, working great in eufy and Apple Home.

The issue: I bought two more S3 Pros and added them to the HB3, both using multi bridge. So, four S3 Pros, all using multi bridge. Within a couple of days, all four camera were no response in Apple Home. Rebooted the HB3, they all came back. Within a couple of days, no response in Apple Home again. This kept happening over and over. If there was a lot of activity on the cameras, they could go no response within a day in Apple Home. (Side note: no issues in the eufy app)

Debugging: for testing, I have removed two of the S3 Pros from multi bridge and have them close enough to use direct connection to the HB3. I’m now on day 4 and all is still good in the Apple Home app. But I continue to test with this setup. After a few more days I will add back one to multi bridge and see what happens

So this is where I am now. Still testing, but my theory is that the HB3 can’t handle Apple Home and four S3 Pros using multi bridge. I did testing using a second HB3 to see if I had a problematic HB3, and the exact same thing happened. So I’m fairly certain it’s an HB3 issue and not a defective unit.

Not sure if anyone else has this same situation with four S3 Pros using multi bridge and Apple Home, but wanted to share my experience.

ETA: adding some additional info

• the HB3 is using Ethernet
• the Apple home hub is an Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen using Ethernet. Also tested with HomePod mini as primary hub, issue still present.

Along the lines of the Aqara G2H Pro, G100, Tapo C125. Eufy used to have something but they stopped making it. Any recommendation from the above, or another similar form factor camera you’d recommend? Thanks.

There seem to be a few CarPlay compatible options in the App Store nowadays. Any recommendation for the ‘best’ one?

Only the panel that came with it, and the 3w version I bought from eufy on eBay properly report charging info and show the little solar panel icon. My older micro usb panel and another third party do not.

Are there any usb c solar panels that properly report or is eufy using something proprietary in their newer panels?
