Bought a Mod HMT Pilot Racer
I was very much intrigued to buy a HMT mechanical watch. Found this on Watch it move. Great watch, feels new tbh. Loved the exhibition case. 💯

Happy Independence Day! A tribute to all the Jawans who gave so much for our country.
For no particular reason, 7-Eleven egg salad sandwiches in Japan last year went viral worldwide, and I heard they're available in the US this year. I saw one today at a 7-Eleven, I'm not in 7-Elevens very often, so I bought it, (along with some lottery tickets for tonight's $1 billion dollar drawing) it to try it. I take it home and open it up to look at it and it's about as plain as you would expect it to be, what looks like a quality egg salad on quality spongy white bread. So I did what any fish-blooded r/CannedSardines member would do to make it better... I put sardines on it. Pretty good with a bit of pepper and hot sauce.
Opened up a can of spiced mackerel, flavor was great, but it ended up putting my paws on everything. Went with cream cheese on flatbread, but had to grab the capers by hand and stick them into the cream cheese. And for the mackerel, I don't mind bones and things intend to fish it doesn't freak me out, but I prefer just a straightforward filet, so I dig out the spine and anything else with my finger which only takes a few moments. So I've got my hands knee deep and mackerel tin olive oil and my fingers soaking in capers brine, and smashing into some cream cheese, then sticking the mackerel fillets into the cream cheese. Yes I wash my hands before and after.
I really enjoy the color on this not sure what to call this color, pale green?
Fun manual wine HMT with a yellow aftermarket dial
Watch of the Day: 1979 Gold-Plated HMT Pramod (Ref. 2092) with a Deep Sunburst Dial
Got this NOS (New Old Stock) beauty in the mail yesterday, and I couldn't be happier with how it looks in person! Wanted to share a few shots including a peek at the mechanical movement.
The Details & Verification:
Model: HMT Pramod
Origin: Made in India by Hindustan Machine Tools
Production Year: 1979. The case back code reads 2092 737 32-79, with the 79 confirming its build year. The blue factory sticker is even still intact on the case back!
Dimensions: A classic 35.8mm case width, 41mm lug-to-lug, and a standard 20mm lug width that makes strap changes super easy.
Dial: Dark grey-green sunburst with gold-toned stick markers and a fluted bezel that gives off some serious mid-century Datejust vibes. The bottom of the dial is stamped INDIA 82-209006, which perfectly maps to the 2092 case layout.
Movement: Authentic hand-wound HMT Caliber 0231 (17 jewels, derived from the Citizen 0201 design). Opened the back up to verify, and the main bridge features the period-correct factory hmt 17J. stamping.
Bracelet: Period-correct gold-plated jubilee bracelet with folded steel links and the classic blocky hmt logo stamped on the clasp.
Overall, a 100% authentic, non-franken vintage piece of Indian horological history that's keeping great time out of the box!
What’s on everyone else's wrist today?
Surprisingly good I will definitely do this again, probably with a fancy tinned spicy tuna next time
With much encouragement from postings on this subreddit, I sauteed some Porthos spicy sardines in their own oil, put the oil in a small pot, diced garlic and shallots, some capers, put in the sardines, did not mash them but broke them up a bit lengthwise, added some capers brine at some point for a bit more liquid, then put them on toasted sourdough slices, then put some grated Italian cheese on the Open face sandwich while it was still hot. Had one of them with a bit of hot sauce on it. Not particularly photogenic but including images anyway, it was really good, wouldn't hesitate to saute sardines again if I'm in the mood for that.
Honestly cannot think of a better field watch for the money. Mechanical wind makes you feel constantly interact with this watch and over time you feel connected to it in a way beyond quartz or automatic. The dial is stunning (get it without faux patina) and so legible. Goes with any strap and any outfit. The perfect watch imo
This is a unique watch even for the aftermarket world with its pink dial. It does have an HMT movement.
Got this franken/aftermaket hmt
Case is hmt jawahar
Movement is hmt 0231 (checked)
Dial is hmt jawan or repainted.
Got it for 520₹ including generic leather strap and new spring bars.
Overall solid watch and i really like the design.
(P.s i am not a watch enthusiast but really like old vintage watches.)
the sporty dial on it so clean to me. the watch itself is so clean and works well but the movement probably needs some tlc. going to experiment with some straps and bracelets😁😁
I find this to be an interesting dial face, with the visible markers being listed as minutes, and the hour markers being much smaller and subtle in red on the interior circle. It takes a few moments to get the hang of reading it, but this is ideal if you are in need of timing things with the red seconds sweep hand as it sweeps around.
Interesting dial, easy to read, runs great, likely has an HMT mechanism running the show
I like the simplicity of this aftermarket dial, very legible and fun colors, particularly the red, which was hard to find even as an aftermarket color. All three run great, as best I can tell all three have an HMT mechanism.
Love smoke sardines, though I threw everything on to these open face sardine sandwiches that I could think of including mashed avocado capers Italian seasoned jalapeno slices, so there's a lot going on here
