Looking for allergists that offer drops and not just shots
I’ve been shopping for allergists to get allergy drops. Since they aren’t FDA approved they aren’t covered by insurance.
I went to a place in Richmond that would have cost $250 for a 3 month supply but I got bad vibes from them. (see below)
Yesterday I went to Allergy Partners here and their drops are $120 for a 1 month supply.. they also said I might need 2 bottles since they can’t mix certain allergens together, which would cost twice as much, unless I want to pick and choose which allergens to have drops for.
Trying to see if I can find any cheaper options locally but I might just give up on this idea if I can’t.
(end of post if you don’t want to read about the Richmond place)
The issue i had with Richmond Breathe Free:
I don’t know how to say this without sounding like an asshole but I just got the vibe they’re not competent medical professionals.
I opted to do skin prick testing as opposed to blood testing, since it’s the gold standard. I went off my antihistamines for a week. I felt TERRIBLE for a week. Nausea and headaches from the withdrawal. Then I drive all the way there to do the skin test and this girl who seems to be no older than 20 does the prick test, and says I reacted to the negative control glycerin, so they can’t use the results and need to do the blood test instead. The entire week was a waste of time and suffering because you don’t need to stop antihistamines for the blood test. I asked them why they use glycerin instead of saline for the negative control, and the doctor admitted that saline has less skin reactions but couldn’t give me a straight answer on why they use glycerin.
They also gave me a 3D CT scan of my sinus that I didn’t ask for, and sprayed Afrin to look in my nose which gave me a sore throat. I didn’t ask for that either. They just all gave me the vibes that they don’t know what they’re doing
