Supplier question

So I am not a machinist but I am looking to buy aluminum and stainless steel rods and maybe some other stuff for some projects I have been thinking about. Where is a good place to buy these (or general metal goods) online? I don't trust amazon

Thanks!

Does anyone know why Makemkv can't get a good host? Why do they continually have hosting issues?

It seems like this is a pretty regular thing, are they just not paying their bill? or are they trying to host on bad hardware? Does anyone have a better idea of the cause?

Can anyone recommend any "normal" youtube players?

So most factorio youtube channels seem to be expert level deep dives into weird mechanics/optimizations (nilaus is a prime example)

Does anyone know any good factorio youtubers who are just ordinary slobs like me? People that just have a good time bumbling their way through the game

Not so much looking for long unedited lets play videos, but well made videos where entertainment is more important than constructing the perfect build

Thanks

Opinions: Do you move your research to vulcanus (or gleba) for the cheap resources? Or do you stay on nauvis and transport the science packs there?

Opinions: When you go to other planets, do you make a bus or go right to bot automation? Or a hybrid of both?

I am curious what other people do

That Moment ...

You start a new game. You forgot how much manual work it is in the beginning. You have all kinds of blueprints to make your life easier, but it is a long grind to gather and place all that stuff by hand. So you grind. You fight off biters by hand. So annoying, maybe next time you should do peaceful mode. You run around gathering resources by hand. You watch your tiny little coal patch run out. Then your iron patch. You run around and build a new mining base. Your base is all planned out but it just takes so much time to do it all yourself.

Finally, you get there: you research flying robot frames. You build a dozen construction robots and a couple roboports and BOOM. Like a huge weight has been lifted off you, the little bots fly around so slowlly but they are finishing your blueprints and its like the clouds part and the sun shines on the little patch of dirt you have been working and you hear little robot angels singing. All of a sudden you can get to doing what you want and let the bots do the grunt work.

And in that moment, you remember why you love this fucking game.

Is there any way to adjust multipoint prioritization?

I have 3 devices which use bluetooth multipoint: tv, computer, phone. The tv takes priority over the other 2 even though it is not playing any media. How can I set the priority of the tv to be lower so that it is not forcing the other 2 devices to be silent?

How risky is downgrading kernel verions?

I have a bug with 7.0.0.22 in Kubuntu and it is annoying enough that I am thinking of downgrading since the bug does not seem to be a high priority for the devs.

How much of a risk is downgrading for someone with novice level skills? What do I need to know that is not in the downgrade tutorials?

Is anyone else having trouble finding nighttime eye gel?

I use the water based, thick gel with hypromellose at night, not the petroleum/mineral oil ointment. I have not been able to find any in at least 2 months. Is anyone else having this problem or do you have any info on why this particular item is in short supply? It appears to be all brands

Thanks

I am sorry if this is a dumb question, I am new to this sub.

I am looking for a completely unlocked eink tablet. I want to install Kubuntu (or some other linux flavor) onto it. It doesn't need to have a lot of horsepower, I just want to use it for books, note-taking, maybe light web browsing.

I bought a Kobo reader about 8 or so years ago and I was immediately disappointed in how neutered it was. It is completely on rails and you can only use it the way the company wants you to use it.

What should I be looking for as far as features? Is it possible to make your own like a home computer, i.e. picking individual components?

Thanks for any advice!

I am on Kubuntu 25. I would like to use libre writer for keeping a journal. I would like to be able to start writing immediately without having to write the date and time as a header and I would like it to automatically name the filename to the current date and time. I want to be able to just type and not think about organization. Is there a way to easily do that?

Also, separate question, but are there any speech to text options for LWriter which work locally?

Thanks very much
