Baby’s first team wipe!
Started playing about a week or two ago. Not that impressive, but considering I was lagging badly, I’m pretty happy :)

By new, I mean that I started playing OW2 three days ago, so please bear with me.
Are they wrong? Should I stick with my team and DM like a crazy person?
I only cry about once or twice a year, if that, and my friends think that’s odd. Curious to see what the average is.
The person I was going to move to Champaign with just withdrew, which means everything I had set up is no longer viable. I know I should’ve had a backup plan, but I didn’t, so this is where I am now.
Preferably, I’d like a stupid cheap, one bedroom studio apartment. My only requirement is that it has a kitchen, good air conditioning, and no bug problems. Everything else, I can deal with. Being further from campus is fine, so long as there’s buses. I’d like to move there as early in August as possible.
I have both autism and ADHD, so traditional dorming unfortunately wouldn’t work for me. I need my own space. If *absolutely* necessary, I can deal with roommates, but considering it keeps backfiring and going to shit, I’d really rather not.
How fucked am I? Please offer any and all suggestions. I’m so overwhelmed right now.
ETA: I’m an incoming transfer student with enough hours to not live on campus.
I recently switched from Concerta to Vyvanse, and while I was prepared for many of the side effects, I wasn’t prepared to be this bored.
While I have the ability to actually start my hobbies, they start boring me after a few minutes. It’s not necessarily an ADHD understimulation boredom - just plain boredom. Everything is meh.
I don’t have a history of depression, so I don’t think that’s it. Even so, I kind of just want to go back to bed so I don’t have to figure out how to fill my day. I’ve slept too much already, though, so I’m not letting myself do that. Time passes so slowly when I’m not blind to it…
Does anyone have any tips on how to combat this feeling?
Edit: Consensus seems to be that this isn’t working. Which sucks, considering Concerta just sent me into hyperfixation spirals! I’ll see if I can up my dose, and hopefully, that’ll fix it.
I’m specifically curious about the difference between the two medications, and this community’s experience with them.
Concerta worked for a while… until it very much didn’t. When I upped it to 54mg, it made it so I couldn’t sleep, and would hyperfocus on video games for 12-18 hours at a time. Obviously, that wasn’t ideal, so my psychiatrist prescribed me 20mg of Vyvanse.
Already, I suspect this isn’t a high enough dosage. I can tell that it kicked in due to my hunger going away, but i don’t have motivation—all I want to do is lay in bed and play word games.
Primarily inattentive ADHD.
I have a fairly severe case of Prosopagnosia. I couldn’t consistently recognize my parents until middle school, and even as an adult, I often question myself. This has obviously led to quite a few issues in my day to day life.
One of the most petty (and annoying) issues I have is my inability to watch live-action movies or TV shows. I literally cannot tell one character from another, no matter how hard I try, or how recently they appeared. It makes the experience miserable for myself and whoever is unfortunate enough to watch with me, as I constantly have to ask who people are.
I’d love a software that helped me with identifying people across scenes. Even something as simple as a thin, differently-colored bar above each character (that’s consistent across scenes) would help. I know nothing about programming, but I imagine this wouldn’t be too difficult to make a plugin for, what with the number of facial recognition softwares available.
I’ve been taking 54mg for a while, but lately, I’ve been dealing with bad side effects, such as insomnia, a weird feeling behind my eyes, and a lack of hunger.
In hindsight, I should’ve realized this is too high of a dose way sooner, but it literally just clicked. In my defense, 54mg was fine for months, and I don’t know why my body is throwing a fit now.
It’s 9PM. My body is tired, but it feels like my eyes are taped open, even though I took my medicine at 9AM. Is there anything I can do to try to make this wear off? Melatonin and Benadryl won’t touch it (believe me, I tried other nights!) and I really, really need to sleep tonight. I can’t brute-force sleep when I’m like this, because then I get so bored I want to cry.
Help me. Please.
I’m currently chugging lemonade in hopes the citrus gets it, but I don’t think it’s going to work.
Update: Lemonade didn’t work. I’m so bored. Sorry for being that weird OP that replies to everything, but that’s how bored I am.
I haven’t read for months.
I can feel my brain degrading in my skull. My writing and trains of thought are less smooth. I need to pick up a damn book, but I can’t find any that interest me. PLEASE, I am BEGGING you all to help me!
I enjoy horror, fantasy, and speculative fiction. Romance is fine, but I don’t like TikTok romantasy type books. I prefer more “challenging” reads (think prose that verges on purple) than ones I can devour in one sitting.
Some of my favorites include:
* I Who Have Never Known Men
* Deerskin
* Between Two Fires
* This is How You Lose the Time War
* The Spear Cuts Through Water
* Martyr!
Been on Lexapro for about a year and a half, and I’ve been singing its praises ever since. I know a lot of people are scared to try it, so I thought I’d share how it helped me today.
Today, I went in for a job interview at a gas station. I’d worked at the franchise four years ago, when I was sixteen; but that was in a town an hour away, so I was fully expecting to go in with nobody knowing me.
Nope.
The hiring manager was the exact one that’d hired me when I was sixteen. Because of this, I was expecting her to be harsher on me, since I wasn’t the best worker back then. But that couldn’t be further from the reality!
Even though this was a situation that would’ve caused me to panic pre-Lexapro, I kept my cool and answered the questions to the best of my ability. To my surprise, it wasn’t long until she started gushing about how much I’d come out of my shell! She talked about how much I’d clearly grown up, how shy I used to be, and how I wasn’t able to talk like this before.
At the end of the interview, she all but handed me the job, saying it was a pleasure to see how much I’ve changed and that she’ll be in contact regarding scheduling.
Thank Lexapro!! 😭
I live in a small town, without commuting options, and desperately need a job over the summer. My options are (obviously) extremely limited.
But what’s making this a hellish process is my autism. I may be at a Level 1, but loud noises, especially for long periods, are my kryptonite. Factory jobs and most fast food restaurants aren’t options because of that, and that’s practically ALL my town offers. That, or they’re places that attract incredibly conservative customer bases (Home Depot or Cracker Barrel).
I have an English degree, which isn’t useless in towns with more to do, but is VERY useless here. I’m going to lose my shit. There isn’t even a damn strip club to use as a fallback.
Weird question, but I’m curious.
Every woman I know randomly plays with her boobs sometimes. It’s not in a sexual way—it’s just that there happens to be built-in stress toys attached to our torsos. It’s like how people play with squishies or whatever.
Now, I’m not into men, so I haven’t touched anyone’s balls, nor do I have any intention of doing so. I have no clue what the texture is like, or if it’d hurt to play with them, so humor me here. Is that a thing men do?
I’m in a bit of a burn-out/depression right now after graduating from college, and I need my meds adjusted. That’s making this even worse.
My room desperately needs cleaned. There’s not a mold or bug problem, but I’m running out of surfaces to put my drinks on. However, cleaning my room always takes a lot of energy out of me, and I need to be in a good mood in order to do it. But I *can’t* be in a good mood until I get up and clean my room. But I can’t clean my room because I’m not in a good mood.
It’s a vicious cycle. I hate ADHD so much.
For context, I’m usually a very calm person. I’m not very emotional, I don’t raise my voice, etc. I can be a bit sarcastic, maybe, but it’s usually not mean spirited. I (allegedly) mask extremely well.
But once every 2-4 years, without fail, I go apeshit. Something TINY will set me off, and suddenly, I’ll be screaming my head off, sobbing, hyperventilating, ripping random clothes, and generally losing it. Literally nothing anyone says can snap me out of it. If it weren’t for me passing out from the hyperventilating, I think I would’ve destroyed the world during a meltdown by now.
In the least edgy way possible, whatever comes out during a meltdown is NOT me. I’ll say horrible things that I don’t even mean. I’ll bring up every slight that’s occurred since the last meltdown, in perfect detail, even if I usually couldn’t care less. It’s truly something else. I’ve heard about others learning how to calm themselves down during these, but mine don’t happen enough for that to be effective.
I’m curious to see if there’s anyone else that has these sorts of meltdowns. They’re rare, but holy shit, they’re BAD. It’s been a few years since my last one, and I can feel the pressure inside me reaching its limit. I had to have the oh-so-fun conversation with my roommate of “Hey, if I start freaking the fuck out, please leave the apartment so I don’t say something awful to you.” and PRAY that he isn’t the one to set it off.
I’ve had my fair share of mental health issues, mainly anxiety and depression, both directly and indirectly influenced by my neurodiversity.
Whenever I’m in a particularly bad spell, everyone around me tells me to “Think positively! Talk nicely to yourself!” or something along those lines.
This entire time, I’ve assumed that’s dismissive bullshit to make me stop talking. Why would saying something to myself help? I can say a whole bunch of things, but that doesn’t make it true.
Nope. Apparently, that actually helps most neurotypicals.
My college had a mental health speaker the other day. The main way she copes with her emotions is by leaving positive notes around her apartment, and a lot of other students said that some variation of that had genuinely helped them in the past.
On one hand—well, at least people weren’t being dismissive toward on purpose. But on the other—what the hell? If I miss one day of Lexapro, or have a bad masking day, I’m just fucked. Not much I can do about it. But they can apparently magic (some amount) of stability into existence???
I probably should’ve figured this out sooner, but I’m shocked nonetheless. We’re really living life on hard mode 😭
Since I (F20, LV1) have both autism and ADHD, it’s difficult to pinpoint what’s causing these symptoms, but I *think* it’s the autism.
I’m almost finished with my second year of college. I’m stressed out about financials, my remaining assignments, everything. I think that + the general burden of being autistic led to me burning out.
I have no motivation for anything—not even my hobbies. I have no patience, and get annoyed when anyone talks to me. My room is a MESS. I’m usually good at writing, but right now, I’m struggling to string together words in a way that isn’t confusing. I get overwhelmed much easier. My anxiety is getting bad again, even though I’m medicated.
AND I’M SO. FUCKING. TIRED. No, sleeping doesn’t help with this.
I kind of need to get over this quickly. I’m in debt, and I need to find a summer job to help pay that off. I transfer to my dream school next semester, and I want to do well. But all I want to do is lay in bed, in complete silence, maybe playing Wordle on occasion.
Does anyone have any tips for overcoming minor burnout in a timely manner?
ETA: I forgot to mention that I don’t have a major special interest/hyperfix right now, which makes this difficult.
Over the years, I’ve learned how to cope with many overstimulating situations, to the point where I can function normally in many. However, there’s some places in particular that never fail to send me into a shutdown…
So many children. And they’re all screaming. And it smells like shit. And nobody has any spacial awareness. All I ever want is to look at the birds, but without fail, there’s somebody nudging me out of the way.
I’ve only been here once, but oh my god. Never again. Crowded, everyone’s yelling (even the workers!), and that damn beaver stares at you from every t-shirt, delighting in your misery. The food was good, but it’s not worth it. Nothing’s worth it. I couldn’t function for a day afterward.
I’m curious to know other people’s experiences.
I remember making a whole bunch of jokes the day before I turned twenty about how I’d develop a wrinkle the second the clock struck midnight, how tired I’d be, how I’d suddenly have back pain, etc.
I was right on the last two. What the hell, karma? It’s like a switch flipped.
I used to pull all-nighters without any trouble, without feeling exhausted the next day, but now I need eight or more hours of sleep to think in a straight line. If I sit the wrong way for too long, my entire body hurts for the rest of the day. I feel sick if I eat nothing but junk food (which is expected, but dammit, I was immune before).
How long do I have before I can predict the weather with joint pain? Before I talk about how things were back in my day? 😭
