in what context can you use the word "dude" when talking to a female and would you use it even?

edit: bc i saw a lot of comments about it i didn't really know that the word "female" is not the right word to use.

i em really sorry and i am not native english speaker!

first i wanted to use girls...changed to women and then somehow to female cus i thought it would be nicer or more professional.

it was not at all to be rude so sorry if it is the wrong word. i didn't know there is a difference even.

i unftly can not change the title.

or is it rude to say that to a woman?

is everything crystal like on some level?

i don't know if this is the right sub but can you say that everything in existence has some kind of crystal structure, or at least behaves crystal like at a super tiny level?

i mean literally everything. organic, inorganic, solids, liquids, gases, all the matter we know in the universe down to atoms and smaller.

like water: it forms crystals when it freezes, and when it warms up that structure gets weaker until it’s gone. But matter doesn’t just disappear, so does that structure still exist somehow but in a different form when it’s liquid or gas and we just can’t see it? still crystals but not solid crystals as we know?

And if not, what actually is happening there? Why do crystals form at all? why those shapes and not just spherical or cubical like structures or something else? and what happens when that structure collapses?

geneology question

hey there,

i wonder if someone knows how that geneology thing works. especially when they sending you the results where you find something like:

85% human, 10% zebra, 4.8% snail and 1.2% bubblegum.

is that the absolute content of your dna and the info is 100% there like it's on the paper or are these just probability values and you actually have nothing to do with the rest of whats there other than the highest value?

was ist eure meinung dazu?

searchbar in file selecting/saving dialog

debian13 - gnome48 - waylande - nautilus

for years now everytime i try to download or save something and try to give it a name, it writes in the search box and i have to manually click the name bar again.

now i found out if i don't click on anything while the window is appearing, the focus stays on the name bar.

but this shouldn't be that way i think, bc ppl click with the mouse on where they want to save the file or change the folder, or i am doing something wrong here. i don't know.

but why would ppl even want the search box popping up like that when typing anything in that window? if it is nautilus or the filemanager alone i could understand. bc someone trying to search for something. but not on the file saving window.

is that wanted from nautilus/gnome devs that way? does someone has a fix without changing the file manager or is there a better alternative to gnomes default file manager nautilus?

zoom/scroll problem in image search tab

someone has the same problem? even i noticed it for years today it bugged me the most.

when i have 2 windows open on a fhd display, and use the search images tab in firefox, with 100% zoom level it doesn't fit at all. when setting the zoomlevel to 90% the window fits perfect.

but shouldn't it be that way on 100% zoom? and what or where exactly is the problem?

update not possible with ui 8.5

i debloated my phone with canta and shizuku.

but since they changed how the phone is updating, put a completely useless screen to it with fancy colors and stuff, putting things in between easy going just makes things so much more harder for really no reason at all.

as soon as i open the update menu it says connecting to service.... error connection not possible.

even i tried to put stuff back what could be related to that issue, it doesn't work.

is there another way to update a phone or do we have to swallow as anything else they give us?

nicht identifizierbares Geräusch in der Wand

guten Abend,

<HELP> canta s23+ removed something important can't undo

i hope someone can help me out here. usually i debloat my phone to the core when resetting my phone.

i use canta with shizuku. so actually there should be a workaround for that crap but first my problem.

i disabled an important package thats responsible for wifi. networkmanager i believe. not only that. unfrtntly shizuku stops functioning without a wifi connection cus of wifi debugging and that is so "aarrrrgghhh". and no canta with no shizuku...no shizuku with no wifi debugging...and bc wifi doesn't function i can't enable wifi debugging...so no shizuku...therefore there is no canta to undo that crap!

that happend to me again one time a few month earlier. i had to flash the os with a notebook and that cost me so much time and energy it was def no fun.

why is there not a easy workaround?

are there others with the same experience?

what could shizuku/canta devs do better in order to prevent that from happening cus i am pretty pretty sure there are so many ppl on earth without proper equipment, proper wifi connections, enough knowledge how to fix things by themselfs even by watching videos of others doing things, then fkn something up and trying to finde someone who can fix their devices again.

them ppl telling the story of aladdin and jasmin and charging them hundreds of dollars and ppl fall for that sht for real man. and then bc they are scared of it happenig again they never ever even come near freedom again.

that really can't be the thing by removing one thing to have to put the phone thru my whole digestive system before being able to use it again. last time it took almost 4 hours to get to the point again and it's just frustrating.

disable all permissions at ones for a app

s23+ - a16 - ui8.5 - latest update - germany

it's a thing that bugs me fore years now. kinda like the thing with the disable camera or microphone bs. it's not only a click like on any other quick setting to enable or disable things but there is always the popup that shows up, asking you if you are too dumb and clicked by accident or you are just a little bit too dumb. but not only that. there is a surprise premium gift for you every single time you click either on mic or cam. who knows knows.

so no disabling just by clicking one time only. swipe quick panel down -> click on disable cam -> new popup click ok -> now you are out of quick panel cuz why should they make it easy on you right:) -> so swipe again -> click on mic disable -> click click clickadee fak fiki fik fok!

does someone know a app for managing permissions where i can disable it at once for multiple apps or change that quickpanel mic and cam bs thing to just one click only? i would appreciate it so much!

and a honest questions. do you think, they are doing that on purpose and talking about it for hours in their beefings and meatings?

duhbelyu troubleyu

let's try to make life a little easier by talking about it.

i will use the most recent example i came across a little too often.

the character "W". in any language we would vocalize and speak characters as they are. like "w"e "w"ould in here.

for example the car company BMW. doesn't it sound a little odd to your ear and even pronouncing it like BMdabelyou? i know there is already a character V and that you just can't add a second character that sounds almost exactly like that.

but wouldn't it be a lot easier if you would say V as in Vocal as it is already and W as in We or Work. saying it like VE a little sharper and WE a little softer so you know it's doubleyou? that little nuance is obvious enough to not confuse both of themand it's so much more comftable, short and easy as any other character in the alphabet.

who even decided that humans should pronounc a character like a special burger in a big burger chain? wouldn't humans evolve and change in the direction of efficiency and easyness?

would you change it if you had the power and ability and if not, why wouldn't you? i would appreciate your honest opinion:)

is there a faster and better way to reverse search thru your commands history than ctrl+r?

i every now and then look for a tool that gives me more or better options than just hitting ctrl+r and let it show me the first fit in my history.

cuz sometimes i need more than only the first or best fit like maybe a popup window showing the last 10 commands that fit my search or let me adjust all of it's parameters like let it sort by names or times or only look for commands i typed in the last month or only with certain words at the start or end like excel or other filtering tools for large databases.

is there even something like that for a terminal in linux? it would be so helpful if there were such a tool on board or something that comes close to a search engine like thing.

do you guys even use ctrl+r or is the up arrow key enough for you to go thru your last used commands and how useful would a more advanced search tool be?
