this is probably really dumb sounding, but i have an irrational fear of heat lamps and uvb lamps and things like that, because im scared they will start a fire. i dont know why my brain thinks that will happen because im perfectly fine leaving a regular lamp on all day, but theres not really any reasoning with my dumb brain. i know that limits me from ever getting a reptile or amphibian.
im just wondering if there are possibly ANY species that dont need a heat source, uvb lamp, or anything else with cords leading to their enclosure like a filter or something. i live in new york state for reference so it gets hot and cold here but my house is kept at 60-70 degrees
or should i just stick to isopods? 😔 (please dont be rude about this, i know its dumb. i would never get an animal i cant provide for so i wont deprive a snake or something of uvb and heat. dont worry)

we got marnie in march. she was DEFINITELY taken from her mom too early but i had no control over it :( she was super tiny when we got her so i think she was like 5-6 weeks old
shes always been obsessed with my dog toby and loves to cuddle with him and play with him. she will start grooming him which he doesnt mind, but then she starts to suckle on him. its usually his arms but shes not picky. like shes not hungry and not looking for milk, i KNOW its a soothing behavior/comfort thing. but toby gets really mad at her for it and will growl at her, so i usually have to separate them.
she doesnt do it to any of our other cats. ive tried redirecting her with playing, petting, cuddling, giving her a blanket that smells like toby, spraying her with water, pulling her away from him, etc. but she will just come back and do it again until i make her leave the room or hiss at her (which makes her get scared off and i feel really bad)
i dont want to teach her that shes not allowed to cuddle with him, but its like EVERY TIME she sees him and i dont want toby to be uncomfortable

my birthday party this year is gonna be goblin/gnome/forest themed. im turning 29 and were all going to be wearing gnome caps and were going to draw our goblin name from a hat that we have to use for the whole party. im going for cozy whimsy and its going to be the end of summer
i just cant decide what i want for food. since its my birthday, my family lets me choose whatever food and cake i want. for my cake i was thinking a black forest cake (chocolate with cherries) with chocolate frosting and crumbled green cake crumbs on top to look like moss and mud, and maybe some gummy bugs or something.

my dog toby is a cocker spaniel and i love him so much! i wanted to make him into a build a bear so he could come with me everywhere
i bought a secondhand barkleigh and dyed them black, and changed the eyes to match tobys one blue eye and one brown eye. i shortened the babs tail to match tobys nub, and i also left him a patch of gold fur on his elbow to match tobys somatic mutation!
i sadly couldnt get tobys merle color or white chest onto the build a bear, but the way the black fur shines in the light makes it look like he is merle sometimes. i think he turned out super cute!! 💙
im writing a fantasy story and i want the main character to have diabetes like me. but obviously they wont have technology like we do (its like medieval times), so no pumps or cgms or even insulin. but i dont want it to be the main part of the story so i dont want it to be a huge hassle, i just want it to be included if possible.
even though they dont have technology, they will have magic, and mages can cast runes onto people or items. for example, they wont have fridges, but a mage can cast an ice rune on a box and create an ice box/fridge substitute.
im just trying to think of what kind of rune a mage could cast onto the character to make her pancreas work LOL
any ideas? (also i know this idea is dumb, please be kind)
