Advice on skylights for a small room: one or two?

We’re having our roof redone and would like to install skylights in some rooms in the process. This particular room does have a window but based on location, doesn’t get a whole lot of lot of light and looks drab during the day. We’ve settled on a skylight with a rough cut of 17.5” x 33.5”. It wouldn’t require rafters to be cut and with that extra permits.

My question is, would one skylight in the center look awkward or is two running side by side, parallel to one another overkill?

The ceiling the skylight(s) will be installed on is 10” x 6” whereas the overall floor size of the room is 11.25” x 10”.

These are pictures of the room.

This is the skylight.

Two tickets to the OC Fair

I entered into the culinary competition to the OC Fair and didn’t win anything. I’m not looking to make a profit, just help cover *some* of the cost of my overhead for entry fees and ingredients.

These tickets are good for any day of the week, weekends included.

Two tickets for $25.

Interesting splits for Kyle Tucker

Tucker is doing better post-ASB but what’s really troubling and interesting is the stark difference between his stats away from Dodger Stadium this season. Even for his career if the baseline is 15 games, his performance at Dodger Stadium is 2nd worst amongst all stadiums. It’s like he needs to be platooned when he plays at Chavez Ravine/Uniqlo Field.

I hope he turns around those splits, especially if this team gets home field advantage. If he decides he needs to get his stats up to career norms by season’s end, he’s basically playing at unheralded MVP numbers until the end of September. It’d be nice but unrealistic.

2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Fuel Door won’t close

I’m not exactly sure what happened, but a family member said that they accidentally hit something with the fuel door closed resulting in it ultimately not closing properly.

Some things I notice when I took pictures:

  1. The outside of the fuel door is catching or scraping the car’s body which I think means the hinge and/or door is bent or out alignment.

  2. The inside hook of the fuel door isn’t catching a clip on the actuator (I think that’s what it’s called). The piece that holds it in place is loose anyhow.

Just looking at the anatomy of the fuel door.p, Toyota really made this a bear to work with as the hinge is recessed, the riveted deeper inside the car’s body.

Does anyone have any advice on parts and a process of how I could go about fixing this. The fuel door currently just stays ajar. It’s not wide open but just barely touches the car’s body to close.

Has anyone tried the m18 cordless paint atomizer?

I’ll be needing to paint a sloped ceiling and flat closet ceiling for the first time (133sqft total) and thought a paint sprayer would help. I already have batteries for the M18 system. I checked. Milwaukee’s website but didn’t see it offered although it is available on eBay, unless it’s counterfeit (?). Did Milwaukee phase it out because I only saw the multiple gallon backpacks available on the official website.

Question about chinois strainers

I’m looking to purchase a strainer to remove blueberry seeds. I was suggested a fine mesh chinois (I hope this is the correct size). One glaring difference between models is the presence of a bottom “guard” (at least that’s what I’m calling it). Is it supposed to be its own stand while straining? It doesn’t seem sturdy enough, especially with product inside. Both chinois have hooks on the outer rim to attach to bowls. What does the four point guard do? The difference in price is over $20. So I’m trying to figure out if I’m missing out on something if I choose to go with a cheaper option because I don’t recognize its purpose.

And would you figure a chinois is the best option for my purpose here?

Help needed for fixing top freezer/bottom fridge combo

My refrigerator is a Frigidaire model # FFTR2021TS5. It is a top freezer/bottom fridge combo. A couple of weeks ago, I noticed the fridge being warmer than usual but just didn’t have time to immediately deal with it.

After some googling, I pulled off the back wall to the freezer and saw that that the air channel/air divertor leading from the cooling system to the fridge below was stuffed with ice. I got rid ice blockage which created the space for cold air to travel down and was hoping this would be the ultimate fix. After re-installing the back wall and putting everything back into the freezer, I felt the center vent in the fridge where air is supposed to travel down and escape through the vents but the air flow wasn’t nearly as significant as I hoped. I closed the fridge for a day to hope time would allow cold air would gather. The fridge was/is colder but not to the degree I thought it would be, especially since I adjusted the temperature colder than the “recommended” setting.

Today (about one week after trouble shooting), I noticed the fridge warmer yet again. Removing the back wall to the freezer, the air divertor was once again blocked with ice. However one difference is the cooling fins had ice on them whereas last week they did not. I don’t know if this means anything.

So, the freezer definitely works - All the food is still frozen, I can hear the motor run and there is still an audible sound when I open the freezer door. Can anyone please give advice on what might be happening here? What do you think I need to replace? Do I need to check anther area of the fridge for a blockage? Do you see anything concerning from the pictures of the back wall I posted? This fridge was just over $500 and I am hoping to avoid spending 1/3rd of the cost or more to call someone out to repair it.

If you are reading, thank you for at least considering helping me.

Why does the air divertor keep getting clogged? Do you see anything concerning from the pictures of the back wall I posted? This fridge was just over $500 and I am hoping to avoid spending 1/3rd or even more to have it professionally fixed. I’ve included all the pictures I thought were relevant.

Any word on Tony Gonsolin?

Due to his injury, he’s a free agent. Gonsolin had a season-ending internal brace procedure and flexor repair on his right elbow in August 2025. The time table for recovery is 8-10 months, with the end of June being month 10. How does a guy with no team handle recovery/rehab? Does MLB insurance help or since he’s not “employed,” does it come out-of-pocket?

Do people think the Dodgers have been checking up on him or helping him with rehab? I hope his career isn’t cooked. It would have been great to see him in the 2nd half of the season, but maybe that’s asking a lot.

A quick search shows he is rehabbing on is IG. It’s a couple months old.

I liked seeing the emotion out of Kyle Tucker

Tucker comes across very mild-mannered and one-dimensional. Not that it’s a bad thing as this attribute can help you weather the highs and lows of a long season. Sometimes, it’s nice to see him show something more. That happened in the 9th inning today. There were two runners on and two outs and he hit a harmless pop-up to shallow RF. He slammed his bat down and ended up breaking it.

Hummingbird nest in lemon tree

Sharing the hummingbird’s nest I found while picking lemons from our backyard tree. I’ve read that these nests are likely just one time use?

What’s inside my chicken gizzard?

I slow cooked some chicken gizzards of various sizes. There were some large ones that still came out relatively firm after 5hrs of cooking. I decided to cut them into slices and put them back in the oven to tenderize them a little more. One of the larger ones wasn’t just fibrous but had “stuff” inside it. What is this stuff and should I scoop it out and discard it?

I’ve been quite frustrated with Kyle Tucker and his intermittent output since he joined the Dodgers on an obscene contract. At this point in the young season, he’s tied for 13th amongst all RFer in OPS (0.684) and 37th amongst all OFers with Adolis García, a player who was DFAed by his original team in the off-season.

After his interview with Kristen Watson following his game-winning hit, you can see that he doesn’t panic or get too high/low in these situations, kind of similar to Will Smith. Compared to the gigantic smile of Freddie, high energy of Mookie and the combination of both with Teoscar, he barely cracked a smile or showed enthusiasm during the Q & A. There was no sigh of relief or mention of a struggle with the bat. The game has highs and lows and it seems like he typically lives in the middle.

I’m glad he got that game-winning hit last night and watched his interview afterwards. It was a new perspective and I’m more optimistic of his future output and place with the team. Now more than ever, I feel like him “hiding” in the lineup amongst the other All-Stars is an ideal fit for him and his personality.
