Funny as that's kinda similar to some of the things kisuke says/does throughout of bleach.

When he said it to ururu, when he had to take care of the vizards bc of aizen, when he also told Karin he'd do anything to help etc etc.

Always trying to take care of things in his own way and now ichigo is saying that to him.
