What got you motivated to work out?

I’m 53. The death of a close relative made it so I could stop working early.

I have easy access to a gym, a dog who would walk for hours, a supportive partner who would take care of x so I could go work out, plenty of time to do it.

Everything is lined up so I could work out.

But still I can’t find the on button. I find every single reason not to.

I can feel myself getting weaker, I’m not at all pleased with myself.

Hoping for insights and ideas.
Thank you.

What helped you take better care of yourself?

Group of old friends, some sober some maybe not

Old friends are converging on our house. I’m so excited!!

At least one is sober.

The others I have no idea. We are not.

How do I ask the group about libations? Individual texts? In the group chat? What do I say?

I want to be thoughtful and not assume but also the weekend will not be booze free.

Scientist on board a cruise line

This blew my mind!

My parents are on one of those cruise lines that goes across all the great lakes in the USA. On board their boat are ornathologists, vulcanologists, geologists, marine biologists and more.

So I just searched "work as a scientist on board a cruise ship." Who knew they had all these types of jobs?

Thought it might be of interest for some of you.

Q: What's better than recycling??

A: Reuse!
Did you know there's a Creative Reuse Store in Port Hadlock?
Yarn, thread, fabric, wool, acrylic, watercolor, crayons, pastels, inks, markers, pens, stationary, envelopes, wallpaper samples, tile samples, notebooks, boxes, tins, sewing needles, knitting needles, crochet needles......

The list goes on.

I was there on opening day and I heard at least a dozen people say "OMG, I have so much to donate to these folks!"

I also have lots of creative ideas that I didn't follow through with which I want to pass along to someone else.

But the store will only stay in business if we not only donate but we buy one another's aspirational projects.

Here's where they're located:

97 Oak Bay Rd, Port Hadlock-Irondale, WA 98339
(kind of across the street-ish from the QFC)

Here are their hours:

Monday Closed
Tuesday Closed
Wednesday 11 AM–5 PM
Thursday Closed
Friday 11 AM–5 PM
Saturday 11 AM–5 PM
Sunday 11 AM–5 PM

https://www.thecreativereuse.com/

Hope we can keep this business going.

Do you use “Girlfriend” as friend and/or romantic partner?

I’ve moved a lot around the USA.

In some places, cis heterosexual women say “girlfriend” to describe a friend who’s a woman.

In other places “girlfriend” is specifically for a romantic partner who’s a woman.

Is this a change in our language or is this a regionalism?

Seeking examples of bags using these types of frames

I see lots of kiss locks, but I’m hoping to make a bag with no zipper, no kiss lock mechanism, etc.

Have you had success with these?

Fall/spring wedding guest dresses

Looking for advice:

  1. dresses for a mother of the bride
  2. with sleeves
  3. from reputable brands

I’m finding beautiful frauds through regular google searches using key words that reflect that I’m a grown woman, size 12/14 looking for flattering dress options from real stores.

I think my hang up on having my arms covered may be tough to find because it’s summer.

Any leads would be appreciated
Thank you!
