Need list assistance with building a Krieg army (500/1000)

So as a custodes player that just found out my decent sized army now has me with more points than I know what to do with, I want to fast track building the army of my first love that I like to call "Krieg death riders makes me feel things under my gas mask".

Why do I have an absolute adoration for dudes in gas masks on horses (also in little gas masks)? I have no idea but I got it bad. While a bunch of people flood into cheap custodes I want to use my sudden points abundance and go for an army I originally desired but second guessed due to cost.

I am hoping to build an army that works at 500 and 1000 to start so I can work up in size and play a bunch of games while I go (I have no idea why people feel the need to rush to 2000 in their first day). Where I need help is understanding the best way to incorporate some pony boys while still remaining decently competitive and covering my bases because I'm coming from an army that couldn't be less alike.

I figure drier + 10 death riders fulfills my needs, a unit of Krieg to hold an objective and a leman Russ to deal with scary stuff? I don't know what else I should add to hit 500 to synergize as I'm new to guards? What would you then do to expand into 1000?

I would love to keep with the Krieg theme as much as possible (can you get ogryn with little masks?) because I love the aesthetic but I recognize that they don't always provide the solutions. Also does anyone have advice on where to acquire stuff without buying piecemeal from my local shop or gw? Do I just try to find a Krieg army set with the horses and the siege one then add a couple tanks?

First time painting/playing in 15 years, went Custodes (WIP)

Spent months trying to pick an army, loved the idea of custodes but hated the fat short gold/red vibes.

HH custodes and the willingness to try my own paint scheme finally convinced me, so I picked up the 1000pts in one box (such a good deal after pricing out Admech/guards.). Still haven't bought any other units yet but really enjoying what I've got so far.

I've got some decals and loads of touch ups left to do and need to figure out how to do the bases, but so far loving the design. Any suggestions on how to do better paint would be appreciated as this was my first go at it in ages. I'm determined to figure out the cool pattern on the weapon blades, but I think I need more than a couple cheap brushes to figure that one out.

I did a "learn to play" event where we use 500pt armies and lost but it was because I lacked enough bodies to hold points while I cut their army down one at a time with the dread. Next time I'd bring another unit of guards and leave my shield captain seperate so it can split focus, we also only had a few command point abilities so I didn't realize you could do a sticky point and go fight while it stays yours.

I'm most proud that I figured out how to magnet the arms on the dread and they don't look bad when attached, after reading that using magnets to switch out weapons is critical on bigger units.

Also, I'm tempted to buy the new HH battlegroup because I adore the design of the bikes and the telemon looks dope as hell. People seem unconvinced but I was thinking of going for it and hoping they improve the value of the units in the next codex? It's not like I'm anywhere close to competitive or competent yet lol.

Anyone going to Of Monsters and Men tomorrow?

Everyone I know who would normally want to check out a concert like this is either working or out of town. As an alternative to just going on my own, did anyone have room for a tag-along? Just in case it matters, I'm a friendly guy in his early 30s, weird but in a "capable of giving an impromptu autistic lecture about space lightning" kind of way and not the creepy kind, if that helps.

There is a huge push in North America to get rid of rules around two staircases in multi-unit housing, why can't they just add a second staircase without the excessive hallways? Also, why can't they build elevators designed to be safe in fires?

I have been watching a lot of videos lately about how multi-family housing has become so expensive, and one of the controversial proposed solutions is to cut back fire safety rules by allowing a single staircase in the center of the building again, instead of this long, wasteful hallway with stairs on either end.

It is also well known that despite elevators being the only option for many people with limited mobility, society has just accepted that elevators are never safe during a fire, so everyone else is expected to evacuate while people in wheelchairs just wait in the stairwell to be rescued.

Why can't they just build an elevator that is safe during fires? Why not just allow external fire escapes since people with limited mobility are already not considered when designing fire evacuation pathways?

It seems weird that we allow a building to exist but won't allow a new one to be built in the same format.

Are American jobs in nuclear limited to US citizens?

As someone working in nuclear in Canada (regulatory inspector with feds), I've been thinking about moving south at some point to get away from snow. I've already got several retired family members living 50% of the year down in AZ/CA and would love to end up down there but I assume pretty much everything needs security clearance and from my limited understanding, the US doesn't open this up to allied nations like Canada?

The regulatory framework of the CFR isn't meaningfully different due to IAEA alignment and shared development with Canada so I feel like I could probably find some sort of employment, but should I assume the vast majority of jobs are closed off to me?

What would you add to the Legio battle force to create 2000 points?

I've lurked since about 2008 when I was a teenager playing Tau, I finally decided to get back into it and learn what has changed and re-remember how to play instead of just playing the video games and reading the books. I got the Legio set because I think it looks incredible and it just so happens to be 1000 points. I imagine it isn't the most optimal build but I'm happy to be sub-optimal and vibing so long as it's vaguely playable. That being said, I know the call of the plastic means I'll be tire kicking new boxes as soon as I finish painting these.

Does anyone recommend what would best round out this army to make it a bit more functional as a 2000 point force?

Shouldn't the medical tab have limited information if your colony isn't advanced and/or has no one with high medicine?

I always found it weird how my colony doesn't know how to make the most basic stuff but can perfectly diagnose and estimate the lethality of every medical issue.

Wouldn't it make more sense if lower tier colonies can only see partial information? You get a vague description of lumps or rashes but you can't know for sure how bad it is without further investigstion? Obviously having some medicine man with 20 medicine means they can make up for a lack of machines with their own wisdom, but may not always be able to treat everything compared to glitter world surgical centers.

I'd love to see the next expansion build on the medical system a tiny bit with the need for limited diagnostics so you've got like "inspection from medical person -> image with scavenged old world machine -> biopsy with lab table -> implant with some sort of mech scanner -> scan with fancy tech AI powered thinking machine -> injection with glitter world nanobots that detect and accelerate all healing" or something.

It would create added limitation for more tribal colonies to go scavenge a machine from an abandoned hospital (I'd also love to see more types of abandoned facilities with machines and tech you can bring back) or rely on your tribal witch doctor with guesswork on if you actually need to amputate or risk trying to get immunity. Some tribal level medicines would also be cool like immunity boosting tea that requires you cultivate ginger and other herbs, or making some healing serum out of the thrumbos special rapid healing organ (that it has because I said so). Maybe some sort of tox immunity gained from eating the liver of tox animals, idk.

If they expanded on diplomacy (a very common request by community) you could also include the ability to ask and offer medical support to other colonies. I'd love to be able to setup a combat training facility or hospital at my colony and get paid/rep by other factions who send their guys to you. You could also send your own pawns off to the Empire or other allies to get combat training or trade some cows so your tribal pawn comes back with a bionic arm and no cancer.

It would also be cool if you could transplant limbs (with witch doctoring maybe even attempt transplanting bear arms onto a human or something crazy) and maybe anomoly lets you grow new creepy limbs from goop. More ways to make your colony horrifying while finding innovative ways to sidestep technology being the answer for everything.

Just some ideas, not sure they'd ever balance or add to the experience since illness is annoying enough without it being undiagnosable for early/tribal colonies.

Noticing the temps running a fair bit higher lately (85-90°) but I'm running an early 1958-1959 thermostat that I suspect might be for 78-80°C.

These were just temps experienced after 5min of idling and a 15 minute drive at 35mph in 20°C temps. I figured I might as well check since I've got one of those cheap thermal camera dongles, and it sure seems like a whole chunk of that rad is clogged. I didn't get a chance to check if coolant was low before leaving the shed, but that seems too hard of a line?

This is my first go at a Pathfinder game, and I have been loving it, but I have noticed that in the last 40+ hours, I have only used a half dozen damaging spells because it felt like the demon setting has caused the vast majority of enemies to have spell resistance.

I originally wanted to play a wizard-like character, but I switched temporarily to try a paladin early on for vibe reasons and never went back, since my casters have always felt like my weakest characters. Ember mostly heals and occasionally spams sleep to try and get free Coups, but every time I try to cast boneshaker or something, it either doesn't go off at all or does negligible damage. Even my more pure magic caster was spamming scrolls at one point, but too many were negated, so I started shifting who I was bringing without realizing it. I'm just around lvl 8, and it feels like the vast majority of enemies are succubus or demons that get so many resistances.

I get that you probably need to build a character specifically with penetration and boosts and min/max the hell out of them to be good, but it feels like I'm one step above the middle difficulty, and this spellbook of abilities should be a little more potent? I assume part of this is adjusting from another game design or my own bad builds (it also feels like everyone, including enemies, misses so much more often), but curious if I was totally out to lunch on this.
