Transmission Troubles

Has anyone experienced transmission issues? Just recently my Venue has started to shift and hesitate while driving. It's even worse on the hwy and was randomly revving. I'm taking her in to get codes checked tomorrow. I just hope its not something $$. I have a 2020 venue that I purchased used three years ago. It has less than 100,000 k on it then and about 165 on it now. I love this car as it's been a worry free ride so far. Last week the lights all went at once and my partner replace those. And now this. Maybe it's just at that age where things start falling apart.

CBT for winter driving anxiety- does it work?

I'm wondering if anyone has had success with CBT for winter driving fears. I recently started a CBT program for anxiety- one of my biggest triggers is winter driving. My therapist said CBT can help with this but treatment will also involve exposure therapy. My concern is that the CBT program will be over well before winter hits. Therapist said I can still use the principles I learn not to support me with exposure therapy this winter.

I'm a bit concerned with not actually having therapy support while attempting exposure. I'm completely fine with driving this time of year so it's hard to discuss winter when it's not winter. I've completed a CBT program in the past and generally I only remember some portions of it now years later.

I'm off work right now and some of that is due to my commute to work. It's a 45 min drive on a hwy that is well known for winter accidents. I've had so much fear the past two years I've had to have my husband drive me many days. If I can't get over my fear I won't be able to return to that job.

Back Pain is GONE!

I just recently gave HRT another try- this time estrogen patch with progesterone tablet- and literally within days my crushing back pain is gone! I'm not sure if it is a coincidence or placebo effect, but either way I'm so happy! I'm a few years post menopause and no longer experience the long list of menopause symptoms. The pain from oestoarthritis in my back started in peri and has just gotten so much worse over the past four years- to the point I struggle to work and do the things I love. Chronic pain is horrible. I usually get cortisone shots in my spine once a year and my specialist has decided to double this.

I tried HRT about three years ago hoping it would help with peri symptoms including joint pain but I had terrible side effects from combined patch and pills as well. Thanks to this site I learned about estrogen patch with micronized progesterone. I contacted my pharmacy to see if that formulation was available and they said it was.

When I called my Dr. he told me NEVER HEARD OF IT! And would need to do some research before prescribing. Soon enough I had a prescription but I was still too worried about side effects and weight gain to try it. But I heard of so many women having joint pain relief so I finally gave it a go. Best thing ever! Even my husband is surprised to see that I'm not hobbling around any more. I even went for a run yesterday!

No HRT did not cure my arthritis, but I believe it helped to reduce the inflammation around the joints similiar to the cortisone injections. I can still feel stiffness in my joint but not the constant chronic pain. I really hope this lasts. I hope my experience will help anyone sitting on the fence. HRT may or may not work for you but it is worth the chance to keep trying different formulas.

sleeping on the ferry- how bad is it really?

So how bad is it really to sleep on the Argentia Ferry? We've always managed to get a cabin in the past but this year we didn't book. We thought stupidly that we'd skip the trip this year. Now we are wanting to head to Bonavista at the end of August. We're on waitlist for cabin- but just in case I'm wondering if we should cancel. I've got back issues so sleeping in one of the "recliner" chairs is not an option. But I've got not trouble packing my compact self inflating camping pad and sleeping on the floor. Has anyone done this successfully? And no, we don't want to take PB and drive across.

Spine injections

My spine specialists wants to increase injections in SI and facet joints to every six months for the next three years. He seems to think this will give me significant pain relief and I will be able to go back to work and live my life. I've tried explaining the injections at best work for maybe a month or two and then start to fade. And I never get full pain relief. I wish it were so. It's frustrating to be told I'm fine when I'm not!

Med break and weight loss- has anyone else experienced this?

Hey, I've been on a concerta med break for a couple of weeks and have found a big drop in appetite. I know concerta is supposed to suppress appetite but it's been the opposite for me. I've been struggling to lose weight for the past year or more since being on meds consistently.

Now that I'm off I find myself forgetting to eat and not obsessing over every meal. Suddenly I'm losing weight without even trying. Has this happened to anyone else?

So disappointed!

I know I'm only on day one taking this med, but I'm so disappointed with side effects. I tried SSRI's and they don't work for me. I get severe fatigue to the point where I can't function. My Dr. assured me this med would be different and I would be stimulated. But nope. I'm on the sofa. My body feels like lead. I can only get up to go to bathroom. I can't even cook food. It's just the same as other antidepressants. I feel like there is something wrong with me because everyone else seems to report good outcomes. :(

I'm so disappointed!

I was so hopeful this med would work for me. I am intolerant of SRRIs. They made me to fatigued I can't function. I'm only on day one of wellbutrin and my Dr. told me I should get the opposite effect. But nope, I'm stuck on the sofa with my body feeling like lead. I can only get up to go to the bathroom. It was like this when I tried prozac and zoloft and the side effect didn't improve much over two weeks. So I lost almost two months of my life trying those out.

I cant go another two weeks where I am unable to drive, get groceries, cook, clean,, walk the dog, exercise. I hate this feeling so much. I'm crying because I'm so frustrated. This is my third drug in three months and I just can't take it anymore!

Is feeling cold/chills a side effect?

Help! I took my first dose of Wellbutrin this morning and within a few hours I noticed I am feeling super cold and like I have the chills. Has anyone else experienced this? I looked online and a few sites noted it is an adverse effect. But when I called my pharmacist she said they've never heard of this as a side effect and didn't seem to think it was related. She advised I could stop taking it for a day or two and then try again and see if I had the same effects.

I really want this med to work as I can't take SSRI's. I'm hoping the chills are just a temporary non harmful side effect but feeling a bit paranoid at this point.

Wellbutrin with concerta

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has taken wellbutrin at the same time as concerta. My Dr. just prescribed it at a low dose to help with anxiety. But I'm totally afraid to try it while also on concerta. Sometimes concerta will ramp up my anxiety so I don't want anything that will hype me up more! I've tried ssri's but they are too sedating. I really want something that will chill me out and help me sleep but I'm worried about side effects and honestly don't have much faith my my GP

Missing NFLD

I'm so sad that I won't be visiting NL this summer. We're from NS but we've visited four times over the past few years. But it's never enough. I feel homesick just thinking about it.

Side effects going off zoloft?

I've been experiencing worsening mental health for the past two days and I'm wondering if this is due to going off zoloft. I was on 25 mg zoloft for three weeks before my Dr. took me off due to severe side effects. He told me I didn't need to taper off because I was only on it for a short time and at the lowest dose. I was ok at first but for the past two days I haven't been able to leave the house. I'm crying and angry all day and my anxiety is sky high. I don't know if this is due to going off zoloft cold turkey or just my anxiety in general.

Struggling with group CBT program

Hi, I've recently started an eight week CBT program for anxiety. It involves weekly online group sessions and I'm really struggling to engage and get anything out of the process. The two hour sessions feel really long to me. Especially as the first hour is listening to all the participants talk about their experiences. I get really bored. And honestly I don't really care about what the other folks are going through.

The second hour is about skill development, but by then I've already lost all focus. The homework just feels like more paperwork. What makes this most challenging is that we are on zoom and are not permitted to turn our cameras off. So I can't even get up and move around. Moving helps me concentrate!

Has anyone else with ADHD had success with CBT. I've done DBT before and honestly none of this seems to help with my anxiety. I struggle to put what I'm learning to use in real time.

So tired of being tired

Like the title says I'm so tired of being tired since starting zoloft. I'm my into third week of 25 mg and thought things might be looking up energy wise. I was taking it at night to start but was too zoned out the next day so I switched to morning dose. I sleep great at night but really struggle to get up in the morning. I take my morning dose around 7:30 and have some energy in the morning. I manage to get out for a walk and run errands but by mid afternoon I'm just crushed! I can't stay away and am like that until bedtime.

I really miss going on runs and strength training and yoga. All things I've stopped having the energy to do. It's making me sad to be sitting inside on beautiful sunny days. Any suggestions how to combat this or how long it might last?

Homewarming grant concerns

Hello, I was approved for the Home Warming grant through Efficiency NS back in 2024 to have heat pumps installed. It just recently received the contract from the company doing the work and it came in 5000 over budget. This additional cost will need to be paid by me out of pocket. My biggest concern it that this additional cost is an 'estimate' and I would be agreeing to pay any additional over run costs. I was approved for this program as I am a lower income homeowner. I'm worried if I sign the contract with this company I could be on the hook for thousands of $$ that I dont' have.

switching from evening to morning success

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had success switching their dose from evening to morning? When I started zoloft I automatically took it at night since previous experience with prozac led me to believe it would cause too much daytime drowsiness. I've been taking it a 7 pm. I sleep well but by lunchtime I'm glued to the sofa most of the day and feel so heavy and lethargic I can't function. I just start to perk up again in the evening before my dose.

I read somewhere that it can take up to 10 hours for the meds to peak in your system so skipped my dose last night and am took it a 7 am to see if that makes a difference. Fingers crossed! I really miss going out during the day and taking walks ect. .

Please tell me I'm not imagining side effects

I'm on day 9 of 25 mg for anxiety. But for the past three days I haven't even been able to leave the house, drive, get dress and showered. I feel so sedated that all I can do is lay on the sofa. I have terrible nausea. I'm not able to eat even if I were motivated enough to cook myself food. I feel terrible depression and my anxiety is through the roof.

I called my pharmasist to confirm it is safe to take lorazapam at the same time to help with increased anxiety. When I described my symptoms she was shocked that the medication is having this effect on me. She said I should not be taking the medication if the side effects are this severe. My Dr. wants me to push through the next few weeks. I feel like they don't believe that these kind of side effects are possible. Please tell me I'm not imagining this. That I do feel as bad as I know I feel.

Anxiety treatment making things worse

I'd appreciate impute/feedback from any ADDers that have experienced similar situation. I'm currently off work on a sick leave which my Dr believes is due to anxiety and has me trialing SSRI's. But this treatment if making everything so much worse. My therapist said that my anxiety is due to ADHD burnout and I agree. I'm not able to manage the demands of the job and that is causing anxiety. I've taken meds for ADHD for decades with no adverse effects but the SSRIs are causing me serious distress.

I've now spent the time I've been off work feeling seriously depressed (which I never have before) and unmotivated. All of the things I would usually do to help myself feel well, like exercise have stopped as I no longer have any energy. I've never felt anything like this before in my life. I don't even want to wash my hair or spend time with loved ones.

I've expressed these concerns to my Dr but he wants me to stick with the meds. I feel like I have not choice but to take the medication otherwise my Dr. will say I am not participating in my recovery and I will loose sick leave benefits. I don't understand why I need to be diagnosed with anxiety in order to be off work sick when clearly ADHD is a contributing factor. I guess ADHD is not considered an "illness"? Sorry for such a long post but I'm feeling very stuck

I'm on day three of zoloft 25 mg and I'm feeling better than expected. I was hesitant to start zoloft after a bad experience with prozac. Prozac made me feel like a zombie for two weeks. It was horrid. Yesterday was a bit off. I felt like raging at everything! I was feeling a bit zoned out when I first took my dose today but as the day progressed I noticed I was feeling pretty chill. For the first time in a very long time I'm going to bed without the dread :) Hopefully tomorrow will be more of the same.
