Is it true this medicine calms you if you have adhd and hypers you if you don’t have it?

I feel like it does make me more hyper (though not bouncing off walls), more energy, even friendlier. But it also helps me focus.

And while obviously not everyone with adhd symptoms has it, I believe I fit the bill very very well, as does my therapist

36g > 54mg tomorrow …much of a difference physically?

Hey all

Upping my dose starting tomorrow. On 36mg I definitely feel the stimulation from the quick release and definitely feel it throughout the day, but it’s just not working???

I have defo seen small changes and I wake up so full of energy that has really been helping me.

Does anyone think the 54mg was overwhelming in the physical effects like agitation or anxiety? should I take the day off work tomorrow or wait till I’m working at home on Friday?

gave me concerta, now saying I might not have adhd?

So I went to the my psyc because I have always had issues getting things done, and struggling in school, rejection sensitivity, emotionally unregulated, zero motivation, but not sad or depressed.

She said the ‘thought’ I had adhd and prescribed me concerta, Im on the second dose up (27mg) and today she prescribes me 32 or 36 mg i forgot. but says that shes not sure i actually have adhd…? why did you give me medicine then? Im confused.

I have been telling her the meds arent working..becuase I dont feel any diffrent.. but from what ive seen the first dose or 2 dosent affect a lot of people.

I dont really understand whats happening, because i think i have adhd and want to keep trying meds to see if anything else works.. so idk. whatever.

has this happen to anyone else????

Generic Methylphenidate ER vs Concerta?

Just started Methylphenidate ER (Trigen Lab) 2 weeks ago, 36mg. I was on Ritalin 10mg 3x day for a while and asked my psychiatrist to switch to extended release since my days are so long now. I used to take concerta in college and remember the effects being very different. I’m not necessarily looking for that euphoria but I don’t find that it helps maintain my focus as much and the motivation is still hard for me. I also feel starving all day long. No matter how much I eat, I’ll still feel hungry 30 mins to an hour later. I’m actually gaining weight now.

I know a lot has changed since then with shortages and a lot of people finding their meds aren’t the same anymore. Also, our bodies change over time but I’m wondering if the generic is the reason or maybe the dose?

My psych doesn’t really believe in any differences between name brand and generic so if I wanted to switch I would have to find another dr. or pharmacy?

Also, does anyone have any tips? I know diet and hydration is big, which I think I’m pretty good at maintaining that. I feel like I need to take breaks during the day but sometimes I don’t come back to my work after my break. I take days off on the weekend or at least 1 day a week. My cycle has a big role and I know that my meds won’t really work when I’m on my period.

Normal and happy life ?

How many of you are on concerta and have a « normal happy life ». I mean having a family, joking around, happy smiling, not just functional robots that take the medication to be a slave of capitalistic society. It’s a genuine question.

I see all my family abroad who are getting married, living simple life without meds, while im struggling with this.

Of course my post is very much provocative and I’m much more nuanced in my thoughts but I just need to know if people found their soulmate and have happy life while being medicated

Thanks !

Has anyone had this experience, I need it for studying because it wore off, I am planning on studying all night. Has anyone taken it like this?

Should i really quit my antidepressants for just concerta?

I've been on 50mg Sertraline since I was 13-14 years old and it really helped with my ocd, I'm now 19 and have been on 38mg of Concerta for about a year and a half while still taking the other medication.

Recently my psychiatrist increased my dose in order to get me to quit the Sertraline. I don't really see what the issue is? I told her I was fine with my current dosages but she still wants me to try. I have the choice to do so or to refuse.

Maybe it could help but Sertraline is really shitty to quit. It takes months to lower the dosage and it made me really sick the last time I had to change meds. If it doesn't work, it also takes a while to get back up.

I would be miserable for at the very least 2 months and I'm not sure if I wanna put myself in such situation.

Does anyone have any similar experience? Could the Concerta work on the ocd (I am diagnosed with ADHD too, it's just the ocd is what's the hardest to manage for me)

I also have issues with the lack of appetite side effect and I fear raising the dosage would make that worse I don't know

Increasing mg of Concerta too fast? [TW:ED]

Hi! I’m 20 F.
My psychiatrist prescribed me Concerta 18 mg for 2 weeks(since 6 Aug), then I should have increased to 36 mg, alongside with some anxiety medication(Lyrica).

I have a very important exam in 10 days(I didn’t study for it), since I am still in AuDHD burnout (1+ year), so I told him 18 mg isnt enough, doesnt make a difference, and my dr let me double it.

I have binge eating disorder and I’ve relapsed shortly after increasing the dose(I didn’t eat sugar or unhealthy fats), but I also feel 36 mg is more effective in other areas. I am also extremely angry and concerned about something(my dr not writing ASD diagnosis, but suspicion (I literally have evidence since I was younger and very high scores on RAADS-R and AQ) , excluded depression(I scored very high on some tests) on my report and if I should take a gap year in Uni)

PSA: I started taking Concerta on my late luteal phase…I also had severe behavioural addictions in the past(3 years sober , but because I was SICK of it and therapy was necessary). I can’t go in between 18 and 36 mg as I would need another appointment .

I want to know if I relapsed because of increasing the dose faster than I was advised at first or because of my anger. Sure, it’s different for everyone and I will contact my dr, but I am curious if anyone had experienced this.

concerta lowkey frying my brain

Im a 21F student who got recently diagnosed (3 months ago) and am currently on titration for concerta XL (methylphenidate MR if it isn’t in stock). currently on 27mg and soon moving up to 36ng but i honestly feel so foggy.

i cant really pay attention to things for prolonged periods (not like i could to begin with but my attention span is even more cooked) like little dopamine boosts i would get from scrolling on my fyp i cant watch a video for 5 seconds before putting it in 2x. my words are getting more jumbled up in my head and it’s hard to express myself with wit like i used to. my sense of humour has kind of decreased and i zone out a lot. it also makes it a LOT easier to ignore tasks i need to initiate instead of encouraging executive function.

it seems like it’s caused hyperactivity in whatever part of my brain it’s supposed to calm down in a sense. my spelling has also become a bit more jumbled too and when im reading for example, i jump multiple sentences down the paragraph than just skimming like im used to and seems like im not really absorbing what im reading. Also a lot more irritable and have an even shorter fuse before i blow now.

seems like it might not be a right fit or i may be on too low of a dosage? it has proved more helpful for task completion rather than initiation but are there other facts that could play a part? maybe my sleep schedule or diet? i’ve adjusted as best i could for a routine of some sorts and idk maybe it’s not the right fit but ill stick to titration as it is because my review is next week. has anyone else gone through anything similar?

Noradrenaline paradox

Has anyone experienced the opposite effect of the Concerta?

I mean agitation and insomnia. However, the desired effects are missing: calmness, concentration and no chaos in the head.

The doses are 18 mg and 27 mg so these are not high doses.

I'm afraid it's the noradrenaline that's responsible, as it unfortunately can cause insomnia and agitation, so switching to atomoxetine won't help.

Guanfacine doesn't work at all.

Psychiatrist recommends Magnesium L-Threonate

Hi all

Recently started concerta 18mg and just moved up to 27mg. Psychiatrist has recommended me buying megesium L-Threonate. He said two in the morning one in the evening. Unfortunately it’s a bit pricey to be buying monthly, 44 euro per month ….is it actually worth buying? Anyone have experience? It’s a lot to pay when my normal regular prescription is already 30 euros a month on top of other costs. But if there are some real benefits I’d probably try it

My dopamine levels feel finally right.

After a good 3-4 months on Vyvanse, and switching from Concerta (which was no longer serving me well, + had me trapped in negative, anxious spirals…),

… and now writing this even after a week long break from vyvanse due to Vacation, I honestly feel like my dopamine receptors are firing correctly, and I feel almost happy which I haven’t felt in a long time, and I feel like I can enjoy things again like watching a TV series, or looking into lego and trying to build my favorite lego series set.

I want to pursue my interests again and learn a new instrument and create stuff.

Life with the right medication is good.

Anybody else relate?

Concerta + THC

I’ve been taking Concerta for a few weeks. I’ve noticed when I smoke a lot that day I head terrible headaches , heart palpitations, tingling left arm, tingly feelings in my temples. Could this be due to high blood pressure? I’ve had low blood pressure in the past. It’s weird , I can smoke a little but after I smoke a lot it gives me these symptoms. Anyone else have same situation?
