Care package for a friend going through a rough stretch — what actually helped, not just what looked nice?
A friend of mine went through a breakup and a layoff basically back to back this spring, brutal timing, honestly. I wanted to send something but didn't want it to feel like a card that says 'thinking of you' and nothing else. Ended up putting together a little box myself at first, then found a pre-made one that did basically what I wanted without me hunting down five separate things.
What actually landed with her, she told me later, was that none of it required her to do anything. No journal prompts, no 'here's a list of affirmations to read.' Just stuff she could use without energy, a soft balm, a soak, something for the tub. Low effort to receive, if that makes sense.
The set I found is from the brand I ended up settling on, it's basically a sympathy box without being morbid about it, if that's even a category.
Anyone else find the 'thinking of you' gifts either miss completely or land perfectly? What's the difference, in your experience?
