Care package I built for a friend going through it — what I learned
My best friend got laid off two weeks ago and I wanted to send her something. Skipped flowers (they die, she'd have to throw them out). Skipped a Doordash card (too transactional). Instead I put together a small box: one bath bomb in lavender, a candle in a scent she'd mentioned liking, a small body butter, a handwritten note, and a TJ Maxx face mask. Total spend: maybe $40.
But the bath bomb and candle she'd never have bought for herself; the note she read three times. Some patterns I noticed across friends I've sent care packages to: small consumable beats objects (no display guilt), scent she's mentioned before > scent you think she'd like, and the note is doing 70% of the work.
Curious — what's worked for you when sending something to a friend who's not okay?
