CloudFlare R2 Storage - Billing Question

I am thinking to use Cloudflare R2 to store my images and videos that will be embedded in my static webpage. But it requires a payment method even for free tier. What happens if a bot downloads my video million times. Theoretically it means I have to sell my house to pay Cloudflare. Does anyone know how to mitigate such a risk?

Carrd alternative for EU GDPR compliant requirements?

I love Carrd. But for my new project I would like to know if there is any Carrd alternative suitable for European consumers. I know about cookie consent etc. but the webpage will host photos or videos related to people in EU, so I would like to keep the information in EU servers. Please advice.

What do you think about Drime - A EU hosted Cloud Service

What do you think about this company. I am seriously looking into moving away from non EU cloud to EU based data centres, but would like to know your opinion about the company. I understand its a French company. However, its a very new startup and there is limited public information to conclude if they are here for serious business. Please let me know your thoughts and any information that can add value to my research.

Why no lifetime email services offered by startups to receive funds?

Why no lifetime email service by startups who are looking for cash? I know the usual answers will be like its a lifetime expense for the company or lifetime doesnt mean its your lifetime or the company has to keep servicing the accounts when they no longer get revenue from the customer. I understand that but if we look at the cloud storage business, many startups still offer GBs or TBs of lifetime storage alongside regular subscription. Once they reach a profitable stage they stop offering lifetime. But we dont see that for email services and the sweet thing is unlike cloud storage lifetime email can be given with even 5 or 10 GB. Why is it still not something pursued by startups to get funds? Rarely companies like Proton had done this but this strategy is not seen as frequent as in cloud storage business. Why?

Note: The question is related to privacy friendly emails only. There are “lifetime” accounts by data harvesting companies which is not what I am talking about.

When privacy forums cannot tolerate free speech, this happens.....

Make no mistake - this was not due to account being less than 7 days. It was because they didn't like my stand on a particular topic. I would have respected them if they didn't send this notification after accepting my previous comments. Happy that it proves these forums are not really about free speech, but an echo chamber.

Default From address as Gmail address

I connected my Gmail account with Proton via Easy Switch. Plan was to stop using gmail and during the transition period, I would like to send mails from my Gmail address via Proton interface. However, each time I find that I should change the from address manually. This means once in a while if i miss this step, the email goes out as from Proton mail address itself. How can i avoid this? Is there a way to default the From address to Gmail so that I can slowly transition and finally start using proton mail address in the end when i get rid of gmail related emails?

Why is the end game for Proton Pass

I am seeing Proton Pass available as a lifetime purchase for quite some time now, maybe more than a year. I wonder what is the strategy. If a large chunk of their customers purchase lifetime then I guess they have no incentive to improve the product. I am not saying what they do is good or bad. I am trying to understand their strategy. I dont know if there are many softwares that give lifetime offer for such long time. How does it make business sense for a product that users expect to add new features.

Most secure Domain registrar

I am planning to purchase a new domain and would like to know the most secure domain registrar (non US). Now, when I say this what I mean is

  1. There should be zero chance of domain suspension
  2. Even if a domain gets suspended, the registrar should first act responsibly and contact me before suspending and work with me to solve the issue (if its a legitimate issue)
  3. Other security aspects like losing my domain due to domain theft is secondary to me because any decent registrar with 2FA will be secure in any case.

Edit: I should I have said this before, I am looking for a non US registrar because although US based registrars are reliable and secure, I would prefer entities based elsewhere.

Question - Email Backup

What is an effective email backup solution available nowadays. I have hotmail and protonmail accounts and I am using free tier - so no fancy solution available right now. What I want is a zero hassle backup. I would like to have a setup that doesn't rely on technical skills (No time to debug and solve). It would be good if I can automate a weekly or monthly incremental backup, maybe store in cloud. I would like to have a cloud based solution where I set it up once and forget. And last but the most important - privacy of my data from big tech companies. Please advice.

Can a custom domain really save us?

Maybe I am overthinking, but recent events like increasing taxes/surcharges to increase revenue (by governments) left me wondering what if tomorrow any government introduces extra charges on domain name registration, not to mention double or triple the amount citing emergency laws or whatever due to geo political events. These are not distant scenarios, especially if you are following recent events around the world. Aren't we then hostage to our own domain names. I wonder why do people recommend custom domains will make us not to lose our email addresses? Suppose I start using my own .com domain, I am not sure what would be the situation after a couple of years if the then government or even the registry increase prices. In such cases normal email service providers are much safer as the impact is low since they have millions of customers any domain price increase is negligible on each of us.

Unable to understand why some providers dont like disposable alias

So the other day I was trying to change my existing hotmail address used to registet with a service with a disposable alias. The service rejected the request citing they dont accept such ids. What is the problem for such providers? I can imagine Google or Microsoft might not like people using these but for a service provider - all that matters is if I use their service. Moreover if they want to track me they can with the id that use to access their service. They wont be able to see my inbox unlike Google or MS. What do they gain by forcing me to use a regular email service. For that matter, I only recently started using alias service, till now I had a separate Gmail id used as a “disposable” id as its not my regular email and so I can dispose it anytime. I dont understand what changes for a service provider when i use an alias service as opposed to fake ids from regular email providers.

So thats it - All privacy forums are just echo chambers - Not open to opinions

I put a similar comment in r/emailprivacy and the comment was not published (till now). Lets see if this goes through. The thing is I am a huge proponent of privacy but my concern is not strange, I believe. People are advising for custom domains as email ids. How is this feasible for an average person? What happens if the domain is lost when we either forget to renew on yearly basis, for whatever reason be it slipping out of mind or saved payment method not going through or change in registration policy or any unforeseen geopolitical events. Domain dropping is for real and even corporations lose their domain. Imagine the nightmare when someone gets hold of the domain. All my privacy goes for a toss. My private information is no longer private. It is impossible to ask everyone including wherever I signed up for to stop sending emails. People should be extremely careful to proceed in this direction. Custom domains are interesting but unless there is a way to purchase it and not lose it, its not as privacy friendly as it sounds.

Interaction of Color Digital Version - Josef Albers

I dont see any review of Interaction of Color - Digital version of the book by Josef Albers. I have the printed copy. Wondering if its useful to have the digital version as well. Is it worth the purchase? Are there any reviews available by people who have used both? Please advice.
