What is supposed to be part of a cleaning?
So I’ve (22f) been going to the same dentist for quite a few years now. The problem is that they only take my primary insurance, and not my secondary, so I’m left with a lot of out of pocket expenses for things like retainers or surgery. I have impacted wisdom teeth that need to come out so I started looking at other places that take both my insurances.
Today I had a cleaning at a new place, but it was very different that what I have had in the past. All they did was drill (or maybe scrape or waterpik or something? All I know is it was a lil painful and there was a lot of water) and brush my teeth. And it wasn’t by a hygienist, it was by the doctor. I don’t exactly remember what my old place did, but I know they AT LEAST flossed me and then would offer fluoride at an extra cost. Is this normal? I’m not worried about the hygienist vs doctor thing, but it just felt a little sloppy compared to my usual treatment.
