Installed today, couple of questions...

Has 29x Aiko 465W panels and a Sigenergy 8kW inverter and 2x9kWh batteries, in the garage.

For export do I just now find a tariff and apply? It seems EDF is best for the moment?

House is all electric, heatpump, EV, now solar and battery. So cheap overnight and good export seems to match what EDF are offering.

Also, this is specific and odd, but due to the Sig stuff being in the garage they added a WiFi repeater, it's working, connected to the app etc. But I want to hook it up to Home Assistant and I can't seem to find the WiFi repeater! It's now showing up in the eero app, and I don't want to reset it and run through it manually to find it as I don't know how the Sig is managed directly to get it to connect to it if I change something. I've sat scrolling the list while turning the repeater on and off and it just doesn't seem to appear. Weird.

Edit: Successfully added to Home Assistant, I realised the IP is in the the Sig app.

Call from the installer today about next steps and confirming MCS etc in the coming weeks. Happy with the system, been cloudy all day and still generated 39kWh so far, I've been topping up the car while I can earn from export.

Connection dropping in the afternoon for the last 3 days

We moved into a new build almost a year ago, and I brought my Talktalk account over. It's been fine, until Thursday.

About 5.40pm on Thursday the connection dropped, the ONT showing a flashing green PON light. Eventually that became a red LOS light.

Reported it, engineer booked. It started working somewhere around 10-11pm.

Friday morning about 8.20am the engineer turned up, but I had to take my kids to school. (Slot said 12-1pm when booked). He mentioned intermittent issues, did some checks and told my wife the level was "2 below minimum" or something similar.

Friday, connection failed about 4.30, same pattern of lights. Reported again, told they can't book an engineer as the previous job hasn't been updated yet.

Came back on about 9pm

Today, the connection was lost about 4.30pm, flashing PON light.

It seems odd that the fault is occuring around the same time each day, and resolving later at night. Could it be weather related? We've had some hot sunny days, it's making me wonder if there's a light leak affecting and already low level of signal, or heat building up during the day causing something to shift slightly.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before and has an idea?

Is it worth moving a vent for 1 extra panel?

We're getting solar and battery installed in a few weeks, but there's a bathroom extractor vent that would prevent one panel being fitted, which would mean 28 instead of 29 panels.

The vent could be moved to another part of the roof and allow for this extra panel. The scaffolding is going up the day before install, so I could potentially try find someone to move it before the panels go up, using the scaffolding.

The question really is it worth it? It's going to mean a difference between 13kWp Vs 13.5kWp and I currently have no idea how much moving the vent might cost... I need to try get some quotes today.

Anyone here experienced this?

Rearview trim removal for dashcam power?

I've been trying to remove this, but it's stuck part way off and seems solidly in place.

This is is a MY21 HSE. I have found guides for the type with the clamshell two halves, but this is different and just has single part that seems to come straight down, it's just stuck now.

I saw this recently, and was telling someone about it but can't find it!

It was a promo/advert, set in a rustic town hall. Maybe Amish? There was a guy pitching a new technology, internal combustion engines. The audience we're asking him if it was cleaner, more reliable, can fill up at home etc.

I've had no luck searching for it, and it's not in my YouTube history. I think I watched it in the Reddit app via a comment. I don't think it was for a specific car, more an awareness thing?
