Create your own spin off thread

I had an idea on how to spin off and create a new series. Id absolutely love another show from Yoshihiro Togashi.

I really want to hear where you folks would take the series and what you'd like to see.

Ive included my idea below, but im going to spoiler tag it to not influence what other folks might want to write.

Write a little or as much as you want, id love to read.

Below is my idea for a new series in the same universe -

>!Yusuke has a daughter with Keiko. Similar to Yusuke, shes a feral child who hates school and authority. The daughter doesn’t know much about the events of Yu Yu Hakusho, but she is spirituality aware and knows strange people visit her dad and Yusuke sometimes has to leave for "business trips".!<

>!One of these business trips Yusuke doesn’t return for months.!<

>!His daughter enlists the help of Kuwabara's son to figure out what happened.!<

>!Unsure of Kuwabara's son's archetype. Could be another honor bound meat head we all know and love, could be opposite, maybe exact opposite. Cold, intelligent, hyper aware young Sensui type. Either way, blue hair.!<

>!Their investigation leads them to an older Kurama tending Genkai's forest, who agrees to get them access to Demon World, where he sets them up with a guide. (Could also encounter Botan who spills the beans as part of their investigation).!<

>!The guide is Shura (Yomi's son), who, as an act of teenage rebellion, built a mentor/student relationship with Kurama over the years.!<

>!Rounding out their group is... Hiei, who is still serving as a warden, returning humans back home and stopping demons causing problems in human world.!<

>!Hiei senses humans and appears. Recognizing the 3, Hiei understands the seriousness of Yusuke going missing and intrigued by a troublemaker strong enough to kill/capture Yusuke. So thats the jumping off point, i think it would be a really fun watch!<

4 Sam Hauser Trades to look at during the dry season

Trade season is done and rosters are mostly set for the upcoming season. That being said, im bored af, so lets talk about some Sam Hauser trades!

Hauser is solid, but between his medium contract, and the 3 young wings needing minutes, hes the easiest salary crunch casualty.

Luckily its pretty easy to gauge Hauser's trade value, as 2 very similar players were just traded for salary flexibility. OKC just flipped Isaiah Joe and Aaron Wiggins for 2 2nd round picks each, establishing an obvious value.

So with all that, here are 4 trades for Sam Hauser.

Sam Hauser to Indiana for TJ McConnell

Indiana - Indiana is getting Haliburton back, and have Andrew Nembhard who just had a solid season being the primary playmaker. TJ McConnell doesn’t bring enough off the ball value to play significant minutes, with Indiana likely needing to have either Hali or Nembhard running point at all times. On the wing Indiana has Nesmith (health issues), Sheppard (3rd stringer), and Oubre (extremely streaky), and could really use some solid pure shooting from outside.

Boston - The Celtics have a glut of bench wings all really needing more time. Scheierman, Walsh, and Gonzalez all made a case last season for more minutes. Tatum returning and Paul George coming in more than eats up JB’s minutes, and Mitchell Robinson makes some of those big man minutes disappear as well. What we could use is another ball handler who isn’t absolutely washed. McConnell is a guy I’ve wanted for a long time, he’s a hustle defender and can set the table for teammates. Our only PG’s right now are Prichard (score first guy) and Mike Conley (borderline unplayable). It’s not bad relying on Tatum to run point, but there are situations where you want to rest Tatum and not start hemorrhaging points. A guy like McConnell can come in for 15ish minutes a game and keep the ship steady, and get guys like Robinson involved in the offense.

Sam Hauser to Houston for Clint Capela, future 2nd rounder

Houston - Houston pretty desperately needs shooting. Looking at their roster construction they’re running Sengun (30%), Thompson (22%), Marcus Smart (33%), Tari Eason (36%), Jabari Walker (36%), and Steve Adams (-1000%) all heavy minutes next season. They should be pretty interested in adding pure shooting to this lineup.

Boston - I don’t think Capela is worth much at this point in his career, but trading Capela leaves Houston really light at the rim, so I doubt we could squeeze 2 2nd’s. Even at Capela’s advanced age, he’s recording a 19.4 OREB% which is way up there, and he played 75 games last year. The big bonus right now is that the trade would give Brad some wiggle room. Capela for Hauser would give Brad 3.8m of space to play with this year, and 4.28m next year, while getting out of the 3rd year entirely. Also, PG13 + Capela’s salaries for next season put us at 63.88m, with Nikola Jokic’s salary for next year being 62.84m. So this trade gets Brad some play money at the bottom of the roster, while also keeping the contracts he needs to be a player with Denver, if shit hits the fans there, and also scoops up a 2nd round pick.

Sam Hauser to Chicago for Rob Dillingham, 2 future 2nds

Chicago - Similar to Houston, Chicago is looking to play heavy minutes to some non shooters, Josh Giddey (36%), Claxton (16%), Williams (35%), Buzelis (35%), Okoro (33%). Powell is more of a scorer than a 3 point shooter. Chicago really needs to invest in some spacing.

Boston - Honestly, its the perfect time to invest in Rob Dillingham. He only has 6.8m committed for next season, and a team option after that. He’s either proved he’s worth re-signing to a small deal similar to PP’s deal right now, or he’s trash and can go. Either way it creates a 4m buffer for Brad Stevens to make other smaller moves, and comes with a 2nd round pick or 2. I wouldn’t hate having a PG prospect while opening up some cap space and minutes for our young wings. I like Boston's development team over Minny or Chicago.

Sam Hauser to Chicago for Jalen Smith, future 2nd

Chicago - Same team, same logic, different player. Chicago just added Caleb Wilson and Nic Claxston. They have a glut of guys who will play PF and may prefer to have a guy like Hauser shooting from a wing position than a Caleb Wilson backup.

Boston - Jalen Smith has long been he poor man’s Miles Turner. He seemingly is always available in trade discussions and for some reason teams aren’t ever really bought in. On paper he’s a routine 9ppg, 5rpg, 1bpg with 36%+ 3 point shooting, which is solid. He’s an expiring deal, where Hauser is a cost controlled 12m-ish for the next 3 seasons.

My gf said my bridge was ugly

I dont pretty things up often in the game, idk why I just get focused on collecting the pokemon.

Anyway I connected this bridge over part of the Basin and went to show my gf.

She didnt exactly say it was ugly, she said, "You should add like lights, and benches. Also plants, does the game have plants? Also make the middle part bigger and put something there like a statue. Also its just hanging there, it needs like support beams. Hey is the taco meat done?"

Anyway I did all those things and I think it looks pretty neat!

[Heavy] Max Shulga to Real Madrid

https://heavy.com/sports/nba/boston-celtics/young-guard-leaves-celtics-to-sign-with-real-madrid/

Shulga left the Celtics this Summer. I'm guessing he was given the option to compete for 1 of the C's 2-way contracts, and opted to try his luck with Golden State's Summer League team.

That didnt work out and he's headed to one of Europe's most popular teams.

The Celtics still have 2 2-way contracts available to offer

2015 Nissan Rogue, 210,000+ miles, Automatic

Looking for some information and potential cost before we walk into a mechanic.

Girlfriends car started stuttering as we were driving. It felt like it was coming from the front end.

Then, it less than a mile down the road the wheels stop turning, but the gas pedal is still revving the engine.

I put it in park and it was rolling backwards a little bit.

Something on the dash flashed a message about the chassis but it disappeared really quickly.

We had it towed home and put bricks behind the wheels so it doesnt roll anywhere.

Anyone have any idea whats going on and the potential cost to fix?

Im not looking to take anyone's word as gospel, just looking to educate myself a bit before walking into a conversation at a garage.

If I had done the last 10 drafts

Here's how things would have gone down if I had been calling the shots the last 10 drafts.

... I suck.

2017

Pick #3 - Jayson Tatum

My Pick - Jayson Tatum

I remember I wasn’t 100% on board with trading the #1 overall pick for #3, but this has to be one of, if not the, greatest moves of Danny Ainge’s executive career. Josh Jackson was also in the mix, but after he ghosted the C’s on a workout I think we all were pretty deadset on Tatum.

Pick #37 - Semi Ojeleye

My pick - Jordan Bell

Semi isn’t someone I did a lot of research on predraft, and honestly Jordan Bell is the only player I recognized that was left at this point. Given my predilection for always wanting to draft bigs, Bell was who I had eyes for. Bell does fit into my anti draft philosophy of drafting an undersized big with no shooting/passing skills, though.

Picks #53 and #56 - No idea

I can’t pretend I had guys lined up this deep. I barely had a guy I liked at 37.

2018

Pick #27 - Robert Williams

My pick - Omari Spellman

Going into this draft, I was looking at Spellman because I liked the Kevin Love archetype of a rebounding and shooting big man. I’m not super sure what happened to Spellman, he looked like he had solid stats for a young big man, but only got 2 shots with NBA teams and never got a chance again. Rob is the obvious pick here, just because he dropped so far. Because of his injury issues, it’s worth spending the #27 pick on that kind of question mark, where lottery teams were scared.

2019

Pick #14 - Romeo Langford

My pick - Romeo Langford

We don’t have to feel so bad about the Langford pick, as the next 2 picks in the draft had similarly underwhelming careers, in Sekou Dembouya and Chuma Okeke. Tommy Heinsohn had a lot of good things to say about Langford before the draft, which cemented the pick for me against who was available. The only other guy I was hyped on for this pick was Tyler Herro, who went the pick before and was unavailable.

Pick #22 - Grant Williams

My pick - Nassir Little

I really liked Little as a defender here, with some upside as a potential shooter. I really like his potential versatility as a defender. The only other guy I liked here is Darius Bazley, but not nearly as much as Little. Grant wasn’t even on my radar.

Pick #33 - Carsen Edwards

My Pick - Carsen Edwards

I was hyped on the Quad Father coming out of college and was super hyped we scooped him up. He had microwave scorer potential and I liked him as a 6th man. I also really liked Admiral Schofield and Bol Bol here.

Pick #51 - Tremont Waters

My pick - No idea

Can’t pretend I had anything lined up this deep lol

2020

Pick #14 - Aaron Nesmith

My pick - Aaron Nesmith

Nesmith was shooting 50% from 3 in college before he got hurt. I really loved the combination of energy, shooting, and size. I really liked a handful of guards here, including Cole Anthony, Josh Green, and Tyrese Maxey, but this pick was nobody but Nesmith for me if he was available. I will say, when Haliburton was falling I was hoping we’d scoop him up.

Pick #26 - Payton Pritchard

My pick - Theo Maledon

This draft was crazy for me, there were a bunch of guys in this range I liked. Theo Maledon was hyped as a real facilitator at PG, which I thought the team could really use at this point. Other guys I liked were Vernon Carey Jr., Tyrell Terry, and Xavier Tillman.

Pick #30 - Desmond Bane (Traded)

My pick - Theo Maledon/Xavier Tillman

Maledon is still on the board here, but in an imaginary world where I took Maledon with the last pick, and someone else took Bane, I would have taken Tillman.Tillman was slated as an NBA ready body from the get go. Just a hard nosed player who can move his feet on defense. The C’s were competing at this point and I wanted a guy who could get minutes asap.

Pick #47 - Yam Madar

My pick - Grant Riller

I had no idea who Yam Madar was. Grant Riller was considered a sleeper in this years draft. He’s a player who reportedly had a good handle and feel for the game. His measurables and athleticism were underwhelming, but scouts liked his head and he seemed like a strong backup PG. I also liked Paul Reed here, as I always have a big man lined up.

2021

Pick #45 - Juhann Begarin

My pick - Luka Garza

I was getting so hyped as I slowly watched Ayo Dosunmu fall out of the first round, but he got snapped up at #38. My pick here would have been Luka Garza. There really isn’t much of a reach at this point in the draft. There was just something I liked about Garza in college. If both players are sprinting, Garza is going to lose the race, the difference was, Garza is always sprinting. He spent his college career out working more athletic guys and I felt like it would translate to the NBA. I still love Garza as a 3rd - 4th big man and I was hyped the C’s signed him.

2022

Pick #53 - JD Davison

My pick - No idea

As someone who loves the draft, this year was a bummer. Walking in with pick #53 is rough for fans to engage with. I liked the pick at the time, but him not being able to develop a 3 was rough. Pick and roll ball handlers need to be able to pull up to keep defenses honest defending the action. It’s just too easy to guard at this point if you can give the ball handler space on the perimeter.

2023

Pick #38 - Jordan Walsh

My pick - No idea

Going in, I really liked Olivier-Maxence Prosper. He unfortunately got drafted right before the C’s could pick. The C’s immediately started punting this pick back repeatedly, scooping up a bunch of 2nd round picks, and also grabbing Walsh. I really didn’t have anyone lined up or researched 13 picks later.

2024

Pick # 30 - Baylor Scheierman

My pick - Kyle Filipowski/Tyler Kolek

Filipowski fell, potentially due to character concerns, but theres no better time to take a swing on a talent that dropped than pick #30. His size and finesse were intriguing for me. I also liked Tyler Kolek here. He reminded me a bit of TJ McConnell here, but with a 3 pointer. I like the edge he plays with. I was also hyped on his college teammates at Marquette, Oso Ighodoro and Kameron Jones, but obviously much later in the draft.

Pick #54 - Anton Watson

My pick - Ulrich Chomche/Kevin McCullar Jr.

I actually had picks here, and they were guys I thought would go much earlier. Chomche is still an intriguing player. He has elite size and mobility for that size, but he seemed not to grasp the finer details of the game. He’s still on a 2-way for Toronto. Kevin McCullar is the exact opposite of Chomche where he was an older player who looked like he could contribute early in his career. He was considered a jack of all trades and he reminded me a bit of Evan Turner. He has good size, and is reasonably skilled as a ball handler. His big question as a 5th year college player, was if he was really that much more talented, or was he a bigger and older guy bullying college level athletes. Like Chomche, McCullar is in the G-League and i’d love to see the C’s try him out.

2025

Pick #28 - Hugo Gonzalez

My pick - Johni Broome

There are a handful of guys I wanted here, and most of them went off the board before the C’s went. I liked Will Riley and Danny Wolf as offensive guys. Johni Broome I liked because of his energy on D. I was aware of his upside limitations, but really liked the energy and hustle. In college Broome gave 100% on D and on the boards. Hugo was mocked all over the place and i hadn't researched him. I really appreciate the C’s willingness to take the guys who drop, it seems to be a theme.

Picks #46 & #57 - No idea

I didn’t have anyone lined up this deep in the draft.

2026

Pick #27 - Chris Cenac

My pick - Chris Cenac

I was so sure Cenac was going to get snapped up, but he fell all the way to Boston and I couldn’t be happier. Before the season, a lot of folks thought the C’s were going to be drafting somewhere in the late lottery, and I highlighted Cenac as a guy I’d like the C’s to take in that range. I was called stupid and told Cenac was definitely going top 10. Well jokes on you dad, now who is the stupid?! Had Cenac not fallen, my guy was Meleek Thomas. He played behind Acuff in college and I figured he had a lot more he could do not being stuck behind a heliocentric guy like Acuff.

Pick #40 - Dillon Mitchell

My pick - Henri Veesaar

I know we took Mitchell because he Brad thought he was the best player available who was willing to take a 2 way. For some reason Veesaar as trying to force his way to either Atlanta or LAL. I don’t really get what happened, but everyone saw the freefall and knew something fishy was going on. I was definitely happy to see the C’s double down on C. Not knowing Veesaar would be available at 40, I actually did highlight Mitchell in a pre-draft posts.

Celtics Summer League - Final Grades and Futures

I decided instead of giving final game grades, and then rating guys on their Summer League as a whole, I would just give final thoughts on their entire Summer League in a single post. I also couldn’t figure out the best way to organize them so it’s going to seem like a random list.

I’ll just stick this here - Grades are super subjective and a guy's expectations vs reality play a major factor. Like I expect Hugo to be a major player and put up numbers, and if he does that I’ll give him an A. If a deep bench warmer surprisingly looks adequate I might also give him an A even if his contributions weren’t as grand.

Milos Uzan - B

Uzan was a mixed bag for me. He definitely didn’t bring it every game, but he was significantly better than the other guards not named Tonje. Uzan was actually able to bring the ball up the floor, thats how low the bar was for guard play. Uzan was pretty streaky otherwise and just wasn’t a big factor every game. At the NBA level he really needs to be a 3 point sniper, and be able to run pick and roll. He doesn’t give a lot in the way of interior scoring. His inability to really create around the rim is going to impact how they guard him in the pick and roll. If he’s going to be a 3 point shooter, he really needs to be more consistent there, since he’s so limited in other areas. As it stands, I’d like to see him in Maine and continue to work his strengths up to the NBA level.

Celtics future - Maine Celtics

John Tonje - B+

Tonje showed me his game this Summer League and I was impressed. He also showed me what he can’t do. Tonje is a traditional 3 and D player, who lacks the nasty side of the archetype. While I don’t want a guy around like Lu Dort, I do think this level of role player needs to bring some edge to the game. Harder fouls, harder screens, harder box outs, poppa johns. At one point Tonje just got shoved in front of the ref. Had he responded it’s probably a double tech. He did nothing and it was play on. I really liked Tonje’s defense, he moves his feet well and seems to have a good head on his shoulders defending. Again, I question the effectiveness of good D if you’re not toeing the line of legality with what you’re doing. He also was our most consistent 3 point shooter, and him catching fire really won us a game. Offensively, Tonje’s big issue is his lack of awareness of where his teammates are. Too many times Tonje drove into the paint just to whip the ball out of bounds or to an opposing player. Thats not really an issue, theres plenty of room for a pure 3 point shooter.

Celtics future - 2-way contract

Hugo Gonzalez - A-

Hugo played 3/5 games and was the focal point of the C’s offense when he played. They really put the ball in his hands to see where he was at. I think he did great and had unquestionable chemistry with Amari Williams. Shooting efficiency was an issue, and it’s clear Hugo isn’t ready for a purely green light, but there were plenty of times where Hugo made a great read and kicked it out to a shooter, or got Amari the ball. Outside of obvious decision making progress, Hugo was doing everything he was doing last season, crashing the boards and defending like a maniac.

Celtics future - rotation player, main roster

Dillon Mitchell - A-

I was really worried about Mitchell as a draft pick, especially with a guy like Veesaar being available. Mitchell was clearly who Brad clocked as the best player, who he knew was willing to accept a 2-way contract. Mitchell played like great on D swatting and swiping everything in his considerable reach. I was also pleasantly surprised to see him nail a few 3’s. The shot looked really good, and I’m excited to see him in Maine next season. He also looked surprisingly adequate bringing the ball up the floor and making passes. Finally, he had some fantastic dunks, this guy can jump, and is aggressive on the offensive boards. Because Mitchell is so allergic to 3 pointers, defenders sag off him and it really affects his ability to drive. He had a similar issue where outside of dunks he doesn’t have a lot if ability to score inside. Because it was obvious he was going for a jam, he got blocked a shit ton. He needs some kind of offensive move where he stops short of the basket, or he needs the patience to get to the other side of the basket to protect his layup. Overall he was a great surprise, especially because the 3’s were falling.

Celtics future - 2-way

Amari Williams - A

Quite possibly the Celtics MVP of our Summer League, Williams was the focal point of our offense for long stretches. This was much needed because we lacked a traditional PG and we struggled to get into our offensive sets. At a certain point they even started having Williams bring the ball up the floor which really fucked with the opposing team’s full court ball pressure. Amari was also great defensively, swatting shots and pulling in boards. It’s nice to see a big man do big man shit. He also showed great chemistry with Hugo as I mentioned before. I hope they continue to exist together because it looked great. My knocks on Amari rn are that he doesn’t have a lot of scoring acumen, and he doesn’t have the athleticism to be a full time lob threat. Like he can throw it down, but he’s not fast or vertical enough for that to be his scoring contribution. A really underrated aspect of Queta’s game is he can score with little hook and flip shots around the rim. Amari needs a couple of moves and counter moves scoring from the center of the paint. If he can figure out that, his passing game will open up and he’ll be able to use his biggest skill. That being said, watching the big man bring the ball up the floor reminded me of early Celtics Al Horford.

Celtics future - 2-way

Chris Cenac Jr. - B+

Cenac only gets 5th billing because I don’t know how to organize this, and he did only get 1 start. I really liked Cenac! Defensively he was very aggressive blocking shots which was nice to see, as it was a big question from his lone college season. He was also solid on the boards. My only real issue is he seemed to be forcing shots offensively, and I couldn’t really figure out what his go to offensive moves are. It seemed like once per game he’d attempt to throw down a thunderous dunk that would clang out. The jumper looked forced sometime. I think this is just classic “the game needs to slow down” for him. Overall it was really encouraging to see.

Celtics future - Season in Maine

Tucker DeVries - C-

I was really hot and cold on DeVries this Summer League. It’s obvious he can hit 3’s, but I’m wondering what position he plays and who he really defends at the NBA level. There were a couple of times where he drilled back to back 3’s which was awesome to see. He also was quick and decisive with his passes. He either knew he wanted the shot or moved it. He was also great off the ball, repositioning into space. That being said, I don’t think he’s an NBA player. The Hauser comparison is there, but Hauser has managed to be at least relevant defensively. DeVries doesn’t look nearly as savvy a defender as Hauser. Hauser also contributes on the boards at least a marginal amount. DeVries was a ghost on the boards every game putting up actual 0’s for defensive boards multiple times. On top of seeming like a weak rebounder, he also wasn’t boxing out particularly well. I don’t really see DeVries as an NBA player. If he’s interested in hanging around Maine I wouldn’t be opposed, but I don’t a pathway for him to the main roster.

Celtics future - Maine Celtics

Curtis Jones - F

Curtis Jones somehow got 3/5 starts this year at PG and it was an unmitigated nightmare. I won’t recount specific plays, but watching him pass up open shots to drive into traffic, dribbling into the path of his roll man on pick and rolls, and being unable to handle 1v1 ball pressure as a ball handler, I just don’t understand what we were trying to figure out with Curtis. His G-League resume is really misleading. I really struggled with Jones’s decision making and on ball skills. It was comical at times.

Celtics future - Plz sign with the Lakers

Alondes Williams - D

Alondes came in as a relative veteran for this Summer League team, having spent time with multiple NBA teams before joining up with the C’s. While better than Jones, it wasn’t a significant improvement. The C’s used Alondes as a backup PG and brother took the opportunity to jack up shots and miss badly. He also made some silly mistakes like just whipping the ball out and stepping out of bounds. There were some nice looking shots, he’s a player who plays with a little swagger, but I just didn’t see the talent. He could neither drive nor shoot effectively, and I couldn’t even get a feel for what his game was.

Celtics future - Hard Pass

Kyle Mangas - D+

Mangas was a big disappointment. I was excited to see an older guy get an opportunity with a new club, and he really didn’t put his best foot forward. Game 1 he was just straight up missing open 3’s, which was supposed to be his calling card. The defense was also bad, and I could tell some of it was effort. Like just really lazy closeouts after getting lost on the play. I can’t imagine being a lazy defender in Summer League. Like this is your opportunity, and as a 27 year old probably one of your last opportunities, to get a close look from an NBA team. Close out hard. On top of effort, it did just look like he was just out matched athletically and couldn’t always keep up. Occasionally a 3 fell but it wasn’t enough to offset everything else.

Celtics future - No thanks

Hank Morgan - C-

Morgan was a bit of an enigma, because he played more than a lot of other guys, but he seemed to be a ghost on the floor. I honestly just didn’t see him in the action on either end. He took a few hard fouls, gave a few fouls, but overall just seemed like a warm body. THAT BEING SAID, I remember saying the same shit about Ron Harper Jr. a few Summer Leagues ago, so who knows. I’d imagine he’s going back to Maine this season so we’ll see.

Celtics future - Back to Maine, not main roster

Caleb Grill - C

Caleb Grill is a G-League champion, put some respect on his name! Honestly, Grill didn’t play much so it’s hard to be really hard or positive about him. In the very last game he showed a lot of tenacity, and helped the C’s at least make it respectable putting up 18 points shooting 4/9 from 3. He did seem to just get lost on defense often, at one point giving up a crucial 3 pointer, being confused who to close out on. If I cared about the Maine Celtics winning a G-League championship, I’d be interested. I don’t see his way to the C’s main roster.

Celtics future - Maine Celtics if he wants

Nick Pringle - B

At this point, we’re getting into guys who barely played, but I did like what I saw when Pringle was playing. Today on 3 straight plays Pringle broke up a lob, blocked a shot, blocked a 2nd shot and then on that same play gave a hard foul to stop a layup. Pringle was also decently aggressive on the boards and cutting to the rim hard. As far as classic big man prospects go, Pringle looked at least confident in what he was doing.

Celtics future - I’d like to see him in Maine, no guarantee he moves up

Chauncey Wiggins - C

Chauncey Wiggins didn’t see the floor a whole lot and he looked just ok. He honestly looks rail thin and I worry about his ability to rebound at the NBA level. His 3 point shot did look nice though. He also had a few heads up place where he made a nice flip pass to a teammate for a 3 points, then when it missed he got the offensive rebound. He then proceeded to get the shit blocked out of him, but thats whatever.

Celtics future - G-League lifer

Day Day Thomas - B+

Of the 3rd stringers, Day Day made the biggest impression on me. In the 2 games he really played in, he was clearly an energizer for his teammates. He was aggressive on D, forcing turnovers and making guys work for things. On offense he jacked up some prayers, but also moved well without the ball, making Scalabrine’s “Sacrificial cuts” where he cuts through the paint to throw the D off, with no ability to really score, but it shifts the defense making openings elsewhere. I really liked his game and would probably put him just behind as 2nd runner up for who I’d like on a 2-way. Those slots are most likely Amari, Mitchell, and Tonje, followed by Uzan and then Thomas.

Celtics future - I’d love to see him in Maine

Muhammed Amini - ?

This is the one guy I didn’t see enough of to really form an opinion.

Celtics Summer League Grades - Game 4

Game 1

Game 2

Game 3

Milos Uzan - C

Uzan had a rough game that the box score doesn’t really show. He started the game in rough shape missing 3 straight 3’s. All night it seemed like Uzan was forcing things on offense, rushing shots both from 3 and while on the move. He also had a couple of sloppy catches that I don’t think he’d be credited for the turnover for. He also wasn’t running the point much, Gonzalez and Amari pretty much took over there, and they even had Alondes Williams running things for a stretch. That being said, Uzan was able to actually get the ball up the floor, ending up hitting his next 2 3’s to end up 2/5 from 3, and hit 2 clutch layups in the last few minutes to take the gas out of the Kings comeback. Without those 2 layups at the end, he wouldn’t have ended the game 2/10. Uzan also chipped in 7 boards sneakily which I didn’t catch until after and I saw the box score. Its getting towards the end of Summer League, and Uzan’s path to the NBA is obviously as a 3 point specialist who can create off hard close outs. Maybe he can run pick and roll a bit. I don’t see him as an NBA player until he can really specialize.

John Tonje - B+

JT back at it with his tenacious D and 3 point acumen. Tonje set the tone early with good perimeter defense, fighting over screens and moving his feet well. Tonje chipped in 3/7 3’s on offense and the spacing obviously was just better while he was on the floor. He didn’t add much in the way of rebounding and as a theme for Tonje his creation with the ball in his hand is limited. I think I’ve got Tonje figured as a 3 and D specialist, who really needs to have the ball out of his hands unless he’s spotting up. My big challenge to Tonje is to be a bit more of an asshole. There was one point where Mogbo just straight up shoves Tonje. It was not a basketball play. I was 100% expecting Tonje to come back with a shove of his own, and like, good on Tonje for not reacting to it, but this was straight up just Mogbo shoving Tonje. If Tonje is going to break into the NBA, he needs to be more aggressive. That might look like harder fouls, harder screens, harder boxouts, etc. He performed his role well tonight, but I’d like to see a little more passion and energy out of him.

Hugo Gonzalez - A

Great game from Hugo here. He was the game’s leading scorer with 24, and he was decently efficient. He has clear chemistry with Amari and they seemed to be finding each other all night. Hugo was also doing a great job of hitting guys after driving and collapsing the D. I hope this is something he can carry into the regular season. I don’t see Hugo as a high volume 3 point shooter, but if he can be a crafty wing who can keep defenders on his hip as he drives, and find his guys on the perimeter, he could be great. One thing to note, he kind of cooled off at least passing in the 2nd half. He had 5 assists in the 1st half and 0 in the second. He scored consistently all night, he rebounded (10 boards), and he maintained defensive energy all night.

Tucker DeVries - D

Not the best outing for DeVries, who projects as a 3 point specialist at the NBA level. If he’s not making 3’s he’s not doing much else on the floor and he’s actively giving up a lot defensively to play him. He missed all 6 of his 3 point attempts. He was in the game obviously to provide spacing, and while he did command some defensive attention he missed everything, sometimes badly. I’d also mentioned before, you’re also giving up a lot on the boards with DeVries, who can’t seem to effectively box out. DeVries early defensive assignment was Karaban, who is a similar player and wasn’t going to overpower him thankfully, but Karaban ended up with 4 offensive boards, and was doing the extra things beyond just shooting the ball.

Amari Williams - A-

Amari Williams had a really great game despite it not showing up fully in the box score. Amari actually brought the ball up the court quite a bit, reminiscent of Al Horford’s early Celtics days. Having your C able to bring the ball up really fucks up teams trying to run a full court press, becuase you’re C isn’t going to be able to guard in space like that most likely. The Kings really couldn’t increase pressure because their big man can’t guard all the way down the court. Amari also made some great passes throughout the game, operating from the break as a passing big. I’d like to see some Jokic sets with Amari in the high post and cutters running through the paint to see what Amari can do. He also played a lot of minutes next to Cenac, boxing out and allowing Cenac to grab boards. Amari also had 2 blocks but they were both absolutely disgusting, at one point blocking the shit out of Sharp.

Chris Cenac - A-

Cenac had a solid outing, putting up a 10 point 12 rebound double double. Cenac comes in and immediately drains a 3 to beat the shot clock. Similar to Amari, they let him bring the ball up to not deal with full court pressure. It seems like once a game, Cenac tries to throw down a dunk that would be the highlight of the summer for us, but it doesn’t go down. I appreciate the big fella for trying though. I’m still trying to figure out Cenac’s offensive bread and butter. I’d like to see him stick his screens a little harder. He almost always slips it and there's a place for that, but sometimes you just need to lay some wood and break your ball handler free. He also chipped in 2 blocks, which is great to see. He’s consistently been swatting shots in Summer League which was one of his question marks coming in.

Curtis Jones - F

We’re finally at the point in the Summer League where they’re done putting the ball in Jones’s hands at the start of the game, and even in his 4 minutes I was unimpressed. He missed Amari calling for the ball on a post up, and instead passes it to I think Alondes for a bad 3. They also ran an OOB play that got Jones wide open from 3, he then passed that up to take it inside where he travelled. Again, in just his 4 minutes, he gets a pick from Amari, and gets in his way while he’s rolling. I’ll die on this hill.

Alondes Williams - C+

Alondes did… ok tonight. He seems to have the confidence of the coaching staff despite not shooting well through 3 and now 4 games. He filled the roll of “warm body” at guard, with 3 assists and a 3. He’s not particularly good from 3 and similar to a lot of guys he’s not an effective rebounder. He just wasn’t noticeably bad tonight and got significant minutes compared to other bench guys. He did a really good job of attacking a hard close out, but then just kinda whipped it out of bounds. He didn’t get credit for a turnover, maybe it got tipped.

Kyle Mangas - F

I’m pretty disappointed in Mangas’s summer league outing. In the G-League he’s a 3 point sniper who can run point occasionally. What I saw tonight was Mangas struggled with defensive pressure, brick open 3’s, and lazy closeouts. Like, this is your time to show what you’ve got and put your foot on the gas. I can’t imagine being a lazy defender in Summer League.

Hank Morgan - C

It’s a weird game to grade for Morgan. In the box score he missed a 3, turned it over, and fouled somebody. It’s hard for me to offer much more insight. One weird thing about Morgan, he seems to be a magnet for hard fouls. He took 2 hard shots in his 6 minutes on the floor.

Celtics Summer League Grades - Game 3

Game 1

Game 2

Curtis Jones - F-

I don’t have a single good thing to say about Jones and it’s becoming a pattern. Like if you read my write ups and didn't watch the game you’d think I had something against the guy. Although they started him at PG (why?!”), he wasn’t bringing the ball up at least. Once they got the ball across half court they tried letting him run some sets and it was absolute ass. At one point he ran into Chauncey Wiggins who was rolling after he set a pick for him and i thought “Oh man, they have bad chemistry, but thats Summer League”, but then this mother fucker runs into Cenac as Cenac was rolling to the rim after setting a pick! I’ve never seen a team try to force a guy into a role as hard as these Summer League Celtics are trying to force Curtis Jones into being a PG. In one single stretch, Jones gets muscled off his spot in the paint and gives up a layup, then on the other end is where he bumps into Cenac on the roll and ends up dribbling it off Cenac’s feet. The camera then cuts to Kingston Flemings on the bench, who visibly says “Oh my god…”, and then puts his face in his hands. Flemings then just stared into the camera, and he and I connected on a spiritual level on how poorly Jones was playing. Curtis follows this up by not fighting over a screen and giving up a 3. Not sure what it’s going to take for Jones not to get the start at PG but I’d cut him loose.

John Tonje - D

Tonje was having a good SL up until this point, and with Hugo and Amari out, he was the only guy who spent time with the Celtics last year. I will say, Tonje is pretty obviously an off ball guy and capitalises on being low on the other team’s priority list on D. That being said, this is SL and it was Tonje’s game to step up and show he’s an NBA talent. He was uninspiring today going 2/8 from the field and 1/6 from 3. With 0 assists and 2 boards, Tonje didn’t really put his stamp on this game like he did the first 2. The 3’s were all heavily contested, and like the other games a few times he dribbled into traffic without a real plan beyond throwing up a prayer. Up until now, Tonje has been really solid defensively, but tonight was rough for everyone on D. The Hawks shot 50% from the field, and 38% from 3, and while that's not solely on Tonje, he was a culprit. The SL team lost 2 of it’s most experienced players, and needed Tonje to step up. He really didn’t on both ends.

Tucker DeVries - C-

Rough game for DeVries after a nice game yesterday. He started the game on fire, hitting back to back 3’s on the C’s first 2 possessions. After that though, he only hit 1/6 3’s for the rest of the game finishing 3/8 from 3. He was also no help on the boards. Atlanta wasn’t crazy on the offensive glass, but between DeVries and Mitchell sharing PF minutes, neither of them really boxed out well. DeVries had a sneaky offensive rebound and putback that was really nice, but this was his only rebound the whole game. Bro was an absolute sieve on the defensive end. I wouldn’t say he was significantly worse than the other guys who failed here, but it was rough. The C’s played a large part of the game with only Cenac at C, and didn’t dig into the big bench for a while. Having DeVries and Mitchell as your PF makes the paint a tasty place to live.

Dillon Mitchell - B

I wouldn’t say Mitchell had a bad game, compared to a lot of other guys here. I will say, after seeing him fly around yesterday swatting and stealing everything in sight, him going a game with 0 steals and 0 blocks was a bit disappointing. He did co-block the shit out of someone, but they gave the block to Cenac. Mitchell reminds me of spiderman when he’s jumping out of the gym and surprising guys with his speed, verticality, and recovery time. Mitchell had a really great stretch where he gets that shared block with Cenac, and sprints out for the transition dunk, hits a 3 the following possession, and then hits a floater in the paint. I think this was 3 straight offensive possessions where Mitchell gets a quick 7 points. It was another weak night for Mitchell on the glass, where he only had 1 defensive board, vs his 3 offensive boards. I feel like Mitchell needs to use his speed and vertical to attack the glass and actually grab the rebound himself. He’s talented enough to grab the board and lead the break himself. I mentioned before with his slight frame he’s not going to be a strong box out guy.

Chris Cenac - B+

This was a really interesting game for Cenac. The first half was kind of brutal, but something happened at the half and he scored 8 straight points for the C’s. He looks like he’s a strong mid range shooter, and I hope the C’s are able to use that. The only reason he didn't get an A as our obvious best player tonight, was that first half where he didn’t play like the best guy on the court. He was losing his 1v1 matchup with Veesaar, not just in the box score, but Veesaar was out playing them even when they were guarding each other. There were some lazy closeouts where he lost Veesaar and this guy was punishing us all night from 3. I’d also say Cenac needs to set some meaner screens. Cenac had 4 blocks and it’s nice to see him get after it, as it was a question from his college career. He looks lean, but not like Chet Holmgren lean, he has room to put on some muscle and he can be a mean lean screening machine. It was a really promising 3rd quarter from Cenac, but it wasn’t a complete game, and he got schooled by the older Veesaar a few times, especially early.

Milos Uzan - D+

Rough game for Uzan who went 1/5 from the field and 0/4 from 3, which kind of needs to be his calling card. If Uzan isn’t hitting 3’s he isn’t scoring at all. He miraculously had 4 assists to 1 turnover in a game where it seemed like nobody could hit a shot. The even bigger issue of him not scoring, was Kobe Johnson getting 30 points. Perimeter defense was not existent this game and he shares in that responsibility. Guys were getting blown by all night by SL Hawks players that had no business scoring that easily.

Alondes Williams - D

We’re getting to the point in the lineup where the rotations looked insane. Amile Jefferson went deep into the bench early and often and unfortunately only a few guys did anything of note. Williams got 17 unremarkable minutes, which is a hair more than the rest of the deep bench crowd. He had 5 points on 1/5 shooting. He did draw a few fouls which was solid. If we’re looking at this as guys to maybe keep an eye on for Maine or a future 2-way contract, Williams is pretty far away. He was also part of the no D perimeter today.

Nick Pringle - C

Nick Pringle is a 6’10’’ big who does the big man stuff you’d hope he’d do. He finished around the rim hitting 2/3 of his shots, and chipped in 5 rebounds in his 13 minutes, which led the team. There was 1 big brain fart where Day Day Thomas was leading the equivalent of a 2 minute drill, trying to get the Celtics to a less embarrassing score, and he called for a screen, and neither Pringle nor Wiggins came and screened for him. He’s got the big man body but I don’t know if he has the mental, if he doesn’t understand when his guard calls for a screen. He needs to go to the Luka Garza school of just screening the shit out of everyone all the time.

Kyle Mangas - C-

It feels like Mangas burned his good will with the coaching staff in game 1 where he was just bricking open 3’s, lol. He only got 12 minutes tonight even with Gonzalez and Williams not playing. He did hit a pretty 3 to end the half, but outside of that he looked pretty out matched against stronger athletes. The box score actually looks pretty good for him compared to other guys, but he was part of this chaos rotation where it seemed like Amile Jefferson was looking for a hot hand, and everyone was just cold. The defense like most of our rotation was pretty bad.

Hank Morgan - B-

I’m kind of talking out of my ass with some of these grades, because 9 minutes just isn’t a lot to go on, and Morgan comes in at a time where a BUNCH of guys who haven’t even played yet this summer are hitting the floor. He looked solid in his short minutes, playing off the ball and just making sure he’s in the right place at the right time. He ended up a +18, being part of lineups that made a small run in the 3rd quarter, and then a significant run in the 4th that cut the league from embarrassing to just bad.

Chauncey Wiggins - B-

Another member of the chaos rotations, Wiggins came in for the first time this SL and looked… ok. He unfortunately was sharing the floor with Boston Celtics future leader in minutes played PG Curtis Jones. He was part of one of those sloppy pick and rolls where Jones just ran into him rolling and turned the ball over. Wiggins chipped in 4 rebounds in his short minutes and was part of that late game run lead by Day Day Thomas. Wiggins also hit a 3, which is his forte and a stretch 4 who typically struggles on the boards.

Caleb Grill - B

Grill got some early burn and then was benched until garbage time. He got 7 points in his short 7 minutes hitting both his shots, and also somehow snuck a block in. I can’t give him a higher grade because he was absolutely in while Kobe Johnson was going off and didn’t do much to help stop the guy.

Day Day Thomas - B+

Although it was a short 6 minute stint, Day Day played with urgency a lot of guys on this SL team lacked and it was refreshing. It’s obvious he wants to make an impression, which leads to him shooting some questionable shots, but he was a +15 in his 6 minutes, got 3 assists, and a steal in his short time. He also had one really pretty lead pass to Cenac/Pringle (I forget) but they didn’t hit the layup.

Mohammed Amini - N/A

Hilariously my cut off for a grade is 5+ minutes and Amini only played 3, so he’s the only one without a grade.

Celtics Summer League Grades - Game 2

Curtis Jones - F

Another start for Jones and another big question mark as to why. My thinking is they just like Uzan and Cenac to come into the game together. Jones didn’t look nearly as out of his depth as game 1, but he had Christian Anderson guarding him, and that shouldn’t be nearly as challenging. He was a -9 in his 6 minutes and coaching elected to change it up and get him out of the game. There was one play where Mitchell gave amazing effort on D and Jones immediately gave up a layup. With back to back games as an early sub, hopefully they mix it up for game 3. This is the second game in a row the C’s start the game in a 7+ point deficit that stays until Jones is subbed out.

John Tonje - B+

JT had another good game. Tonje hit his stride in the 2nd quarter and hit multiple 3’s. He ended the game 3/4 from 3, and 6/10 from the field. He did almost all of his damage in the 1st half scoring 13 of his 17 points. Charlotte’s defense keyed in on him in the 2nd half and it really opened up the floor for Mitchell and Uzan. He also showed good defensive tenacity early in the game to help set the tone. He had another really beautiful poke steal to get himself a transition dunk just like game 1. The knock on Tonje is that he disappeared in the 2nd half. Last game he came alive in the 3rd, this game we went to sleep in the 3rd. He also had a few tunnel vision drives where it was clear he didn’t know where his teammates were, and when the defenders reacted to his drive, he had nothing up his sleeve, he just hit the deck and threw the ball away. Also similar to game 1, there was a stretch where they were testing out Point Tonje and it was just as bad as Jones running the point. He’s great off the ball, and he has stretches of great D, I just don’t wanna see the ball in his hands.

Hugo Gonzalez - C-

Another confusing game for Hugo to give a grade. One of the few things that worked well in game 1 was Hugo and Amari pick and roll. They went away from that almost entirely this game. They also shifted the ball handling duties away from Hugo this game. I’d much rather see him run an actual action than passing the ball along the horn to whoever they were trying to get into the action. Despite handling the ball less, Hugo had 5 turnovers. He was doing a lot of his passing from above the break and was whipping it out of bounds, or into the crowded paint. It wasn’t just Hugo doing that, they whole team was whipping the ball into the stands, especially early. Hugo went 3/10 from the field, almost exclusively shooting 3’s. This could be direction from coaching. There was 1 play where Hugo passes the ball from the break, and hits Mitchell in the back, who is trying to set a screen for Tonje coming out of the corner. Not sure whose fault that was, but stuff like this has happening all game. Hugo seems like he was on a different page. That being said, defensively he was great. 3 steals, 1 block, and sticking his nose in to do the dirty work all game.

Dillon Mitchell - A-

Meet Dillon “40% from 3” Mitchell ladies and gentleman. His shot actually looked really good even on the misses. That being said, teams don’t treat him like a shooter, and it clogs everything up. They pack the paint on him when he runs pick and roll, and even on back cuts they seem ready for him. On top of predicting him as a non shooter, they are also accurately predicting him on cuts as a dunker. A lot of his shots got stuffed, even when he caught the ball clean a step or 2 from the rim. On top of 3 point shooting, he needs to work on being a little more creative at the rim to avoid shot blockers. One more observation, Mitchell’s limitations are forcing him to play at PF, where he struggles setting screens and boxing out. He has a slight frame, which allows him to be a high flyer. I wouldn’t want him to gain weight to play PF, because it could take away some of his springyness, which is his best quality. Him being able to at least shoot will allow him to play SF, where he’s a more natural physical fit. I wanted to get that observation out, because otherwise, what a fantastic game from Mitchell. Despite lacking some finesse skills, he looks solid moving with the ball and passing. This dude can jump. There was on play where Mitchell lept up for a block, and Sion James stopped turned, realized he had to throw up a shot or his momentum was going to force him to either travel or fall out of bounds, and when he looked Mitchell was still up in the air behind him at maximum verticality, and Mitchell just blocked the shit out of him. Mitchell also hit 2/5 3’s, got 7 offensive rebounds, and got 8 stocks. He also had a really great pass to Uzan in transition for a 3, where after he dumped the ball off he immediately got into positon to screen the only guy who could even try to contest, and the guy just fucked off and gave up the 3. His presence as a help defender threw a lot of chaos into Charlotte’s offense. Amazing game from Mitchell, he’s a highlight reel.

Amari Williams - C+

Williams struggled here which was hard to see after he had such a kick ass game 1. Similar to game 1, his teammates seemed unprepared for his passes. He was also guilty of just whipping the ball out of bounds early in the game. Unexpectedly, they went away from Amari setting picks and rolling hard, a lot of his opportunities seemed to be from catching the ball at the top of the key and operating as a passer. It didn’t work out well just because of the unfamiliarity with teammates. The Hugo Amari pick and roll was one of the few things that worked last game and they seemed to go away from it entirely. He did chip in 4 blocks, so big man doing big man shit is still in effect, but I do wish he controlled the boards a bit better. There is the effect of playing in a lineup where you don’t have anyone who is strong at boxing out. He had a pretty floater at one point and I hope he continues to show touch around and beyond the rim.

Chris Cenac - D+

Disappointing night for Cenac. He started off with a really strong sequence, stuffing Kalkbrenner on one end, and then catching the ball deep in the paint, and firing a clean pass to Hugo in the corner for 3. After that though *fart sound*. Cenac ended the game 1/7 from the field, and it looked like he was really rushing his shot. He chipped in on the glass, but outside of that initial sequence he just wasn’t a factor. At one point he got the ball on an OOB play, DeVries had the entire half of the court to himself and had already hit a 3, and Cenac throws up a prayer with plenty of time on the clock. Big man needs to slow down a bit and hunt for the easy ones.

Milos Uzan - B+

Uzan was really solid tonight and ended up playing 31 minutes compared to starting PG Curtis Jones’s 6. There was a noticeable improvement in ball movement once he came in. The C’s took the lead and didn’t really look back after initially going down by 7. Uzan had a few pretty step back 3’s and another in transition, going 3/6 from 3. He had a solid 6 assists to 2 TOs. When Uzan sat in the 3rd it was again noticeable. Tonje got some run as the PG and it just didn’t work. Uzan came back in and seemed to iron out the offense. Uzan is listed at 6’4’’ but he seems to look a little smaller, and definitely defends a bit smaller. It could just be his slight frame thought, he’s not a strong guard and likely won’t be able to take it inside at the NBA level. If this Summer League is an audition for the 2 2-way contracts we have remaining, Uzan is just on the outside looking in behind Tonje and Mitchell. I’d love to see Uzan in Maine next season, helping Cenac hit his next level.

Tucker DeVries - A-

I really liked DeVries on the court today. He supplied much needed spacing and stabilization. Spacing was obvious, as he hit 3/7 from 3. He jacked up 2 shots that seemed like prayers, but really he did a good job drifting into space, getting open, and opening up the paint for the C’s. As far as stability, there was some frantic passing going on with our guards and wings, and like I mentioned before, dudes were just launching the ball into the stands, or right into defender’s hands. Everything DeVries did made sense. He’d dump the ball off with a ball handler, and then work his way into the corner. There was one point where he caught the a the line before the defense was set, and passed out of the hard close out, repositioned on the other side of the court, and nailed the catch and shoot. There wasn’t any point where he seemed overwhelmed on D, but it could just be a disorganized SL team not hunting matchups. There were a few times I wish he was more of a force on the boards.

Alondes Williams - N/A

Technically he played before garbage time but it was only 4 minutes.

Some guys came in for 1 minute of garbage time: N/A

Celtics Summer League Grades - Game 1

Curtis Jones - F

Curtis Jones got the nod as starting PG tonight and really didn’t take advantage of it. Offensively they were challenging him up to the half court line, and he wasn’t handling the pressure well. Chucky Hepburn (real person) was dogging him. We struggled with initiating offensive sets all game and at least in Q1 it had a lot to do with how much time and effort it took Jones to get within striking distance of 3 point range. Defensively he was just as problematic. I’m not a defensive specialist by any means, but while Jones was on the floor rotations seemed sloppy, and he in particular seemed to be standing still and not closing out on shooters.

John Tonje - A-

If i stopped watching at the half, Tonje probably would have gotten a D. Something happened in the 3rd and this guy’s shot came alive. Tonje led the comeback hitting timely 3’s throughout the half that put the C’s within striking distance. Tonje also pretty much sealed the game, poking the ball loose with less than a minute left, and taking it all the way for a dunk. The reason this isn’t an A+ is the first half. Tonje had a number of drives where it was obvious he didn’t have a plan B. He didn’t have a good idea where an outlet might be if driving into 3 guys went south, which it did multiple times. Also, once it was clear Jones wasn’t it at PG, Tonje got a chance to bring it up a few times with similar results. He’s definitely an off ball guy, and needs to play with a real PG.

Hugo Gonzalez - B

As the de facto leader of our Summer League, a lot of the ball handling fell on Hugo, and the results were mixed. 8 assists to 3 turnovers was solid, but 3/16 from the field and 1/9 from 3 was rough. Something that really stood out, was Hugo’s chemistry with Williams on the pick and roll. This was sweet and other than Tonje from 3 was the only reliable scoring Boston had tonight. One other knock against Hugo, he missed some really clutch free throws, and maybe called his own number a few too many times down the stretch. It’s a tough balance, because you need to be able to score at multiple levels to effectively run pick and roll, so he had to keep shooting to keep the defense guessing, but it was rough. That being said, 7 D-rebounds and 3 O-rebounds showed the Hugo we know and love crashing the glass.

Dillon Mitchell - B

Mitchell is so hard to accurately rate as he’s one of those players you can’t look at counting stats and evaluate impact. Mitchell could get a B with 0 points on his night. Defensively he was really good, poking the ball out and forcing turnovers was awesome. He also flew through the air and had a pretty block early, totalling 4 stocks in the game. He also had some really pretty offensive rebounds. Also, he looked like he had a better handle than I’d expect. There were a few times where Boston was struggling to get the ball up the floor, and Mitchell brought it up looking clean. I wish they’d let him run a few pick and rolls. I also wish he was more of a presence on the boards. 1 D-rebound in 26 minutes where Toronto was shooting bricks. Because of Mitchell’s slight frame, and the necessity of playing PF (no jumper) he needs to be locking down defensive possessions. He’s never going to be a strong box out guy.

Amari Williams - A+

Big man does big man shit! 13 rebounds, 2 blocks, rolled hard to the rim, 7/9 from the field! This dude was fantastic in this game. I know we see guys crush it in Summer League and then not even make the roster, but this was encouraging. Amari showed great control in the pick and roll with Hugo. He was also crafty when he got the ball, instead of going straight up, he’d finish his cut and get to the other side of the rim for a pretty layup, instead of just taking the contested layup immediately after catching the ball. Amari also hit some awesome passes, but the team was laying absolute bricks the entire first half, and a lot of his great passes didn’t amount to baskets. Amari was just constantly making good decisions all game, I can’t say enough about his poise.

Chris Cenac - B+

Similar to Tonje, Cenac would have been a bit lower if not for a few key moments. Early on, he looked really engaged on both ends. He missed his first 2 shots, but then dunked his next two being heads up and cutting. He also looked good on D early, being proactive about positioning and not letting guys get positon/backcut/ect. He also looked ready and willing to take his open 3’s early. He launched them confidently and it looks like a solid shot. There was 1 iffy stretch where Cenac took the ball right at reigning G League DPOY, 7’5’’ Jamarion Sharpe, who schooled the shit out of him. Then, there was just a stretch where Cenac felt like a non factor. This was a bit of his M/O in college, where you can go for a 3-4 minute stretch and you think “where is the big man?”. Then, as the clock expires, Cenac hit a beautiful corner 3 to tie the game and send it to OT where the C’s won. At the end of the day, Cenac had a 14 and 10 double double with 4 blocks, and a game saving 3. Solid first outing for my guy, I just wish he impacted the game a little more in the middle.

Milos Uzan - C+

Bit of a mixed bag for Uzan on his Summer League debut. For those who don’t know, Uzan was an undrafted FA from Houston, who played college ball with Cenac. His scoring was meh where he shot 2/9, but he made a visible difference in bringing the ball up the floor once they benched Jones for him. Uzan ended up playing 30 minutes and had 5 assists to 0 turnovers on a night where the C’s really needed someone to make the right pass and advance the ball. He also had that beautiful pass to Cenac for the game tying 3. I’d like to see him in Maine with Cenac this year for the familiarity.

Kyle Mangas - F

I was kinda hyped for Mangas coming in. As an older player and a history of being a sharpshooter I always hope there is untapped talent hiding around the corners of the G-League. Mangas’s resume is way bigger than this game, but damn it was pretty bad. He went 0/4 from 3 and was getting hunted on D early in the game and got pulled after a few minutes. He came in later in the game and bricked another 3 before sitting for the night. Really rough outing, shooter has to hit shots. These were clean open 3’s he was missing too.

Alondes Williams - D

Pretty rough outing for Alondes, who came in early, launched 6 shots in 9 minutes, and missed all of them. He did hit Cenac on cut for a pretty dunk. He has some PG experience but wasn’t able to showcase it much tonight.

Hank Morgan - N/A

Morgan came in for 4 minutes, missed a 3, got a rebound, and gave a hard transition foul. He’s a Maine Celtics and will probably be back in Maine next year.

Anime to watch with girlfriend

Hello anime-niacs, my girlfriend loves the anime movies ive watched with her and im looking for some reccomendations that maybe I haven't seen so we can experience them for the first time together.

Preferably dubbed movies as shes dyslexic and has a hard time keeping up with subtitles.

Id also prefer films for the lower time investment.

Im more on the Yu Yu Hakusho, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Champloo side of things.

Here's a list of movies shes loved so far -

A Silent Voice

Kiki's delivery Service

Weathering With You

Your Name

Spirited Way

Josee, The Tiger, and thr Fish

Arietty

So really films that are dubbed and less focused on action and more focused on emotional highs and lows.

Edit: Sorry for not replying individually but thank you all! I'm upvoting and making a list!

2 Days until Summer League - Still 4+ open roster spots

Celtics currently have the following 11 players lined up for the Vegas Summer League -

Kyle Mangas - 6'4" 27

Milos Uzan - 6'4" 24

Day Day Thomas - 6’0”

Hugo Gonzalez - 6'6" 20

John Tonje - 6'4" 25

Tucker Devries - 6'7" 23

Dillon Mitchell - 6'8" 22

Chris Cenac - 6'11"

Amari Williams - 6'11" 24

Chauncey Wiggins - 6'10" 23

Nick Pringle - 6'10” 24

Summer League starts for the C's the day after tomorrow, and Brad has left 4 spots open. Its also not confirmed if Tonje and Hugo are playing. Hugo is likely to play, but just had a few games for the Spanish national team and may have more obligations there.

Tonje is likely but there's been no news or confirmation, its just an assumption.

Its weird to have so many empty spots less than 2 days before you play.

Celtics Summer League Roster - Updated

Updated Summer League roster, still a few spots left, especially if Scheierman and Gonzalez dont go.

Guards -

Kyle Mangas - 6'4" 27

G-League veteran sniper who rebounds and could potentially be a backup PG.

Milos Uzan - 6'4" 23

Former Houston teammate of Cenac, potentially got in at his recommendation/request. Streaky shooter with ball handling skills.

New Day Day Thomas - 6’0”

Solid 3 point shooting guard who can also pass. Not a lot of scoring inside the arc.

Wings

Baylor Scheierman - 6'6" 25

Scheierman may or may not play. It'd be year 3 for him and he showed his value last year. That being said, the team is light on ball handlers and he could get reps in as Point Scheierman.

Hugo Gonzalez - 6'6" 20

Hugo has commitments to the Spanish national team that may make him unavailable. Probably a better experience anyway. Could definitly still play.

John Tonje - 6'4" 25

Throw in from the Utah trade late in the year that stuck around. Strong physical guard.

Tucker Devries - 6'7" 23

Son of a coach. Plays with a chip on his shoulder. First one in the gym, last one out. A real lunch pail kind of guy. Also can shoot kinda.

Dillon Mitchell - 6'8" 22

Devastating athlete in transition with passing chops. Strong offensive rebounder and defender. Absolutely not ability to shoot the ball, never seen a wing so bad at shooting. Not an exaggeration.

Bigs

Chris Cenac - 6'11" 19

Faceup big man with good athleticism. Potentially a good shot blocker. High upside with his tools.

Amari Williams - 6'11" 24

Year 2 for big fella. Does all the big man things, but also has exhibited passing ability. Looks a little lost right now, Bambi.

Chauncey Wiggins - 6'10" 23

3 point shooting big who doesnt do much else. Good size but doesn't use it for much.

New Nick Pringle - 6'10” 24

Bouncy big man who finishes well around the basket. Plays with some edge.

Prediction Thread - Guarantee Day

The following players have contract guarantees due today.

Jordan Walsh

Dalano Banton

Max Shulga

Amari Williams

Neemias Queta

They can be cut, they can be extended with a new contract, they can delay their guarantee date to give the team flexibility, or they can have their minimum deals guaranteed for next year.

Who do you think stays or goes?

reddit.com

The Reason Ron Harper Jr. Was signed today is because of 6/29

Im in the middle of writing another longer post, and the daye 6/29 is the guarantee date for a bunch of our young players.

The following players still have contract guarantee dates 6/29.

Ron Harper Jr.

Max Shulga

Dalano Banton

Amari Williams

Jordan Walsh

Neemias Queta

Harper was the easiest. They like him and hes ok playing for 3m/year.

Queta is obviously worth more, he'll be the most complicated to extend. Hes the only guy on the list here with the potential to make 8 figures.

Walsh will also be a little complicated. He has an argument that he performed well in the role they asked and he could do more. Im not sure either side wants him to hit FA. On the other side, I dont think they Celtics can offer significantly more than what they offered Harper.

Amari Williams is most likely going to stay, I could see them extending him to a similar deal as Harper just to lock down a cheap C.

Shulga is most likely back to a 2 way, or just straight up back to Maine without an NBA deal.

Banton is similarly most likely just gone 6/29.
