Little blood sucking insect, causing allergic reaction in my boyfriend

Hello,

My boyfriend repeatedly got bitten/stung by an insect, causing rather bad rashes (he's also allergic to a lot of insect bites though). We do have rats (pets, not an infestation) and just found this louse (?) on his desk chair.

He also got bitten two weeks ago, he insecticed the entire apartment (he thought it might be bedbugs but hadn't seen anything), and then was gone for two weeks. Return yesterday night, new bites yesterday evening and today.

I have been bite-free so far. If you have any ideas what it could be, that would help us tremendously in trying to get rid of it.

So far, we're starting to wash everything in contact on 60°C and steam things.

Thanks a lot!

Searching for a boat neck midi dress pattern (long sleeves)

Hi everyone,

I am searching for a midi dress pattern with an a line skirt and long sleeves. I could draft the skirt myself or Frankenstein one of my other patterns without issues, but I have zero experience with boat necks and would be happy about any recommendations. Long sleeves would be great as well -- all I am finding so far, are AI patterns or sleeveless dresses.

Thanks a lot for all tips, hints and recommendations!

Lavendar sachet for my mom.

I am not big on handsewing, but currently visiting my parents without a sewing machine at hand, so I decided to handsew. It was actually quite meditative and a lot of fun -- I'll just need to remember for the next time that I have more flexibility when handsewing, meaning I could hide stitches a bit better on the inside.

Which colour for bias tape?

The dress unfortunately washed me out, so I'd like to add some bias tape. What colour would you recommend?

Felt cute, might delete later

Scratch is going through another round of antibiotics and he absolutely hates the taste of it. So now I'm trying to make him hate me less by bribing him with surimis (crab sticks).

Headphone earpads falling apart, stitched back together

The stitches are unfortunately visible (it was glued before) but at least it looks mostly consistent and rather uniform. Also forgot to take a before pic, sorry for that.

Update: buttons for vest

Update to this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/sewing/s/8XDkqHmjRy

I ultimately decided for the metal buttons. The longer I kept looking at all button options, the less I liked any of them and I came to agree with everyone who said I should get different buttons altogether, either black or purple, some solid colour that leaves more space for the fabric itself.

But: the vest was a birthday present for my partner and he originally selected the Schilling buttons. I still don't love them, so I suggested exploring other options and I was curious how they would be perceived in general. Ultimately, the feedback from you all made it quite clear that it's really down to personal preference and I can live with that. He really loves the final product, so I'm also happy with the outcome.

(If I ever make something for myself out of that fabric, it most likely will be with different buttons.)

Edit: the pattern is McCall's 8442 D, the fabric is a polyester jacquard with a purple fan pattern.

Please help me choose the right buttons for this vest

Hello, I'm currently finishing up this vest and I'm not sure anymore whether the originally selected buttons go very well with it. Which ones do you think work the best with the fabric?

(1) Metal, Austrian Schilling (I think -- I mean I know it's Austrian, I'm just not sure whether it's a Schilling)

(2) Brown leather button, theoretically intended for coats etc. but the best wouldn't be washed anyhow, only dry cleaned.

(3) Plastic button, bordeaux with hold.

I stumbled upon this picture on r/TheWayWeWere, someone's very stylish mother (reposting here with their permission) wore this dress and I would love to reproduce something of this style. If you should have any pattern recommendations, especially for this kind of neckline and collar, I would be super grateful.

Thanks a lot in advance!
